This concept certainly has a lot of theorizing online, so I decided to try out a few experiments and showcase how you can change your country on TikTok and expand your international fanbase.
Changing countries on TikTok is a fairly simple process to figure out, and optimizing your content preferences will help you skyrocket TikTok views and likes and grow fans and TikTok followers fast and efficiently.
In this video tutorial, we discuss the three aspects of For You, For Them, and For Us. We'll talk about how to influence the Netherlands, Germany, Sweden, Philippines, India, the United Kingdom, or any country of your choice is you follow the tactics outlined in this video. So I had a video go somewhat viral and after about 50k views it primarily switched to a asian (philippines, vietnam, and singapore) audience I'm not sure why. The video currently has 400k views and about 50% of the audience is from asian countries. I'm from Canada and never used a VPN while using tiktok, so this is very weird. Not to mention my video was entirely in English.

I created my TikTok in 2018 back in India but stopped using it shortly after. Now, I live in the US. and I reinstalled the app a few weeks ago, I cannot reach the Indian audience anymore.
My analytics is totally different. I'm in the US but my audience is 21% germany, 20% UK, 18% poland, 16% US and 4% romania.. Like I'm grateful for the global reach, but I'm in the u.s and my account is for business. I kinda want my audience to have a higher U.S audience

I have the same problem and I hate it.It makes me so mad that some people from the US can get so many views by just posting their face but the videos ı spent hours get unnoticed because of my region.
The whole point of the internet is connecting with those with similar interests and values no matter what part of the globe they’re in. This is very frustrating about TikTok.

I did the method of removing the SIM card and turning on the VPN and I guess it worked. The region I'm influencing is the US but I created my account in South Africa. I made the change simply bc I don't like South African humour and the content I'm making is more suitable for USA. One of my posts has reached nearly 100k views so I'm skeptical in what you say about VPNs lowering your reach but alright. Only like 12% of my followers are actually from my region lol. Nice video tho
I did the same but the prob is that when I turn off the VPN i go back to my country and I think my content will be shown there which is smth I dont want lol whats your methode
what VPN u use? i tried pandavpn and supervpn but it wont allow me to post my content (stucked at 60%). i only managed to change my fyp content to that region only lol.

@@hananherself4894 Something to note is that if you posted a video while your VPN is in, it will be shown in that country, even if you want to turn it off later. It all depends on what country your VPN was set to when posting the video. So don't worry about turning it off, it will still be shown to those audiences you selected

“Removing your sim card is relatively easy, but I wouldn’t take the risk” bruh is just inserting a little needle or a similar size, into a little hole ans taking the little card out, my 8 year old brother can do that

I was just as surprised to hear Joseph talk about the SIM card as such a delicate component. 😁 In the late 90's, it used to be a thing to take your own Nokias and Motorolas apart to remove batteries and SIM cards to reset after a system failure. And sometimes all the parts just flew over the asphalt when you happened to drop the brick. Then you just calmly reassembled the thing. And it worked again. But I agree, it's probably better to play it safe. 😅💪

I am an Italian living in Austria. My TikTok content is mainly for an Italian speaking audience, but this stupid app just doesn't want to show my videos in Italy. I don't understand why it isn't able to recognize the language of the video, the hashtags etc and why the creator needs to trick the app to reach the right audience...

Hey Joseph, great content. I know you are not certain about this but in regards to the VPN example used with the Italian resident who created his account with the VPN in the US, do you think this would only strictly work when creating the account or could also work if you already have an account and then change the VPN to your desired location?
That’s a such a huge problem. That’s literally the only one reason why I don’t use TikTok. It just shows your content in countries where people simply don’t speak English. Is that so rare problem that they don’t give a damn.

Hey Joseph, great video, love your dedication and research on all of these TikTok subjects. I have a situation regarding this topic that I would like to share. I got TikTok account credentials from my US based employer, which was created there, specifically in California and I live in Europe, so my task was to manage that account, but since I started posting on it myself, most of the audiance is from the region where I live and not the US (The content is still exactly the same, all in English audio and captions and everything). Also I am only using this account through a tablet (with no simcard slot) and not a phone so there has never been a sim card in play in my case. Do you think that the IP adress and location of the device at the time of posting are the most relevant factors in determening the location where the videos are shown? Thanks and keep up the grind!

I’m from germany and I make edits on my tiktok account. My videos take really long but they always just get 100-1k views. When I check the analytics its always atleast 70% german audience. It kinda annoys me. There are other german editors, but their content gets seen by english speaking ppl. Idk what I’m doing wrong. I just want a more international audience.

so well I tried this. I am from the Czech republic and I would like to target US audience (because in future I want to make youtube videos etc...). So I scrolled about 100x at fyp and it showed me about 30 czech tiktokers.
Then I changed VPN to USA (New York) and went to fyp and scrolled about 100x and it showed me about 15 czech tiktokers which is less than before.
Last thing what I did was that I let the VPN changed to USA and removed sim-card. Then I scrolled about 100x and it showed me only US tiktokers and 0 czech. So it seems that it may work.
My question is - should I change my VPN and remove sim-card everytime I open tiktok? It means when I open tiktok just for fun or for comments reactions etc.....Or should I remove my sim card and change VPN only when I upload video? Thanks for the answer. Peter

@@TomKooiman_ Hello, yes I did. I originally bought a few eSims which solved it, but then it made my location Estonia or Belgium, depending on which eSim I used. I tried buying USA ones but no luck.
So I just got a canadian SIM when I went back to visit my family and that works.

When we say “make an account in country of interest” does that mean we make a TikTok from scratch? Meaning not a separate “account” on your same TT profile that you can switch to?
Hi Joseph, I actually have an american SIM card and live in Argentina. I make content in english. I think the way it works for me, from what I've gathered is it reaches half of my audience from the US and english speaking countries and half of the audience is argentinean.
I notice because of my analytics and comment sections. Obviously the audience that stays is the American one, because most people in Argentina don't speak english, but it still affects the algorithm because my video gets shown to Argentineans who don't speak english, so they scroll past and I lose potential organic reach.
MY POINT IS that I think another factor that influences this is THE LANGUAGE YOU SPEAK. Tiktok listens to my day to day conversations and uses that to determine which people to show my content too. And I know that because I started taking German lessons, and practicing speaking it, and TikTok has started showing me some content in german and I've been attracting German audiences.
It's not a mindset thing because I also have two phones and this thing happens when I speak german near the one phone where I do have TikTok downloaded.
I'll try a VPN and let you know if that changes things too. Thank you for your videos, they're awesome!

Great question! In theory, yes you would as that is what the guy I mentioned lives in Italy does. However, keep in mind that this does not work for everyone and that’s why the best long term strategy is to focus on going viral in your country. Let’s get that TikTok growth! 👌

It depends on the region of your Apple/ Google /Store . I removed my SIM and changed my VPN and it didn’t work.
My tiktok and cellphone are english. But my “Discover” page is all portuguese from Brazil

I knew it! The type of content that I post is specifically directed towards Egyptians, but my views dropped as soon as I went to America and took out the SIM card from Egypt. Based on my analytics, my content started reaching US audience, but it wasn't doing well because again, my content is mainly for Egyptians. When I put the SIM card back in, I started reaching the Egyptian audience again and my content does really well. You pretty much verified that that's exactly what's happening. It's honestly frustrating!
