absolutely LOVE this design, super efficient and practical! the only issue I've consistently noticed is Iron Golems randomly getting caught on walls. A suggestion for anyone having this same issue: I placed an additional zombie at the top of the walls above the chest&hoppers. This gives the iron golem a target; and causes them to walk into the water stream! Hope this helps anyone having the same issues
I have a server with friends and wanted to build an iron farm yesterday, but didn't get around to start building it, luckily. Amazing timing on the video, Wattles! Thanks a lot!

great vid i just made this in my survival world and it wasn't too hard to get the villagers up there just used a quick rail system and finished the build in under 30 minutes
@wattles I made a simple improvement to solve the villagers not sleeping. Ring of redstone of the blocks above the trapdoors hooked up to a daylight censor. Closes the trapdoors at night, meaning the villagers are no longer scared and go to sleep. Love the rest of the design though :))))
This should be up higher THANK YOU. It works perfectly for me after some tweaking with adding a sensor on the trap doors. I also changed the blocks above the trap doors to a half slab so the villagers wouldn't run up on the block next to the zombie and get hit by it. Also made the landing area with more hoppers extend past the bottom as some iron was getting stuck on the chest. Also changed the gate up top to signs and they don't get stuck on top of the waterfall anymore.
@@MZKeditor look for the block above where the zombie is, and remove the surrounding 8 blocks in a circle, then replace them with redstone (this should be one block above the trapdoors between the villagers and the zombie) and hook it up to a daylight sensor. This will power the trapdoors at night making them shut so the villagers can sleep (they won't sleep if they can see the zombie), this allows iron golems to keep spawning in the day.
@@bigbeaner6956 I know this has nothing to do with your comment but my idea with an iron farm is to build it to where it funnels iron into my base thoughts?

Wattles, every time I went AKF the Golems kept getting caught at the corner of the drop off to the kill chamber and stopped spawning. I added two more fence gates at the end of the three wide and then two more buckets of water at the top of the three wide, that fixed it and improved my rates.
Thanks Gary! I had the same problem and your solution 100% works. Everybody like Gary's comment so people see this tip. Golems get stuck and no other one's can spawn. This farm won't work afk without this modification!

a tip for players who do not have name tag just drop your stuff like shovel sword etc and lt the zombie pick it up the zombie had your stuff so the zombie will no despawn Edit : or simply find a zombie with armours and tools and give him your stuff

for people who have no way to easily obtain nametags you don't need them to keep zombies spawned, if you give a zombie a tool or weapon they will stay spawned too Edit:works with armor too
Do note that iron farms are not meant to be made early game. Most end-game players make them well after the dragon fight, and if not, mid-game at least. Don't try to do this in early game, it probably will be quite hard.
This works so well! I made 1 little change, since the villagers weren't sleeping, I put a daylight sensor to a piston so the zombie is retracted during the night, so the villagers sleep, but come morning the zombie is pushed up the the villagers start summoning again. Did that, and it produces several stacks of items an hour! Also, put an item filter, and compost the flowers, and it's a tiny bone meal farm too!
@@basor5388 btw I used the piston as well, but I had problems with the water as well :( it looks like it works fine without the water now that I added the piston tho so I just left it without the water, my villagers seem to be panicking a great deal now that they can sleep sometimes
I mean it's not though. How is stone, wood, lava, water, a crap ton of food for breeding, and at most 44 iron more expensive than infinite iron? If you can't make a food farm you shouldn't be doing this and if you can't find a village then you haven't explored enough or have a shit seed. Worse case scenario is that you need to brew potions and use 16 gold, but I'd trade in 16 blocks of gold for this farm.
DAYUM. This thing so effective that on the time it took me to build the top layer to avoid the spawn glitch I had already had 3-4 golems killed 😂 subbed!
just built a slightly modified version of this on the server where I play with my friends. it makes sooo much iron! 😮 thank you soo much for the tutorial and the design. 😊
To fix golems getting stuck, do this on the 3x7 platform: three fence gates instead of just one in the middle. Right next to each other to stop the water. Then, opposite the fence gates, instead of one water source block in the middle, three water source blocks across so that the water flows straight ahead in each column. This farm won't work afk without this modification. Every once in a while, the golems get stuck from jumping in low water level onto the single fence gate, or they jump up on the 7x8 platform because the water stream isn't facing the direction of the kill chamber. I also replaced the walls on the sides of the kill chamber with glass panes, since the golems can stand on walls connected vertically when pushed against them. When they fell into the lava chamber, they would occasionally get stuck above the lava on the wall post a layer down from where they fell. This is another overall GREAT design by wattles! Thanks for the video! Love your content!
@@handymanny5343 For me it's producing around 300-400 iron/hour I guess. Unless you're planning to build build a full project out of iron blocks, it should provide more than enough iron. Ofcourse it has the best rates when you build it in the spawn chunks. You should always reserve these chunks for important farms. That way, you don't really have to afk at your farms. They produce while you're playing and doing other things i the game.
Me: imma build an iron farm, how hard could it be *Three hours later i only transported one villager.* EDIT: With how this has been going, in a year this comment will have 300 replies with different ways to move villagers...
@@rydercraven-smith2122 Its quite important to note that this just doesnt work on very long ranges, like when your closest village is a literal kilometer away. At that point, portals are basically essential, be it from the Custom Portal mod or those of a Nether railway. Because the nearby village was so far away, and that my nether was a complete mess you can hardly even walk around in, what i ended up doing was trap a villager in a minecart over in the village, make a custom portal linked to a hole in the ground, push the minecart over to the portal then break it so that the villager gets teleported through, and then catch them in a minecart once more on the other side. Afterwards, i just had to push them up a whole lot of rails to get them out of my cave home and into the iron farm.
something important: you have to use warped fence gate for the gate in front of the drop to the lava. if you use regular wood its gonna burn and let water on the lava
I just made this. I don't know if anything changed since this video, but the golems kept getting stuck, even with these fixes. My way to deal with that was to make a "maintenance tower" with a ladder leading to a sidewalk of slabs to prevent golems spawning on them while having a place to shoot them with my crossbow when they do get stuck
@Shrihari Deshpande, it will, but I think the new one will be more efficient. But sometimes you have to hit the iron golems because they get stuck on walls.
This seem to only work with a percentage of zombies who are able to pick up items. But yes, if that zombie has the ability to pick up items, this works.
Holy shit. The same second he says "You need to get a Zombie out here, and in survival that might be frustrating" a zombie walks up on me and jumps in the water. God heard my prayers!
For anyone having trouble If your Golem is getting stuck on the wall/fence post and causing the farm to stop because the golem wont fall, simply replace the walls will 2 block or higher blocks of anything (I used dirt). This way, the end cap of the wall wont catch the golem. MAKE SURE YOU PUT TORCHES OR OTHER SPAWN PROFF THINGS ON THESE BLOCKS SO GOLEMS DONT SPAWN ON THEM

What trapdoors?
Could you elaborate?
@@christophertolosa7142 you place a trap door between each villager and the zombie in their build, those are the ones I mean
@@MZKeditor look for the block above where the zombie is, and remove the surrounding 8 blocks in a circle, then replace them with redstone (this should be one block above the trapdoors between the villagers and the zombie) and hook it up to a daylight sensor. when your farm is more expensive than the actual iron
I mean it's not though. How is stone, wood, lava, water, a crap ton of food for breeding, and at most 44 iron more expensive than infinite iron? If you can't make a food farm you shouldn't be doing this and if you can't find a village then you haven't explored enough or have a shit seed.

Hey bro can u explain this to me in a different way
@@handymanny5343 For me it's producing around 300-400 iron/hour I guess. Unless you're planning to build build a full project out of iron blocks, it should provide more than enough iron. Ofcourse it has the best rates when you build it in the spawn chunks. You should always reserve these chunks for important farms. That way, you don't really have to afk at your farms. Leads. I’m pretty sure you can use those on villagers with a new update
