RIP Raul Julia (Gomez)..Died right after the Sequel-- was only 54, but not before leaving behind an awesome resume of intense and funny over-the-top performances "Kiss Of the Spider Woman", "Tequila Sunrise: "The Cannonball Rally and more. Excellent choice, ladies!!
Raul Julia is one of those actors who elevated anything he was in. Even that terrible JCVD "Street Fighter" movie was great when Raul was on-screen wolfing-down the scenery.
There's an MST3K movie called "Overdrawn at the Memory Bank" that stars Julia. It's a weird little number made by a PBS station that's pretty ambitious in the sci-fi concepts it tries to explore, though it's definitely pretty rough around the edges. My father looked a lot like him and died around the same age as well. Hard to watch anything he's in cause of how similar they look.

The relationships in these movies are great. They're respectful, honest, healthy, fun; what more could you ask for?
The man who plays Gomez actually passed away in 1994 a year after the second Addams family came out….. he was a wonderful actor. 😢

I was born that year and those two movies are a huge part of my childhood. Gomez is the master of suave and we can all aspire to be more like Raul Julia(the actor).
The addams truly are the perfect family im my eyes they love and support each other unconditionally. They do all this while letting each other do what ever they want and show what ever emotions they want truely perfect
I like that it's him bonding with the kids that brings Fester back around subconsciously, also I've been wondering this for a while: since that story Craven told them about finding Fester tangled in a tuna net in Miami turned out to be true, does that imply she knew he really was Fester all along? Especially that line while she's waiting/looking for him: "I never should've used him."

@@ZombiiMilf I don't know that she did. I think it was coincidental, as she wasn't the one who concocted or initiated the scheme or noticed "Gordon"'s resemblance to Fester. The "shouldn't have used him" line is a bit confusing, I agree, but I think it was meant in a more general sense, as in that she shouldn't have counted on Gordon for any scheme. It was demonstrating, I think, that she didn't really love or respect Gordon in any way, so it wasn't like Gordon/Fester lost anything but toxicity when he finally ejected her from his life, even before he regained his memories.
It also sorta fits with the whole vibe that, despite the vicious conformist hate always directed towards the Addamses by the rest of the world, karma seemed to think they were doing it right, and so had chance constantly break in their direction, to the extent that they almost lived charmed lives half-outside the rules of reality. That only stopped when one of the Addamses (Fester, unknowingly) broke the code of unconditional familial love, and returned the moment he broke free of that abusive dysfunction.
It's rumored after the second film Angelica Houston burned her Morticia costume after Raul julia's passing she has refused any opportunity to make a 3rd installment without him. Yes Nathan lane has done well to carry on the Gomez character on Broadway but in my opinion Raul julia was perfect casting for Gomez
that movie has some of the wildest chemistry ever seen between a couple: Anjelica Houston and Raul Julia were amazing. The second part is just as good. they must see it. great reaction, girls.

No ma'am. They're oddities. Most oddities have some sort of threshold for pain. In this case, electricity.
But the movies take it a few steps further. Incest, witchcraft, morbid and homicidal acts, darker sexual experiences, etc.
But yeah, oddities are different types of people. 😊

You wont find a more loving couple then Gomez and Morticia. They are couple goals.
Also parenting goals. While you don’t see it AS much in the movies, they are both highly involved in equally being there for their children. The classic series had a scene of Wednesday practicing ballet with Lurch, both watching and supporting her, another scene had her going to them crying about a knight slaying a dragon and both sympathising and comforting her.

Glad Lia caught that "11 toes" comment. When I was really little my grandfather used to tell me I had 11 fingers and toes. He'd count one as "1,2,3,4,5" and the other as "10,9,8,7,6" and then say "What's 5 and 6?" Haha. He had me stumped for years. ;-)

Just the fact Hollywood was able to get this family on a television series in 1964 was pretty impressive. As it was a very dark comedy for that time period.

This is one of my favorite movies. Raul Julia kills his role as Gomez, and Christopher Lloyd of course is always fantastic. Honestly all of the actors in this movie and it's sequel played the roles perfectly

It's kinda funny that Barry Sonnenfeld did a perfect Tim Burton impression with this, and 30 year later Tim Burton himself takes on thematerial.

All of you should see and react to either clips or episodes of original TV show, Addams Family with original actors: John Astin as Gomez, Carolyn Jones as Morticia, and late comic pioneer (kid actor) Jackie Coogan as Fester. Addams Family filmed back in the 60's.
Angelica Huston aka Morticia had a famous father, John Huston, who was a movie director who had directed many iconic movies in history such as 1941's Maltese Falcon and 1951's The African Queen.
Nice reactions to The Addams Family film, Ladies!!!🎬👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽Thing (The Hand) is actually real. They did not have the ability to make it CGI 31 years ago. The actors body is removed using rotoscoping. A painstaking process that removes the actors body frame-by-frame.
Great movie. 1991, a year to remember. This movie is as old as me. Also, at 20:12, director Barry Sonnenfeld makes a cameo on the train. He also directed the sequel and the Men In Black movies, including Get Shorty in 1995

I like how more and more dogs kept appearing throughout the video. It almost became a absurdist sight-gag; I was half-expecting the entire set to be packed to the rafters with sleeping dogs by the end.

Me and my dad say this in the movie theater when it came out, I as a young person had no idea who there where but he did from the old black and white days and we really enjoyed it..my dad passed away in 2006 or was it 2008.. I just know he had me when he was 42

Thing wasnt done with CGI.. its puppets and "Rotoscoping" a live actor in every shot that needed Thing. This was just before CGI was widely used.

Do you ladies know the Cinema Therapy channel? I discovered it a while back & love it. For those who don't know it, it's run by 2 fun guys, a certified therapist & a movie director that are friends. They use movies & tv show characters & storylines to break down examples to learn from in a fun & interesting way!! For example, they have vid series like "psychology of a hero" & "psychology of a villain" for a lot of characters. They talk true love vs obsession & break down family dynamics of characters. (Oh boy Turning Red was a fun one for the subject of intergenerational trauma!) They discuss how realistic representations of people with different diagnoses are & that it's ok sometimes to just enjoy a story even if you know some things are a stretch. They talk about things that are good or bad examples to keep in mind. For instance the parenting in The Incredibles gets a thumbs up. Well my point is: They did a vid titled "7 things from the Addams Family to keep your marriage healthy" (or wording pretty close to that, it should come up if you search that) & it was so good! Since you like the humor & antics in the movie I recommend the vid because whether you are married, dating or single at the moment it's a fun way to discuss useful examples to keep in mind regarding relationships. Cinema Therapy vids often make viewers laugh (&/or cry) while also giving real thought to the topics.

Lia curls my toes, I think I’m in love.❤ Her inner personality is so genuine and pure, her heart is beautiful. It’s amazing how much you can see who a person is by how they react to movies they watch, and how it affects their feelings and emotions.

If you can, you should check out the American 1960s tv show, The Addams Family, and the Charles Addams cartoons it was based on, which ran in the New Yorker for decades, starting in the 1930s. They’re available in books.

This is such a great movie, especially with its message of inclusivity in our time of fascist anti-trans, anti-gay, anti-everything bullshit. We're all better-off when people are simply allowed to be, and loved for, who they are, instead of conforming to some arbitrary and destructive conception of "normalcy". Let your freak flag fly!
This movie, and its possibly-even-better sequel, was directed by Barry Sonnenfeld, who also did the "Men in Black" trilogy and "Wild Wild West". If you enjoyed this movie, you'll probably like those, too, as the sensibilities are very similar.
