Dice was huge. I'm a girl & saw him live. He actually was the first comedian to sell out Madison Square Garden. He's very vulgar and offensive and we laughed our butts off.
Back when people had a good sense of humor and didn't get so offended by jokes. There were people who didn't like his comedy. They learned to change the channel. Great reaction guys.
I DO consider a person knowing Andrew Dice Clay as a solid condition of being GenX. Kind of a "like him or hate him" situation, like Morton Downey Jr. Actually, he was just a bit earlier than Dice Man, but both are symbolic of a solid GenX upbringing, I would say. 8-)
I saw him live 3 times last time in March 2024. He still got it. Had people in tears laughing. I left the show as he was getting in his limo and he was very humble and as a fan I respected his space and privacy. Think he noticed that and made eye contact as a way of saying thank you. I was in the 3rd row on my feet and clapping most of the show. Some people said his act went too far at times but that is what comedy is all about. It is all a goof really. He is just a Jewish kid from New York who made it big. He is a good guy from all I can tell.
These guys need to watch a full show. This is what happened to guys in last 20 years. They are offended with jokes. Come on the women in late 80s and 90s loved the Diceman
This is back when we all had a sense of humor! lol. There were those that got their panties in a bunch..."feminists" but we tried to ignore them! 😂 He did a movie too.." Ford Fairlane " it had some corny moments but was still funny.
This is evidence of a time when people did not get offended by EVERYTHING another person said or did. People used to have a sense of humor and could laugh at jokes without worrying about scanning the room to see if the feelings police were watching. Do yourself a favor and watch more of his old content. Pay attention to his material, then watch the crowd reactions. Men and women alike were all laughing, and their skin color was did not matter. How and why are probably two questions that came to mind. I can answer that for you. Because back then, we did not get offended by everything. Back then we did not have the media telling us that everything was either racist or sexist. We did not have the media feeding the narrative that everybody of a different race or gender than your own hated you and wanted to destroy your life. We just laughed at jokes and went on with our life.
“The Diceman” was huge in the late 80’s and early 90’s despite a lot of people (mostly women’s & religious groups) being outraged. On the 1989 MTV music awards he performed most of this act on the show (he knew he wasn’t supposed to swear, and it was being broadcast live) and people freaked out so badly that he got banned for life from MTV. When it was announced he was going to host Saturday Night Live lots of people protested outside the studio, and a few of the shows stars refused to appear on that nights show, which went ahead and let him host it despite the bad press and angry protests. He didn’t swear on the show, but he told extremely dirty jokes that still made a lot of women angry. He’s been on the Howard Stern Show many times, as his character “The Diceman” and as himself. His real name is Andrew Clay Silverstein, and although he’s very funny, his real Brooklyn accent isn’t as severe and he’s more mellow than “The Diceman”. He’s also been in many movies and tv shows as other characters.
Dice became really famous for his dirty nursery rhymes on Rodney Dangerfield's Young Comedians Show on HBO. It was shown all the time for about a year before this special, The Diceman Cometh.
People, including women were not easily offended back in the 80’s. He was actually in a movie called Casual Sex. The two main characters were played by Leah Thompson and Victoria Jackson. It’s a little known classic from the 80’s, lots of fun if you enjoy The Dice man.
That was back in the day when the minority that got offended did what watch him. Just because it was offensive to them. Now the minority looks up shows like this so they can virtue signal, on how offensive it is and that it should be cancelled.
These became so popular for the time, he'd do these at the end of the show as an encore. He's got a few specials. You should do a reaction to the story behind "The day the laughter died", it's pretty interesting.
This kind of over the top shock comedy was pretty big then and Dice was the master. It's interesting now that I think about it. Prior to these days back in the 70's and 80's, you wouldn't have heard stuff this vulgar. There was a still a kind of conservative decorum. The lid pretty well got blown off of that and now, it's come full circle, to where you couldn't get away with a skit like this but for different reasons than back in say the 1950's. In the 50's it would have been considered crass and profane, in general, where as today it would be considered incredibly sexist and he would be seen as an enemy of women. Not to say some didn't at the time, but not very many and no one cared what they thought.
@Beyond the Other Side Yeah, at the time Dice came out. I'm talking prior to that, up into the 70's. Dice was one of the pioneers of blowing the lid off of it and I loved it too! But before guys like him, it was pretty well reserved. Even guys like Rickles and Buddy Hackett, who got away with a lot had boundaries that Dice didn't give a crap about. "I was standing in the bank one day with my `thing` up this girls `posterior`," is not something you would have heard prior to that.
Hilarious watching you guys be shocked, this was just normal for us. Now do you see why we laugh at all the kids who are offended by everything these days?
The poems bits were by far his best known ones. That and his entertaining act/character/personality were what it was all about with him. Quite an entertainer, but the rest of his material doesn't stack up well against the all-time great standups.

Id love to have been kickin around in those days..
I think he sold it out two nights in a row.
I miss those days 😢

I'm a 53 year old woman. Yes, we all love the Dice Man! He is hilarious! Nobody was offended by comedy back then. We all had a sense of humor.
I remember watching this special when I was 9 and trying to write down all poems so I could say them in school the next day.
The days no one was offended. The 80s women are tougher than today's men
Welcome to the 80’s boys.😂😂😂😂
90s snapperhead
@@chrischar9428 I saw Dice in 88
@@jimtatro6550 congrats you saw him before his eponymous album dropped

@chrischar9428 I also seen him in the late 80s in California. So don't tell that guy he was wrong

I love the shocked look on your faces. pure gold. this was life was like when we didn't have to worry about offending everyone.
Dice was GREAT. His poems are LEGENDARY!!! Comedians nowadays suck. There will never be another Pryor, Kinison, Clay, Murphy, Dangerfield

Guys, the 80's was a different time, people were ruthless back then. I'm proud to say I grew up with the Dice man. Loved your guys' reaction.
The crowd knows what he's going to say because this whole bit was on the album he had out at the time. Everyone knew most of these! Hahahahaha 😜🤣🤣
Haha that makes sense now 😂
See guys, this is how people used to have a good time back in the day. Man I loved growing up in the 80s!

These were the days when people weren't uptight and afraid to move without "offending " someone.
people use to have fun in the 1980s. its was a great time to be alive
It was a different age, children.
Yeah, a better one
@@pjdurkin8582 Now everyone has sticks up their asses.
That’s what the crowd was expecting when they bought tickets, it’s not like he showed up in church on Sunday and interrupted the preacher.
Boy , times have changed. My first reaction to seeing the diceman. Wasn't, Oh my gosh ! JFC, BOYS , ? Participation ribbons for ya showing up😁😁😉

Dice was a big hit on College Campuses
Now days there would be riots
@@rileyandmike The new thin-skin breed of kids would be so shocked and offended.
They're not poems, they're nursery rhymes.
This guy sold out stadiums and was the first person to be ban from MTV for life
Dice is the shit!!!
We loved to laugh in the day....now kids don't know if they are a boy or girl...hmmmmm..... Peace
You gotta check out Greg Girlado and his roasts.
These albums were huge and he'd sell out gigantic rooms. Basically everyone there knows all his classic lines.
Andrew was totally in a league of his own! Dirty, rude, crude jokes, no one offended and had a great time laughing till their sides and gut hurt.
The Diceman Cometh 😂😂😂
Proof there was a time eveyone could laugh at jokes, regardless of the topic. No one was offended, if they were they did not watch, real simple.

All I want for Christmas is to see you guys react to Robert Schimmel from Dangerfield’s.😂👍
We'll see what we can do 😎
Dice was HUGE back in the day.
Check out Redd Foxx and or Lawanda Page stand up. It is from the 70s/80s They are very good at what they do/did. LoL 😂

I see why they don't understand.
He did these old ones at dangerfields comedy house in the early part of his career that's why people knew them
HBO special called The Dice Man Cometh…another reactor named Eddy B TV has it broken into 5 parts, funny shit. Nice reaction.

Nursery Rhymes
People would want to be in the front row so he would insult them.
Back when people weren't so soft and politically correct all the time
history... fun! :) Jesus! ♥
It’s interesting, and kinda sad, that kids today have the mind of little old ladies of decades past.
IT’S HILLARIOUS TO WATCH NEW BLOOD EXPERIENCE THE DICEMAN!!! Great reaction Kids! You should watch some more of him!
Nursery rhymes
