Texan Breakfast Tacos at Yellow Rose - Eating with Robert 0011

MANHATTAN AND BREAKFAST TACOS. Together at last. Today on Eating with Robert, I cross the border from Brooklyn to the island of Manahatta to savor the delights of Yellow Rose - and it’s about as close as you can get to Texas these days.
Breakfast tacos are something I’ve seen tweeted about a lot, usually in the same sentence as the word “Austin”. But is it possible that it’s not breakfast tacos that are endemic to Austin, but Twitter? Yellow Rose is helmed by San Antonio transplants, bean and cheese tacos proudly displayed on a menu alongside scrambled egg tacos with housemade bacon. The chef’s culinary roots also took him through Superiority Burger - one of my favorite places ever - and his vegan queso stands as tall as anything on that menu.
And did I mention Barbacoa? Holy hell. Be sure to stop in on Sundays.

I was so relieved when you said that it was San Antonio style (I was expecting you to say Austin and those foo's think store bought over home made tortillas is okay lol). Any time I go check out a breakfast taco spot out here for the first time I try 3 tacos: Chorizo and Egg, Barbacoa & Bean and Cheese. I feel like those three give me a sense of how good the rest of the menu is gonna be and if you can't get that right it's on to the next one.
