I actually built a arcade cab, and have 4 ultra stick 360. Oval tops. Rgb buttons as well so the controlls glow and match the arcade games there from or match a n64 or game cube or xbox controller. Its a 4 player cab and each player has 7 buttons. The sticks are really fun playing smash. Its interesting because you barely have to touch it to do tilts, and it feels incredibly smooth. If your playing steam use x360 ce. That was the only way i could do it. One issue with the sticks is actually playing 4way games like pacman and dig dug. Its extreemly hard to judge if your straight up or straight to the left or right. So you should consider a octoganal gate. That would also make the stick kinda mimic a game cube stick.

And side not re4 is amazing on those sticks lol, completely unnecessary but having a arcade cab that has classics, re4 is just a must

It looks cool, my only concern is the lack of a c stick. Otherwise moving in the air and doing aerials is going to be awkward, you have to drift in the way you want to jump or jump again if you want to up air

That is true, but it has a solution that is use "analog stick" instead of "digital" like in this video ua-cam.com/video/Be2r-rG0y5g/v-deo.html. The problem is that currently there are very few analog sticks, and they are very expensive, in addition to finding a pcb compatible with this type of stick that works with a gamecube is even more difficult. The easiest thing is to buy one that already exists that is designed to play smash like this: www.altlabcontrollers.com

Hey, Smash Stick just relaunched their kickstarter, from the info I have so far they made the stick a bit shorter and the throw is apparently similar to a Seimitsu LS-40. and of course they have an octagon gate. what do you think will dashdancing work better on that than on the stick you showed here?

It might, I also shortened the throw on my stick as well though. I d be really excited if they got it working better, but I d be cautious until we see more performance info

Brooks fighting boards (and the other PCBs they sell) have a neat feature where you can emulate left or right analog sticks. i build a arcade stick with a Zero Pi board from brook and that also works on switch. i played with it a few times on a switch on smash ultimate and it works quite well. i only recently got into arcade sticks, and before i used full buttons but it worked well the one time i tried it on a switch now! i 3D printed the case and some other parts for my stick. so if you ever need some help with something like that i might be able to assist :)

Hay! Really interesting video, so this is the stick component that you wired into an already existing board then? I've been kind of looking out for a commercial one for a while now but only came across that smash stick thing. Was this easy to convert? Really enjoying your content both on here and the podcast, keep it up!

Hey man! It was fairly straight forward to get working. The only downside is that the games and emulators that you use it with need to support input mapping well. :-)

@@TheElectricUnderground That's cool, but I take it that means I couldn't use it on an xbox 360? That's where most of my shmup library is, or using it on the switch for smash bros ultimate? Might have to wait for the smash stick...

I guess you can assign a button as alt. Then you will have 15 buttons or so

that would be pretty awesome, I have been playing fps on arcade stick recently actually, but using the stick as the arrow keys and mouse to aim.

Is it possible to play melee on a digital stick?
