Noone here has read the instructions as to get charge out you must first give a press of the battery test button to activate charge mode yet this is not even attempted in the review video
Yeah, I tried that off camera and it still did not work. I contacted REI and returned it for I was sent a defective BioLite. Thanks for the advice and for clicking on by... Do you have a similar BioLite Solar Panel, and if so, what are your thoughts?
@@PeterHerget yes I have the same Biolite panel and so far it performs quite well especially when the internal battery has some charge to take up slack when you get momentary cloud cover

У них штекер по питанию тупо слабый. У меня такаяже и тоже тупила. Разобрал и поджал сами клеммы питания и панели. Они там защелкиваются но болтаются как карандаш в стакане на самих клеммах.и BaseCamp починил минусовой был обжат на винилку.и в один прекрасный момент отключилась у людей и расплавилась. Я все починил и спаял новый обдув по образцу
Been looking to buy one of these units. Looking at reviews, there seems to be a lot of product variability out of the box. Some units just straight up don't work. The reviews when they do work say the unit is really good, and customer service for replacement sounds good too, but seems like rolling the dice at purchase, then rolling again on replacements until you get one that works. It's a shame really.
Yes, that is unfortunate. I was truly excited about this product for portable solar charging. And yes, the reviews were quite mixed.

Nope! It never worked during the first week. There are multiple reviews on the R.E.I. website too about the poor quality. The concept is awesome, the weight was just fine for me; however, the BioLite Quality Control Dept. needs to return to college A.S.A.P.

I’ve owned 2 of the small phone sized solar chargers and neither of them worked unfortunately.
Bummer… I am doing more online research next week before my next solar panel purchase
@@PeterHerget i would be curious to what you might recommend for hikes and backpacking trips. looking for a solar charger for when out in the mountains..
I hope to give you an answer soon. I'll be purchasing another solar panel as soon as REI processed my refund for returning the broken BioLite.

You are most welcome 🙏 I read more reviews on the R.E.I. website, and a few others, and I was not the only customer that had quality issues. The design and features were pretty good. Yet, even after the first three hours of usage I had my doubts- another missed opportunity caused by poor design, poor choices of parts, and a severely limited Quality Assurance. I plan to try more backpacking Solar chargers in the Spring when I return to the Grand Canyon - South Rim🤠
I can charge my phone with mine (after hitting the button), but can't charge my inreach device. It starts to charge and then stops a few seconds later.

I actually just returned it to REI. I need to be able to charge my inreach. So never actually used it except testing at home.
Bummer, perhaps R.E.I., or BioLite will release a newer, and more well built solar panel next year...

Bought this panel about 5 years ago used the panel for 3 years until i bought a blavor charger store the biolite 10 panel away went back to use it after a year in storage solar panel don't work will accept charging from a wall sockets but not the solar panels don't have a clue WHY IT NOT WORKING ANYMORE

I did read the instructions before filming and contacted support. I don't have the instructions anymore, so I will have to give the benefit of the doubt...

I agree. And I hope to have solar panels on my roof sometime in the next 22 years...
The battery is shot, if the circuit doesn’t see the 3.6v from the battery, Solar or charging will not work.
Yeah, that was a good theory. I have a new solar panel now that I'm testing made by Pale Blue... And the video will be coming soon!
How disappointing
You can NO idea! I really needed this portable solar panel to work for I needed this past weekend while hiking. I was really disappointed that it did not work as designed.
