Awesome video, thanks! For anyone watching this in 2024 and beyond, OBS has added audio capture with the "Game Capture" source (currently in beta). So if you're just interested in capturing gameplay and game audio, without any desktop audio, you can follow these steps: 1. Follow the instructions in this video up until 6:22 2. Create a “Game Capture” source 3. Select “Capture Audio (BETA)” 4. Create the "Game Capture" source - You should see “Desktop Audio” and “Game Capture” as audio sources in Audio Mixer 5. Go to Settings -> Audio -> Global Audio Devices 6. Disable Desktop Audio 7. You should see “Desktop Audio” gone from the Audio Mixer 8. Start recording and it should not be capturing desktop audio anymore
Thanks for the help, dude! I was having issues with the Xbox Gamebar eating up a lot of resources and making my games stutter when I was trying to save clips, OBS works a lot better and doesn't affect my PC's performance. The video was easy to follow and very helpful, thanks a bunch!!
What an awesome tutorial! I was looking for open-source game clippers after I started getting suspicious of Medal's privacy... but of course, OBS, it's open-source! The tutorial seemed long at first but it was worth it since it covered every scenario. I've got the basics set up but later I'm gonna add the audio cue, and audio captures that ignore that cue in case I accidently clip twice.
Damn. I wish I decided to do this earlier. I have sooooooo many clips recorded from NVIDIA that are large. I was already splitting my game and mic audio in two separate tracks, but being able to add more applications is huge! This is going to be great for recording VR stuff. Thanks!
Quick tip: Add an obs studio shortcut to %appdata%\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\Startup Edit the shortcut target after the last speech mark to have the launch arguments --startreplaybuffer -- scene "[scene]" OBS will now automatically on launch set its scene to whatever scene you choose and start the replay buffer. I have OBS configured to autmatically minimise to system tray also which is nice.
