Hilary Hahn's playing is absolutely magnificent, unmistakable for anyone else's. She has a unique way of giving proper voice to every note and dynamic change, and never leaves a single detail of the music overlooked for the sake of flair and drama
there is something very special about this song... every time i listen to it... it takes me somewhere special... a place I have never been before... Thank you Mr. Howard
Brings me back to being 11 years old on the bus ride to school, just playing this piece in my head since I personally had no way to listen to the OST at 11 years old on a bus to school in 2004 hahah. Since it’s named “The Gravel Road” I’d watch outside the bus window, mesmerised by the way the road looked like it was running in reverse as the bus drove along over its surface
Grow up about 25mins from the road the movie was filmed on near the PA/DE line. Alot of old legends from this road which is out in the rolling hills 10mins from Brandywine battlefield. This music fits this region to a tee. It's very eriee during the fall and winter months, yet a truly beautiful area.
Mr. Howard gets me on my knees by this magical piece of music.. One of the strongest film scores ever...especially The Gravel Road.. Gets me every time...
I really love this music from The Village, one of my favorite movies. I watch it over and over again.. Makes me go to another world, you too, I know.. Emotions arise.
Dude same here. I'm a full on metalhead. 97% of what I listen too, and my playlist is metal music. Specifically melodic metalcore/melodic death metal, but then there's music like this which I love. It almost gives me anxiety though because it brings up good memories of what I used to have but lost over the years.
Such a beautiful piece of art. I love to just lay down and listen to this soundtrack it is so calming. M Nights movies usually have amazing powerful soundtracks.
I was apart of my high school band's winter guard program 2 years ago. Our show was entitled "into the woods", and we used this song as our show music. I loved performing to it and to this day, i can still dance every count, every set of flag and rifle work i can still do. I love this song.
+sheyenne cherolis that is amazing.....I'm in marching band and winter drumline and I have seen a fair share of winter guard shows at various contests. this would be absolutely beautiful for a guard show, wow!! you are so lucky you got to perform to this. band kids unite!!!
Carl Hester won a silver medal in 2012 London Olympics on his horse Utopia In Freestyle Dressage to this music. It's a stunning piece of horsemanship on You Tube
For some reason when I first listened to this particular piece, separate from the movie, I had amazing wedding music in my head. The first 56 seconds: Flower Girl tosses petals, with the pastor asking everyone to rise at the 54 second mark. And then the music clears way until the 2 minute mark for the bride, before fading out.... What do you think?
This is clearly Olympic sailing dejectedly back to south hampton after hearing his brother Titanic is at the bottom of the ocean and Carpathia tells him he doesnt need assistance from him. He looked just like Titanic and would probably scare the survivors
a very under rated movie. It's a brilliant film. It was marketed as more of a horror film which got people upset because it's really a gorgeous love story with a little horror.
Well, I did like the idea that (spoilers) the monster was actually a creation of the elders, but I felt like that was a good enough twist on its own. The fact that it took place in present day was a bit out there.
+Kitty Grimm I would have liked it better if the monsters actually ended up being real and not Noah in the suit at the end. He said there use to be talk of creatures in the woods.
Johnny Five Interesting. Like they took an idea from an old legend to keep people in, only to find out it wasn’t a legend at all? I can see that working.
@@KittyxGrimm I agree that the modern day was unnecessary. That said, I LOVED the way that this handled Ivy's fear of the woods. Even after being told the monsters aren't real, she is constantly in terror that they are *out there* and watching her. She covers her ears and sings songs to herself at night. She wipes the mud off of her cloak in panic, because she has been told all her life that they are real. And then she is chased by a monster through fields of red berries (whether or not those berries exist doesn't matter, they illustrate how she is feeling). She kills it by playing the game at the stump: turn your back to the woods, arms outstretched, and see how long you can stand there before getting scared. What is it that Lucius said about holding the record for that game? "The only time that I feel fear as others do is when I think of you in harm. That is why I am on this porch, Ivy Walker. Because I fear for your safety above all others." Bravery isn't the absence of fear. It is the ability to walk into something that scares you *to death.* Ivy goes into the woods for love. Even being told of what is out there by her father, she is terrified. But when she thinks of Lucius in harm, she will venture into the abyss, so that she can hold his hand once again.

This is such a romantic piece. It tells a story all by itself.

the music by itself made the movie great. the soundtrack is a masterpiece!!
No argument there
should have won the Oscar

Hauntingly beautiful.

Can not disagree))))
I agree that the soundtrack really transformed this film. I associate this piece with fall, a nice warm sound.
You're right, this is a great autumn soundtrack.
Of course you agree you dumbass
The greatest part of the film and one of the greatest soundtracks of all time.
This music makes me sad. And yet I want to keep coming back to it.
I love my hardcore metal, but when this soundtrack plays i get chills, thinking about different times in life........2019 still listening

This is my ballet recital music it's just perfect!
Really? I would have loved to see that. I just adore this piece of music. The idea of combining this with dancing is fantastic.
Utterly gorgeous. .no words!

Have you seen the movie yet? It's a soaring romantic drama, and this is a very romantic scene. You pretty much hit the nail on the head.
@@TheWickedWizardOfOz1 I've owned it since it came out on DVD. So, to answer your question... no, I haven't seen it. 😜
Simplesmente linda música ❤️❤️
The intro is simply unique .

DIVINEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
What gorgeous music. Anyone tell me if the movie itself is worth seeing?
It is a brilliant movie, a tad scary but totally worth it!!
I just watched it... liked it! :-)
Victoria Haneveer Bryce Dallas Howard's eyes are the best character in the movie.

A great movie. I'm glad you also liked it! :)
Grandeur..
A melody that starts at 2:24 reminds me about The Happening Main Theme, also from the Shyamalan's movie and also by Howard)))
geniussss
If you like this, listen to his new score for the hidden life

What would have been more cool with the twist is that if the monsters ended up being real instead of Noah In the suit.
Welp... Guess I wont have to see the movie anymore... Cheers mate.

It's been thirteen years you really care about a spoiler after thirteen years?
Did anyone by chance read the book? I didn't _"read"_ it personally, but we read it, or the teacher read it in our class in I think 5th grade.
I liked the movie, but the ending kinda ruined it for me. The soundtrack is *gorgeous* though!
+Kitty Grimm Curious, how did the ending ruin it for you?
