Well, it may well understand, at least the meaning behind the sound, as well as the associated body language. But cats are contrary, and in this case, I reckon the cat has worked out that that area is for communication, and is seeing if it can communicate with the human on the cat's terms, not the human's. It's almost saying "I shouldn't need to press a damn button. They're making you stupid. Everything I'm doing should tell you what I'm asking, it's just you're not paying attention to anything but the buttons, silly monkey." And yes, I'm probably overthinking it, but I care not 🤣

I feel sorry for the cat. this torture/teasing is unnecessary, and obviously this human thinks their animals are there for internet clout/entertainment. Dogs might be able to train humans with these buttons, but cats? dont care to train humans. they've already done it at least twice in recorded human history. Yes, we are trained by cats, and dogs are trained by us. so dogs, conversely, can train us better than cats will with these weird speech buttons, because they can't live without us but cat's are fine without humans. they train us, we train dogs.

Cats are very accustomed to using specific body language and meows to their human owners as they don’t meow at their own species. So they are already “ talking” to us in a sense. Which is why they are les prone to using their talk buttons and set on their ways - my hypothesis
I think that's a very good one. I've always been alittle 50/50 with the buttons and choosing whether to use them or not, both my cats 100% understand English at the very least my English and dialect I've taught them(which is why when close visitors are over using their personal nicknames or making new ones is important) so I'm worried that if I taught them buttons I would do it inaccurately and regress what they already know 😓

If it's the dog's toy, then it makes sense why the cat wouldn't want to move it. She wants the human to move the toy instead so that the dog doesn't think she's trying to play when she just wants to lay down and rest.
