  • Hey All! This was another excellent song, really loved the chorus with the effects on her voice in the studio version. And very cool to see her replicate it live!

Thanks for checking this one out, Mike! I love the song and video. They have strong Blade Runner vibes for me. The video reminds me of a huge electronic billboards in a future dystopian city. In the chorus she electronically pitch shifts her voice which makes it sound otherworldly. She has such a cool style that's unlike anyone else. Glad you liked it! Would love to catch one of her shows some day.

her music has so many layers. her husband is doing all the visuals on her music, that's why they fit so perfectly. i think they read each others minds or something.
they use those old led-commercial panels, you know, where they usually display commercials. the effect is nice, isn't it?
but i really really love her precise live performances, its like a swissmade pocket watch. these women work so well together.
if you like, listen to "red virgin soil" from the same concert. instrumental only. so cool!
    nice reaction!
p.s. there are many artists, who are live better than in the studio.
but agnes' music videos are always extremely well done and more artwork, she is killing it live AND in the studio.

I also really like Red Virgin Soil from the concert. The video is so well produced, focussing on percussionist (Louise Dugan) at the precise right times.

    @Yeedeed Hello,
Happy to find you again on a new reaction.
Great singer, I had already listen some of her songs before including this one. She has her own universe. A true artist.
I think you should react to a french singer name "Clara Luciani" for her song "La grenade". If you like be surprised.
She has a particular voice. She's an ex model (5,97 inch ...A tall woman therefore! lol But if gives more force to the words she sings in this song in particular). You'll love the bass I think, the work on the reverb for the voice that gives that song this so particular sound. Yes a good French pop-rock song if you already don't know (she just come to out a new official video song on her YT channel).
I proposed a good English translation of "La grenade" on "lyrics Translate" website.
Thanks again for this react and have a good week friend. :)

Of course this is the first one I want to watch after work :) Her music is so dreamy and awesome...
"Camera's Rolling" has the cutest video and "Island Of Doom" the best special effects. You also shouldn't miss "The Curse". All of these songs are great, of course.

This song is frickin brilliant. Just FIRE. And the vocal effects make her sound like a bit like Andy Partridge of xtc (around the time of "dear god"), which in no way is a bad thing.

Hi Mike! Love this song. In an interview, Agnes mentioned that this album Citizen of Glass was inspired by technology (mainly mobiles) and the lack of privacy on social media. Citizen of Glass is an abstract way of titling someone who lives through their glass LCD mobile screen (Sort of like how the series Black Mirror is about the dark side of technology and the name referring to screens that are turned off and reflect black like black mirrors) ... I like to think the pixelated effect of the video represents that reference to mobile phones and the digital, while the song refers to a relationship that is opened wide to public scrutiny and how social media can destroy the sanctity of an interpersonal relationship. This voice distortion in the chorus for me represents the dilution of intimate aspects of being in love in the digital age.

Thanks for doing this one. The Philharmonie de Paris is one of my favourite concert recordings of all time (and I go back a ways). Agnes asks a lot from her musicians and they deliver!
I see you have a Dead Can Dance video in your list. I don’t know them as well so I’ll have to check that out. Agnes was going to tour with them before Covid hit. I’m holding my tickets in hopes that they can pick it up.
