As a Sunderland fan, I can’t believe how many Arsenal fans turned against Wenger as time went on. The man was pure class and did a great job keeping them in the Champions League during the stadium move. The 03-04 season was the first season I properly paid attention to football and the invincibles helped me fall in love with football

I’m a 20 year old Arsenal fan, and I absolutely agree with The fact that Wenger is one of the greatest managers ever do it. He revolutionise the game and he is the man that brought Arsenal to the heights that It reached. I have nothing but respect and admiration for Wenger. Furthermore, I agree that the fact that he took us to the Champions League places despite the teams he had his remarkable.
But last few seasons Arsenal was slightly declining under Wenger. As certain teams got better and spent more and updated the tactics we kind of fell behind and a large portion of his fans including myself thought that he took this club as far as he could and that it was time for a change. But I did not agree with him being abused verbally out of the job by certain fans but that’s how it goes unfortunately, football fans get frustrated and they say words that they don’t mean.
But no matter what managers we have in the future and the matter how successful they make us they will never be another Arsene Wenger. He needs his statue.

What the hell is happening at Sunderland anyway? They are a big club with a great stadium and great support, and yet they're languishing down the divisions for years on end. Why? They should at the very least be one of the teams that has a few years in the Premiership and maybe goes down to the Championship occasionally, only to soon come back up again. They are surely the equal of the likes of Norwich or Fulham or, my team, Stoke City. Just wondering.

He took a lot of flack on behalf of management because he clearly wasn’t the (only) one to decide on what should be done with the money! I’m sure if he was a manager with no vision he would have demanded money like the current crop of managers, just to buy players ready to win stuff outright, which honestly if you look at Man U and Barça now, you realize that these things are unsustainable! Arsene Wenger has commented football matches on French TV and I loved listening to him because he talked only football. He explained what was going on on the pitch like a coach, a strategist, a teacher. It gave us to see the game in a completely different angle only football professionals can see, even people who didn't understand anything to football, everything became clear, he opened our perspectives and it was simply very interesting to listen. Made the game more interesting to watch.
Unfortunately he didn't stay long but Lizarazu eventually took over and he has the same approach. Except that he explains from a football academy coach's perspective, not the big club's coach perspective. Which is also very interesting because he talks more about the football basics.

That's exactly why modern football is a circus. Players nowadays lost all respect to their peers, superiors and most of all to the fans. When you see 18 year old millionnaires threatening clubs and coaches and acting like drama queens, just because they had a couple of good seasons and have a couple million followers on social media. While at the time established legends would kill on the pitch just to earn the respect of the coach,of the fans. they played for the club, they fought for the club and they bled for the club. Look at United under Sir Alex, no player was above the club, Prime Beckham still has the scars to show for it. Wenger would win more like 2,3 PLs if he was financially supported by the board. Almost won his 4th in the 07/08 season but Eduardo's injury affected the team a lot and we started dropping points and lose the 1st postion to Man United. The 15/16 season too, we missed that when key players were injured in important events

I think Man U and Chelsea were a bit better than Arsenal in 2008 but of course they both went all the way to the CL final so it was a great opportunity for Arsenal to go for the league. Only finished 4 pts off in the end, and towards the end of the season as you say they missed a couple of players and won only 1 out of 8 games between February and April.

I love the guy believe me, but he had to go and took the piss by staying as long as he did. I really do understand how it looks from the other side of the fence but Wenger destroyed his own legacy. No individual is bigger than the club. Incredibly depressing settling for the same mediocre results year after year. Had to be a change, even if we risk doing worse which we obviously have.
