As a CTS-V owner myself glad to see one on the channel. The Gearbox needs a TCU tune really wakes up the transmission. For brakes I have DBA slotted two piece rotor with ss lines and different fluid with hawk race pad and car stops decently considering the weight.

The shift hang was due to hitting limiter. Stupid GM fuel cut. Towards the end of the lap you started short shifting it a bit which helped 😄 But that thing could def use some extra cooling mods or better fluids!
@@panagiotisf7228 The only real complaints people had with this car is the slightly sub-par interior and the 8-speed automatic wasn't a good fit for the LT4 engine. But I believe a 6-speed manual was available!
If i was the Golf this would the exact type of car i would hate to be behind haha. The Golf was way quicker in the corners but has to back off and then the Cadillac just speeds off in the straights 😂

looked to me like the Golf was content in following the Caddy. he was clearly fast enough to push the issue and overtake in the corners but he seemed to enjoy following and simply watching the Caddy.
I could feel the weight through the screen, sometimes it seems like it's going to lean into the wall, and that supercharger whine somehow amplifies this feeling. Cool how Golf with 1/3 of displacement and power could keep up with this Caddy!
That's my daily driver! The engine sound is unmistakable. It's a true dual personality car and awesome to drive. Tour mode is nice and relaxed. Flip it in a PTM mode, choose the setting with you desired level of freedom (the throttle mapping, mag suspension, chassis control, and eLSD), and it performs some magic on the track. Great driving! The brakes on mine are very dependant on the brake fluid. Stock brake fluid is going to get squishy and even vapor lock pretty easily. Switch to SRF and the stock steel brakes feel completely different
If you can find any true V car with a 6 speed we would love to see that. Others say it's one of the best gearboxes out there, would like to hear what you have to say about it!!
Only stick V's you'll find are a V1 CTS , Maybe a XLR "if your lucky" , a V2 CTS "if your lucky to find one" .....or the brand new black wings that cost more than any of em lol.

@@RDSAlphard Googled it as well rn; says ~1900kg DIN kerb. That's also on the low side of what I had expected. Other factors may be a) center of gravity - lots of weight high up due to the front V8 b) passengers probably totalled around 250 kgs.

@@stoneeh CG is probably better than you're expecting, considering how light LS/LT engines are relative to their displacement. The supercharger hurts it a bit compared to the LT1, but it's still a remarkably compact engine with a lower CG than you'd expect.

Some game developer has to get this guy a game "Misha's Nurburgring Garage", and with permission of the owners have a select recreations featuring of some of these cars to "race around the track " and mod till full spec what we see here on the channel , ghost time trials, the track randomly populated with the cars and other vehicles you can come across on a lap, bike , vans , trucks buses etc. Yeah ok there are same types out there but kudos to all you car builders taking you machines for Misha to showcase round the track and huge kudos to Misha taking you all safely along for the ride . ( i don't know how license would work etc for the Nurburgring and vehicle manufacturers)
Actually CTS V was made for the track nice run good to finally see it out there, needs a few mods to be top performer love to see the CT5 V A10 addition ..

Misha, I always wondered how do you deal with cars on the brink of overheating. In the case of the CTSV the temps were way above the normal , oil +150 , coolant+110 . Aren't you scared that the car will just overheat and blow the engine ?
You did great. Especially when considering you had to learn and then remember to constantly shift around 500 rpms early. It's crazy that the shifts on it seem so laggy and kind of lazy now when compared to most other "sports sedans".

The car needs a tune bad, upgraded brakes and R tires and it would be flying. Center of gravity had to be off too with the passenger. Should have made his seat a lot lower 😂
It's a low revving engine. 6000rpm is the end of the world, it makes all its power and torque low down for daily driveability. The delay in the shifting was just because the revs were too high for the shift. Note how the "shortshift" the shifts were quick and smooth. The shortshift is normal shift in this.
Great video to see the differences between heavy business cars (that some people think "sporty") and hot-hatches (even when Golf is not the best one and a bit heavy as well).

Wow. Surprised by “performance” of the car given its weight. The LT4 (CTSV Engine) is the same in the C7 Z06 which is notorious for heat soak issues. I dream of having a C7 Z06 one day, and hope a upgraded heat exchanger and coolant expansion may help. I really would love to see a lap with a C7 Z06 7MT, to see if the chassis is even capable of performance. Thanks Misha!!!
Fun car. I have AWD sts-V and it's like throwing around a brick with a wonderfully padded interior. Such a joy to drive. And yes, it looks heavy to drive, but it's even heavier than it looks, haha.
Its fine, if the correct MFG suggested oil is used, its good to around 150C, probably need to have an oil change for good measure after a track day.. Older oils would start baking off or sludging up
Is there any software upgrade for the automatic? Usually they can be made to shift pretty fast. An oilcooler and upgraded pads are nececassy. But apart from that it seems pretty solid. Definitely has the power.
I was quite impressed how well that monster pig managed heat; the coolant temp recovered quite nicely after Brünchen but if the guy wants to track this vehicle (guessing unlikely, although it’s nice to have guaranteed AC for “luxo-track mode” 😅) a second or larger oil cooler would be ‘de rigueur.’ Definitely wasn’t surprised that the tires and brakes suffered; Caddys aren’t known for their ‘added lightness.’ You’d almost have to run 335mm tires to handle the girth around the corners and in braking… Cheers, I’m counting down to the Giulia lap! 🖖😎👍
Well THAT was different :-) The CTS-V did well considering, It IS a Caddy after all but respectable and with a bit of sorting quiet a nice track cruiser. I suspect there were a few WTF looks in rear view mirrors full of Caddy.
I would absolutely LOVE to see a V1 or V2 CTS-V on your channel sometime. And a standard transmission I think would be the way to go, since these auto's seem to be sourced from a Chevy van.

I love this car, very special vehicle compared to M5, E63 etc. (in Europe). I remember that this car did very good laptimes back in the days, considering its size and weight. The new CT5-V Blackwing went around some circuits in the US faster than M5 CS. And you can have it with a manual :) Would be nice to see it in your video Misha. Great driving!
I would love to see him drive the CTS-V Blackwing and the smaller one the CTS-V4 with the twin turbo V6. I think either of those would be better suited for the ring as this year seems to be better for the Autobahn and consistent high speed cruising.

The 8 speed is lazy with paddles better to leave it in auto mode and in the competitive mode

Google say 1,878kg, it's lighter than expected but IDK if said weight is accurate.

The Z06 had overheating issues. Not the CTS-V V3 because it was solved with the wet sump.

Yea 150 and its not an old car so i guess modern american cars dont need a warning for very high oil temps.
I guess that’s why it was struggling to shift at one point, engine and gearbox coolant temps were pretty close to the red zone tbh

The new CT5-V Blackwing went around some circuits in the US faster than M5 CS. And you can have it with a manual :) Would be nice to see it in your video Misha. Great driving!
I would love to see him drive the CTS-V Blackwing and the smaller one the CTS-V4 with the twin turbo V6. I think either of those would be better suited for the ring as this year seems to be better for the Autobahn and consistent high speed cruising.
