About JamesandKarla:
Hey everyone! We are husband-and-wife architectural/interior photographers based in NYC. We started our video channel to act an artistic intervention to help raise awareness of the importance of small independently-owned businesses and the unique character these shops add to the streets and neighborhoods of New York City.
In our videos we will showcase portraits of storefronts and shop owners in New York City & beyond and capture moments of city life that capture the spirit, energy and cultural diversity of individual neighborhoods. We also bring our dog, Hudson along whenever we can.
We made it our mission to thoroughly document unique 'mom-and-pop' stores when we began to notice the alarming rate at which they were disappearing. Our critically acclaimed books include “STORE FRONT: The Disappearing Face of New York”, “New York Nights”, “STORE FRONT II- A History Preserved” and “Broken Windows-Graffiti NYC”.

Hi James, Karla and sweet boy Hudson! Even though there was a down pour it still turned out to be a nice stream. I like looking at all the property and houses. It was so cute seeing Hudson near the Elbo Room. I never knew how many variations of Palm Trees there are. Stay dry and enjoy the rest of your night. Hugs to all.💖

Thanks for the livesteam. Very wet and dangerous on the road with this storm but a great walk around Fort Lauderdale and looking at the beutiful houses im the neighborhoods and boats plus going to places like the "Elbow room." Thanks for sharing this with us and please get home safely.

I love these rainy day videos the beach is beautiful in the rain. I remember the books you mentioned james. Ian OK You Are OK and Looking For Mr Goodbar. Its fun to g back and look at old books again. The Wow house was my favorite.

It seems like Thunder storms in the south are wilder than up north!😂 I was in New Orleans and this down pour kept stopping and starting! The lightning and Thunder were loud!
Spent summers in Ft. Lauderdale growing up, Plantation to be exact. Then I lived there in the eighties.
We are glad our video brought back good memories of growing up in the Fort Lauderdale area. It’s so beautiful and we have highlighted the City of Plantation in a few of our videos including a tour of some of the homes decorated at Christmas 🎄 this past winter.
I was watching Elbo Room Live Band Cam and I saw Karla looking in on the patio lol 😂❤

I’m from Pittsburgh, the Stanley Cup was a friends house when The Penguins won the pennant.
That is so cool that you got to see the Stanley Cup in Pittsburgh at a friends house after the Penguins won 🏆. We had never seen it up close before so it was fun to see!

To much rain for me. I can’t stand to drive in it.
Chalkmark the rain was certainly coming down so hard that it made it very difficult to see. Thankfully we made it through the storm but don’t like driving when it’s like that either as it can be dangerous.
