Kyra and I are driving up the California coast from Channel Islands to Pinnacles. Only a couple hours inland from Big Sur, Pinnacles features two sets of Talus caves and the largest bird in North America: the California Condor. We arrived to Pinnacles Campground late in the evening, and our campsite had been taken by some van lifers. Fortunately, there was another site available. We had approx. 24 hours to experience the entire park, so we decided on the Condor Gulch to High Peaks Trail Loop. This trail brought us through all of the highlights - the Bear Gulch Cave and Reservoir, the Steep and Narrow, and Condor Gulch. Unfortunately, we were not able to see any Condors, but we saw plenty of turkey vultures! The hike was beautiful and not too strenuous - we listed lazily and completed the 6 miles in about 3.5 hours.
Overall, this park is very new (established in 2013) and has a certain charm to it. It felt similar to a state park in the sense that the visitor center and camp store were combined into this small cabin, and the park was generally small. If you are swinging over to the coast, make sure to add Pinnacles to the list!
If you didn;t notice, I've got a BRAND NEW PIECE OF GEAR that I'm so pumped to show you. The 17" Blackstone Tabletop Griddle - gifted to me by the SpiceBoys. They've got an incredible assortment of spices, sauces, grills, and accessories to beef up your BBQ. Go check them out:

Feel like the Tarantulas are a metaphor for life

Fun fact: Darryl Hall and John Oates’ classic 1984 hit ‘Maneater’ was actually based on the tarantulas at Pinnacles National Park, which at that time was Pinnacles National Monument as I learned in this video!
