Thank you SO much for this video! I have 3 identical carts & 2 are leaking in the swivel. My father passed last summer & I’ve spent the past yr trying to fill his very big shoes in caring for the house, 10 acres, blackberries/fruit trees-as mom is no longer able. I can’t tell you how many seemingly small things like these leaks have made me appreciate how much he knew how to do & how much he did. Tasks that take me days to figure out, he would have fixed in mins. These hose carts have been so frustrating bc I haven’t been able to figure out how to take the swivel apart & hated to spend $200 a piece to replace. Dads workshop is filled w/thousands of parts for every repair imaginable but knowing how to repair, what parts to use etc has been time consuming. So I thank u today for helping me. I’m truly grateful.

LOL, never thought I could enjoy watching someone fixing a hose reel but I did, I did. Thank you so much for your videos, knowledge and saving some of the weirdest contraptions I've seen in a while.
We get snow down here and the kids want to put it in the freezer till summer. lol
My third job was at a Volkswagen shop. I was 14. They had bought a train car load of Continental tires that fit everything from an Austin-Healey to a VW. Didn't have a Cotes. All I had was an IRON MAN. At 70 pounds soaking wet I learned the definitions of lubrication and leverage. I also learned about anchoring because one day I had to re-anchor it or not work. Not the perfect place to work but I learned bunches.

Not only did I put safety goggles on, I put on a hockey mask because last time you put one in my cheek. But I'm glad you finally broke down and bought a new wire wheel.
That valve clamp would have come in handy a few videos ago. Nice find on both counts!

I just got one from Rural King and paid $69.99. 5/5/2020. This is the same one you have there from Ironton. I did not use the wheels and mounted mine to an outside wall. Saved the 4 wheels, axles, and handle. My instructions where in the trash, I did not use them, they are useless instructions. So far I'm very happy, went together easy and I saved Money and it is cheaper that the ones they sell that mount on the wall. The one you have is much heaver than the one I brought. The older ones are made better.

I gave up on vinyl hoses years ago. They always failed within 2 years. I only use Craftsman Rubber hoses: good in any temperature, crushproof, and can withstand the sun. Twice the price but worth it for the longevity. Good fix!

looks good, you may want to weight it down with some concrete blocks to hold it stable while wrapping up the hose or pulling the hose off the reel. just a thought.
I'm getting to think like my son. while you were wrapping that hose on the reel I was thinking of powering that with one of your antique engines.
anyways, thanks for the videos. I am hooked. I can't do much of that anymore. bad wrist, bad back. bad eyes. I had to have my son do the plasti-gauge read on on my truck engine a few years back. couldn't see it well enough even with a magnifying glass. now I just armchair it while you do the wrenching, or sit on the hose reeel to keep it from tipping over while you bent the handle back into shape. but I'm afraid my excess weight kind of did a number to it. I won't say anything if you don't notice.

This is indicative of our throw away society. Throw away instead of fixing. Just as a suggestion, the best lubricant for o-rings is Arturo-glide. It was developed by NASA for the space shuttle. When I worked at a cotton mill I kept some in my tool box just for that. Took a lot of crap about it till they found out it how it worked. Then the mill ordered for all departments!

Silicone grease is a plus!! should also be under the rings in the gland, not just the OD swivel part. Is high pressure and low pressure SCUBA systems, we use either silicone ( dielectric ) grease on buna-n rings, or for high oxygen lines, Viton rings with Cristolube 111.
