dBPony's voice sounds like its was recorded in his bedroom. It sounds like it could use some EQ work. Also, he seams to be trying way to hard to make his voice do things that it wasn't designed to do. Part of great musicianship is knowing what your good at and what your not so good at. Keeping one's voice under control is very important to a song after all. Furthermore, the recording was very tight, adding a few milliseconds of delay between left and right can help make the sound fill a room more and will still be indistinguishable to the human ear. WoodenToaster seams to be good at this (Fruits of Her Labor). Everything els in the song is great: dBPony's softer parts, Mic's singing, dat guitar solo, and the keyboard too. I hope I didn't offend anyone. I just thought I would give feedback so that these great artist can become even better.
I think this is a good critique, but would like to add that music is also about experimenting, that could also include using your voice to do things it was not designed to do and, come on, i'm sure that has been done thousands of times before.

I think this could have bean a very good song if dBPony sang a bit softer and more clearly. Everything was going fine (except room reverb) until 0:45.
Henry tippens-richan Hey there, mix engineer here! I actually wanted to ask you to expend on your comments, because I don't quite what you mean. The 'bedroom reverb' effect you're hearing is actually intentional doubling of the vocal (Similar to the Eventide stereo split-harmonizer, to be specific.) Where would you think further EQ work was needed? The vocal overall is pretty dry, the only reverb added to it was in post to give the vocal depth, so that might just be down to taste. There was a fair amount of correction done in post, so dB was possibly stretching his voice beyond his range, but that's the only way you get better and develop. Thanks for the comments, and I look forward to a follow up!
LavenderHMusic Wow, I love youtube. Only in this age of information technologies can the casual listener talk with musicians and sounds engineers about the songs they create. Anyway, back on track (that's a horrible pun and I do apologize). A good example of the "bedroom reverb" that I hear sometimes in the song with Mr. Pantano's voice can first be found at 0:14 and ends (for that section) at 0:20. After that he sings softly for a time well within his range and it sounds pretty good. At 0:45 he starts reaching for notes, increasing the volume of his voice to obtain them. The split-harmonizing comes in shortly after ( 0:52 ) and the room reverb seams to be covered up quite nicely. The seconds in between, when he is singing without the split-harmonizer, are the ones where room reverb is most noticeable. Again this was only one example of this happening. Maybe I'm just being picky, I don't know. I really like this song over all, a good Trixie vs. Twilight song was needed in the fandom.

About 5 years later and I still think this song slaps. It does suck knowing mic doesn't make any music anymore. I know he is a pretty popular twitch gamer now. I think this is a good critique, but would like to add that music is also about experimenting, that could also include using your voice to do things it was not designed to do and, come on, i'm sure that has been done thousands of times before.

I think this could have bean a very good song if dBPony sang a bit softer and more clearly. Everything was going fine (except room reverb) until 0:45.
Henry tippens-richan Hey there, mix engineer here! I actually wanted to ask you to expend on your comments, because I don't quite what you mean. The 'bedroom reverb' effect you're hearing is actually intentional doubling of the vocal (Similar to the Eventide stereo split-harmonizer, to be specific.) Where would you think further EQ work was needed? The vocal overall is pretty dry, the only reverb added to it was in post to give the vocal depth, so that might just be down to taste. There was a fair amount of correction done in post, so dB was possibly stretching his voice beyond his range, but that's the only way you get better and develop. Thanks for the comments, and I look forward to a follow up!

Anyway, back on track (that's a horrible pun and I do apologize). A good example of the "bedroom reverb" that I hear sometimes in the song with Mr. Pantano's voice can first be found at 0:14 and ends (for that section) at 0:20. After that he sings softly for a time well within his range and it sounds pretty good. At 0:45 he starts reaching for notes, increasing the volume of his voice to obtain them. The split-harmonizing comes in shortly after ( 0:52 ) and the room reverb seams to be covered up quite nicely. The seconds in between, when he is singing without the split-harmonizer, are the ones where room reverb is most noticeable. Again this was only one example of this happening.
Maybe I'm just being picky, I don't know. I really like this song over all, a good Trixie vs. Twilight song was needed in the fandom.
