This kind of video format doesn’t exist in Germany, so if he doesn’t watch Korean UA-cam or TV shows in his free time, he will not know 🤷🏻‍♀️ But maybe he is just not a very expressive person, maybe he is on the calmer side hahaha To me he seems like a very typical German tbh 🤣

I can only make an assumption but there is a chance that he probably found her words a little hard to understand or was not sure about the meaning of her words
As someone who learned german and is in Germany, I can sympathize with it because although I understand most of what the others are saying, I am still often not sure what sort of topics they are talking about which makes me kind of hesitant to make a comment or get into the conversation
Listening to someone speaking in everyday's life is totally different from listening tests. The words are far too often not clear

I think it's an English Lang thing. I don't know about German, but often, not all, in South East Asian Langs 'I love you' has a more romantic connotation which would be weird to say to your parents and friends whilst in English 'love' can be directed at anything and anyone without being too weird.
I once made the mistake of saying 'I love you' in cantonese to my mum one time and, honestly, I don't think either of us have ever felt that uncomfortable around each other.

@@_Lokuz_ In Italian for instance we have two ways of saying "I love you"...
Ti amo = is a very strong and passionate sentence that you usually say to somebody you are in a relationship with (like couples) but sometimes in special occasions you can use it even with your family (parents-children)
Ti voglio bene = a more general way of showing affection, usually used among family members
So we tend to say "Ti voglio bene" pretty often to our parents (I think I do it at least twice a day...I guess) but I think I can literally count the number of times I said "Ti amo" to them

@Wake No. From my perspective I would say you are not entirely correct. I've seen many successful people clearly hating this side of technology- they are afraid of chemical aspects of brain how it's effecting mental health, depression etc- they prefer reading books something that helps creativity- u may think what I'm saying but I just want to clearify there will be people who would mostly boycott such entertainment aspects.
Matter of fact some are already recommending that a person mustn't waste time watching any random videos, watch videos only to improve your skills, nothing else cuz Time is limited.
And about the every person having a entertainment related career- in order to have a good video you need to develop skills, for that you need both time and money ( there will be competition ofc) if you hire someone, again more money- many can't have the time- many won't have the time ( after a day work your family deserves moments)
I'm not saying you're wrong I'm saying to think entertainment will be majority just doesn't sound right as myself prefers the book over the Netflix adaptation

If you look at Married with Children, Full House, Friends, Two and Half Men, The Big Bang Theory, Modern Familly. ect, I don't remember in those shows the characters ever taking their shoes off at the door. Ok, honestly it's boring to show it on tv, but for exaple wikipedia too gives this: "United States
      - Taking shoes off indoors is not a tradition within the Continental United States[citation needed], but is considered expected in Hawaii, Alaska, Guam, and the Northern Mariana Islands. It is also prevalent in the Northeast due to poor weather in the winter, as well as in the Pacific Northwest, with standards differing from household to household. In New England, many elementary schools require students to bring an indoor pair of shoes as well as winter boots. This is especially the case during rainy weather, when one's shoes could easily get very muddy, wet, or dirty. However, removing of shoes is common among certain immigrant communities."

Korea has always sort of had this understanding about no footwear indoors, in some public spaces too, throughout history. And Korea has milder weather when compared to Europe and many ares in the US and Canada as well.

@@FeatheredWingz Yes, this thing dates further back than tv probably. For example in southern states where they are wearing leather cowboy boots, I always thought they probably give protection against venomous snakes to some degree. But at the same time it must be a hassle to put them on and off through the day. In my country in Eastern Europe, the tradition is to take shoes off in the vestibule ( the space after the front door of the house), but because the winter is severe here, before slippers, older generations were sewing thick wool socks from sheep wool and because I do own some in my country house, made from my grandmother, they are very warm. Even if the temperature inside the house is lower early morning in the winter when the fireplace or the wood stove are off, those socks keeps you warm.

@Radvidia I guess the thing is that we learn this kind of English in school. Most English teachers aren't native speakers so they have the typical German accent. So of course students learn it that way. Only when you constantly speak English and at best with native speakers will you eventually improve and get rid of the strong accent. And to be honest we don't need much English in our German lives, we don't have many things where we only have an English name for etc.
And for answering robotic it's the same. He doesn't seem to fluent and he thinks a lot before speaking (probably worried to say something that's deemed an improper or doesn't know the words immediately, who knows?) but i think it's okay. You can understand him and get what he wants to say so it's okay

Keeping shoes on or removing them were both common where I was raised. I think it also depends on weather, number of children, number of pets, how smelly your feet are, and how often you go out and into the house. I find myself getting asked to keep my shoes on quite often if children or pets have recently come in from outside or if I’ve been doing manual labor in the sun (protecting my socks or protecting others from my socks). Just follow what the homeowner does or ask at the door.

I'm from Finland and I can relate to the expectations of being successful. Only the difference is that you have to be successful in the field of your desires or interests and not what anybody else expects from you.

Hendrik is a typical German man. When you do the same with a german woman you would get a hole new video. One sentence is enough and so. Even though his eyes told a different story. 🤣
It was really funny watching this being from Germany
Aber danke für ein paar Klarstellungen Hendrik. Manchmal sagt der Blick ja mehr als tausend Worte 😆

As I German I find it hilarious that Hendrik represents the stereotype of the "humourless" German. I got most of the memes and laughed :D

In France too we take off our shoes at home. It’s really 미국 스타일 to keep them at home. Also we read a lot on the subway lol we read books, or we be chatting loudly between friends 🤣 there’s also a high chance to see musicians singing or playing an instrument haha

That heaven/hell one got me, though admittedly I didn't get the lovers/swiss part... but other than that I pictured everything and couldn't contain myself.

As an Indian, I relate to almost all of these at a spiritual level lol
