His wonderful personality shines through everything he plays. Here is a genuine artist, who combines obvious personality humility with profound passion for his art. A gem on youtube!
I have been looking for this piece for around 20 years ever since I first heard it all that time ago. I never knew the name of it back then, but I never gave up looking for it. Thank you so much for sharing this with me today. It has been wonderful.
Our show is called Vrije Geluiden, which means 'Free sounds'. We are a public broadcasting service from the Netherlands. Every sundaymoring 10.30 AM you can watch us on Ned 1, in the Netherlands. The week after the broadcast, we upload the music clips on UA-cam.
i had a teacher (who was a bach scholar) tell me, "i dont care if you play with your ear lobes as long as it sounds correct." the music itself is the goal, not the performance visual.
First heard Ton Koopman's recordings (of the great Bach organ Toccatas, Fugues, etc) when in short trousers. Can only admire his 'authentic approach'. A true inspiration; some think a maverick but also loyal traditionalist in music, whose expertise stands beyond criticism - you only have to listen.
When I hear him playing, I have often the feeling, that he is in haste, even some passages are confused, like in this recording. Talent can not be bought like antique books. Anyway, I am grateful to him for rediscovering Buxtehude.
This is a real virtuoso, not Koopman. Mr Castagnet plays one of the most difficult works of Marcel Dupré from memory !! ua-cam.com/video/V5aUwSxRuD4/v-deo.html
ese organito es extremadamente pedorro y anacrónico. ingreso a este video muy de vez en cuando solo para divertirme de lo malo que es... y eso que tengo un muy buen concepto de koopman como intérprete.
@Malloyism Stupid comment. It is not a historic instrument in the first place. Further I have heard this organ in performances of the Amsterdam Baroque Orchestra and its sound very robust indeed. I wonder why you state that 'better and more robust sound is required for orchestral positives these days'. Do you mean to disqualify the positive organs of Bach's age by that? That would be even more rediculous.
@@Ekvitarius Koopman hits too hard the keyboard, i know that from someone that has meet him in person and watch him playing. Anyway, anybody can hear that lol.
really orrible...!!! bad noises caused by his rude articoulation. instable rythm too. this organ is very bad in the low notes! listen at 2.06...! this is only a noise, not a sound!!! in all the final part this bad tuned 4' is so ugly again about lower notes... terrible, but Klop is his sponsor...

Dat weet ik ook wel!
One of the real masters of our age of this music.
I like listening to him speak Dutch.
He is a wonderful player. I am glad he is going to be broadcasting regularly.
Also, that is a ridiculous awesome study he's got there.
Ton koopman you are a brilliant artist
Stupenda e raffinatissima esecuzione !!!! Davvero insuperabile!!!
Perché non suona i lavori molto più complessi per organo di Nepomuk-David o di Max Reger, visto che è così bravo ??
Oh man, you live in paradise.
Ton is amazing!
Exceptional character, I have to meet him one day.
From 0:25 to 0:27: that's the classic way to head bang !.

Very much so. And the original is the better one :-)
Yes - you can play the themes of the two pieces together
Wonderful playing from Ton, as always! What is that instrument called?

Jajajaja pedorro? Nunca había escuchado esa palabra para dirigirse a un organo.
Que sería menos anacrónico? Un clavicordio?
