HELLO EVERYONE! Slight correction: its been confirmed that the Chris Barnes Facebook account does not actually belong to him, and thus Barnes himself did not say "every death metal singer sucks except for me".
...HOWEVER, Barnes at the very least does not entirely disapprove of the statement, as he has yet to truly comment on the matter. It's fair to assume he has no real issue with the statement itself, especially when considering the rest of the information surrounding this controversy. Therefore I still stand behind everything I said in this video. Cheers.
The fact people believed it was him showes how bad his other takes are
Chris Barnes EEEEE compilation
ua-cam.com/video/wlw77SEQX58/v-deo.html
He doesn't have to comment on it. Maybe he doesn't give a shit. It's not fair to assume jack shit. That's the reason the whole thing got out of control, because people assumed.
@@visceralincision210 He gains nothing from not responding and loses nothing if he simply corrects the statement. The solution to all of this for Barnes is very simple: swallow some pride, correct the statement, and address the shitstorm HE created. Continuing to hide away and ban people left and right on Twitter only proves my points.
@@themetalmeltdownofficial He did clarify that he wasn't the one who posted the comment. He was misquoted, he didn't create any of this drama. People just overreacted. He's been banning a bunch of retards only going over to his twitter to call him a piece of crap and making fun of him.
Imagine if Chris Barnes was still in Cannibal Corpse and we'd never been blessed with Corpsegrinder, that would be such a dark timeline
That's some Multiverse Of Madness shit right there man
Personally I think Corpsegrinder is a better vocalist and frontman but Barnes era Cannibal Corpse had better songs.

Pretty sad to see him fall so hard. Tomb of the Mutilated is definitely one of my favorite albums of all time. He was an absolute monster. Clearly his ego is still living in the past.
I only listened to a few moments on the last Six Ft Under album, but Barnes' vocal performance was bordering on parody, and instantly made every major DM vocalist better.
Horrid vocals, but some of the guitar riffs are fucking hilarious too. I have no clue why Slagel released that piece of shit.

I really respect your closing statements about the matter. Sure it's genuinely annoying that Barnes is such a tool that he can't look at himself in the mirror and swallow his pride and admit that he's wrong, but it's best to just move on and let him do his thing. Plenty of great death metal out there, including bands performing the old-school style that he's hung up on. Fetid, Cerebral Rot, Witch Vomit, 200 Stab Wounds, Frozen Soul, Worm, just to name a handful of bands.
Yeeeup. No point in trying to argue with a heap of dirty laundry in human form. Just go listen to rad tunes.
If he's expressing his own, subjective, personal opinions, especially about something as inconsequential as music, then why should he have to look at himself in a mirror or swallow anything and say that he's wrong?
The same douchebags that are looking for that warm, fuzzy, feeling of male-bonding with each other, by piling on him for this, would probably just pile disdain on him, if he did that, as well.
I say more power to him for sticking to his guns and telling it like he sees it and not bending for all of these dicks (like the one in the kitchen with the bandana on, above).
I mean, think what you're doing. You're all saying 'You don't like all the singers I like so you are a fucking asshole. Isn't he Kevin, Richard, Corey and George'?!
Keep doing that over enough trivial issues like this and you'll have successfully divided the whole world into 14 billion different, isolated, individual, groups of just 1.
dude i saw fetid and cerebral rot live in milwaukee and it was fuckin SIIIICCKKKKKK
If you don't have anything nice to say don't say it at all or prepare to get skewered in places you didn't know you had. You can't challenge an entire community that lives and dies with passion and committment to music.
"If you don't have anything nice to say don't say it at all"
you do realize we are talking about DEATH METAL here right?
I’ll say this Chris deserves the love and respect for his influence on those 1st 4 CC albums especially with the bleeding. Many bands got introduced to death metal with Hammer Smashed Face or maybe their appearance on Ace Ventura or the controversy But Barnes with those comments really has become Death metal’s Gene Simmons. He is an absolute joke now. It’s best to leave Barnes and SFU behind. Modern Death Metal is killing it imo especially with bands like Hooded Menace, Venom Prison, Creeping Death, Beyond Creation, Cadaveric Incubator, Triumvir Foul, Temple of Void, Archspire, Dungeon Serpent, Worm, Fulci, Horrendous etc…..
Barnes had nothing to do with what made Cannibal Corpse great. Death metal singers in general have very little to do with how good a band is. You could put Tomas Lindberg in early Cannibal and it would probably be better. Barnes has never been talented EVER. Every single singer he talked shit about is far more talented than he.
@@ryanexsus Barnes is the best death metal singer of all time..
@@bloodyproduce Only if you have extremely poor taste. All four of the singers he talked shit about are better. Trevor Strnad is much better than Barnes.

Voivod is sick bro. Also I lived in Tampa for about eight years and was a part of it's underground scene in the mid 2000s. A lot of the local death metal legends hung out at the same places I did. Regularly saw all the guys from Corpse, Steve Asheim from Deicide, all the guys from Obituary and Malevolent Creation etc. It came to a point where I took more note of who I didn't see but knew lived nearby and Chris was one of them. He had a reputation for being a complete douchebag and wholly uninterested in metal in general at least locally. For the most part it was kind of a dream come true to see so many guys I looked up to for so many years just hanging out shooting the shit with guys but Chris definitely wasn't one of them and the word was I was better off for it.
Most relatable intro ever. In fact I’ll grab my beer right now
It started like an episode of Intervention
It's almost like Barnes is just trolling us.
I always thought Barnes was way too stoned to get angry at all. Now look at this!
I got the block hammer. Although it was warranted and I was happy to have it happen. I basically told him said vocalists on that podcast outshines him and buries him. Never have I ever seen a man who is the EPITOME OF A SNOWFLAKE!
Great video buddy! Well done!
I find him to be quite hilarious and had wondered if that was what he was trying to do... provide comedy to the genre. So I asked him to be on my channel for comedy hour and he blocked me. So confirmed: he is not trying to be a comedian.
I like to imagine that he IS a comedian, just a really bad one. Like, we're currently in the midst of a really bad SNL skit or improv performance.
The truth of the Matter is while I prefer the older styling of death metal, death metal and deathcore vocalists in particular are objectively better nowadays. The old style of vocalists had that stereotypical cookie monster style now they have much stronger and more controlled guttural approaches and stronger in just about every style of death metal vocals due in a big way to a far more trained approach, maybe with the exception being John Tardy and Chuck Schuldiner who very much had there own style and strong vocals anyway back when death metal was in its infancy anyway. And for Chris Barnes of all people to come out with this is insane, has he not listened to himself over the past few six feet under albums, he's not only the worst vocalist in death metal but probably any other genre of music period. I meen this is just an opinion so it's completely subjective some of my thoughts, but what isn't subjective is that his vocals are done
Everythinv you said is fact
While I prefer the more modern experimental death metal both rock and vocals are better than ever
I do prefer the older swedish death metal vocals. Like early hypocrisy. American death metal had a Similar style vocals. Foreign bands I dunno what it was. If it was the dialect or whatever. They had a serious deep vocal range.
@@polloloco2307 Yeah to be fair my comment was more based on the American and more classic style of Death metal. I wasn't really talking about Melo death, some absolutely amazing bands have came out of Sweden

You had me subbed at "irregardless." Great fucking content.
I agree with you about it being everywhere. I was in Walmart at the checkout when a 70 year old couple held up the line talking to the cashier about Chris Barnes.
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
In the past year there are 2 bands that have really stood out to me vocally. Slaughter to prevail and Brand of sacrifice. Both great vocalists
Also been impressed with Reily from Allegaeon expanding his vocals and doing more clean singing. There was 1 song on the last album "Demons of the intricate design" I think the song is called and there was one part where he sounded like Nergal from Behemoth.
Both solid bands. Wasn't toooo big on the Slaughter To Prevail album from last year mind you, but Brand Of Sacrifice have been on a ROLL lately.
@@themetalmeltdownofficial Yea, I can see your point in the STP album tbh. Some songs are just there as filler and didn't offer me much..... Alex Terrible's vocals are on a different level now though.
Those bands are actually deathcore, not death metal.
@@asmodai2025 I don't care what sub genre they are. It's still metal and they are still great vocalists doing new and innovative ideas rather than being stuck in the 90's like Chris Barnes is 😂...... Good bands are out there if you look around a bit.

"Irregardless" of him becoming the guy whose yard you didn't want your ball to go into in your neighborhood, let me "once again reiterate" Barnes did it better than anyone for a long time. Don't let Chris hear this, he might sick his roadies on you while he hides on his tour bus
I listened to two songs on Nightmares of the decomposed, Amputator and The Rotting. And let me tell you it made me so sad to hear how deteriorated his vocals were, because he's one of my death metal inspirations. I think the best performance he did in his Six feet under career was on either True carnage or Commandment those low growls sounded good imo. But it's such a shame to know how badly damage he's voice is now, and what he did to other people online. I do not hate Chris Barnes, I just don't understand why he'd block people when they did literally nothing to offend him.
Anyway's. I agree with the points you make in this video. Good job!
I toured with 6FU back in 2005 through Europe as a support band. it was with 6FU, born from pain, debauchery and Kat. It was on the height of their success. I was just 18 and a huge Barnes fan. But what I saw was so obnoxious. This guy would constantly flip the bird to the other bands watching 6FU from the side of the stage. I saw him kicking guys jumping on stage in the knee. He sucker punched a guy in Austria (Dornbirn) for asking him to sign a CD, knocked him out cold and would always send his bodyguard to keep people away from him. A total scumbag. But the rest of the band was very nice! Greg, Steve and terry were the coolest guys despite me fanboying through the tour. That being said… I still have mad respect for what he has done until 2004… but I think his brain just started to suffer from all the marijuana ever since.
Wow, thats a hell of a story. What band were you a part of?
@@themetalmeltdownofficial i was helping out debauchery from Germany.
I love 90s and early 2000s Barnes. Dude was a beast. That last SFU album I liked the instrumental work but yeah the vocals were not for me.
As a harsh vocalist for the past 14 years and a fan of early Cannibal Corpse, this guy is just a laughing stock now. I listen to Six Feet Under when I want to have a laugh!
Haunted is really the only SFU album that was good, IMO.🤘🍻👍 Stay Metal my Friend.
@Keith Wilson I agree with you, but I also agree with the other dude that it's hard to listen to the last few SFU albums without giggling.. Doesn't mean I don't enjoy it, but it is funny.
@Keith Wilson you can enjoy whatever you like my friend but Six Feet Under just sounds awful in every way imaginable imo
1. The vocals are not only a parody of what non metalheads think death metal vocals are, they're also just very gross sounding and not in the good way
2. The mixing is utter trash on the majority of their albums
3. The guitar tones are washed out and hollow
@@xpropriation8505 The vocals on their earlier albums aren't as bad. And I enjoy all their albums to a degree, but I can't say you're wrong.
Crypt of the Devil was a great record…
On a sidenote love the Voivod t-shirt, man.
A very adult way of handling his child-like immaturity. Good on you bro!

I was a kid back when Death Metal was a thing in the early 90's it was over before the end of the century a lot of the bands broke up but they eventually got back together you don't understand I understand what he's saying because it is true what Barnes feels there's a bunch of bands that sound like old band nowadays literally and people think it's cool no it's not it's trash like what's that one band I don't even I heard him like oh this is baby bolt thrower Frozen something I forget I don't even care it's over the only ones that deserve respect to the ones from back in the day that started it out that did it that made it a thing it's just watered down and it's beyond generic nowadays way past running its course it's garbage it ain't like back in the day but that's the way it goes.
I was all about death metal when it was a thing back in the early 90s it was new it was exciting it was fresh it was pushed to the limit they pushed the envelope to the limit to the extreme I was all about it I was a '90s death metal kid I still am I only like the old dudes that's it nobody else. Why? Because that's just the way the wind blows that's the way it is. I still listen to butchered at birth here and there I still listen to the old records in my car right now in the CD player I got false by Gorefest! I don't give a fuck about anything else , but the bands that I grew up with now I love all forms of metal well not every form but all the old school stuff like that the stuff I was raised on cuz of my dad he's an old metal head from the seventies early eighties and I latched on to my era of metal which was death metal when I was a kid. I don't like anything else I don't like the new bands I don't like anything about them I think they're tacky and tasteless generic and that's my honest opinion
ok boomer
Question. Not completely related to to video but is any of Six Feet Under's early work any good. Or is any of their work good? Just asking because I haven't gone too deep in that part of metal yet mainly being an casual listener of either underground Grunge or alternative rock like Nirvana, Slint, American Football, and Foo Fighters or Very heavy metal bands like Slipknot and Lamb of God. And Black metal bands like Burzum, Mayhem, Emperor, and Bathory.
yea man, he is always been a really insanely good vocalist up until recently even on six feet under. now, the recent stuff is bad, like very very bad and you'll know right away when you are listening to it. listen to the haunted album, or any from around that time period. if you can deal with burzums microwaved ass sound you probably will be fine. (no hate to that either i enjoy everything)
Their debut Haunted is a pretty acceptable piece of 90's death metal, and some stuff like Undead and Unborn and Crypt Of The Devil are good. But most of their discography is either mediocre or downright painful.

To be fair to Chris he doesn’t pretend to actually write the music, he writes lyrics.
It worked out for the best. The odd time signatures of the Fisher era would not have existed, as Barnes either can't or won't do odd rhythms. Nearly every Fisher era song has odd time signatures and the few that don't have sophisticated and precise syncopations.

Fun Fact: there is a Japanese Game Director called Hideki Kamiya who blocks everyone on Twitter and in a 2019 video posted by Nick Robinson he showed that he blocked nearly 20.000 peoples.
I don't know why i said this but...that's what Chris Barnes Actions reminds me of. But the difference here is, Hideki Kamiya does this because he hates the internet, Chris Barnes does this because he's a Brat who can't accept any form of criticism, and the fact that he said he's the best death metal singer and everyone else sucks (which side note: By that logic George Fisher also sucks, yet he's been with Cannibal Corpse for almost 25 years and everyone, including peoples who don't like Death Metal, likes George Fisher) really is just The Pot calling the Kettle Black, hell at this point, the guy who voices the Cookie Monster from Sesame Streets unironically would make a better Death Metal singer than Chris Barnes is. Im honest to God Surprised nobody has kicked him out of Six Feet Under yet, and im honestly surprised none of the band members spoke out, even in defence for him.
Chris Barnes aside, what doesn't change stagnates, and whether or not any of us like the direction it takes it will change anyway. That's why past music is called "old school". Once, old school was the new school and everyone was up in arms about the direction it was headed, and we were the young ones saying "If it's too loud you're too old". Are we really going to emulate our parents now? "Grumble, grumble, kids these days..."
No amount of fighting against change is gonna stop it so why not just listen to what you like and leave them the fuck alone to like what they like?

I'd love to see a reality TV show, starring Chris Barnes and Kam Lee; they'd drive each other up the wall. 😂
The comment by Chris Barnes "every death metal vocalist ducks except for me" was from a fake chest Barnes FB account. He never said that. But I agree with everything else you said.
