- Route Learning Video covering the Thameslink service from Brighton to Blackfriars. I've re Uploaded this as the previous 720p version didn't upload right so this is SD but the quality is fine.
6:05 awesome tunnel experience
Video, enjoyed the trip going to Brighton as well as the return trip. Was the Driver and Conductor, the same people as in the first trip? Thank you for information as I enjoy Railing around England.
I've ridden on this route to victoria with microsoft train sim 2013 and it looks very similar. It's not easy operating a train with all the speed limits and signal warnings while trying to keep on time.
TS2013 is not microsoft.
***** It's not MSTS, but RailWorks. Yes, I have driven it and I must say it has its similarities and differences, so it's purely a matter of personal opinion.
pity the UK's broke, they have ever easily been the first to have HSR. the country has very long straight stretch of track, it'll be very easy to turn to HSR, only if they had the money.
HD would have had look way better
A001002 Blackfriars to Brighton seems to be OK. I'll wait a bit as YT maybe processing it still. I'll chop into to two halves and re-up it tonight if I get a chance...
Nice video mate. I love the atmosphere of British Railways!
Gorgeous video mate. Thank you.
Nice video, Darren, I suscribed, so I hope to view the rest of your videos.

Good work, greetings from Spain
"He's obviously having a conversation with himself"
"Nah, he's got one of the hands free things"
Classic!
A train can draw as much as 15Mw when pulling away from stationary. Eurostar draws 12 for example. Because third rail runs at 750v DC in most of the UK where it is installed, you need big pick up shoes to draw that amount of power. So if you boxed it in, you'd need a big opening, so why bother going to the trouble of boxing it in when you ned to leave so much uncovered? The Docklands Light Rail has a covered third rail system, but the trains are smaller and draw much less power.
Brilliant
You should add a piece showing the completed shard
The original file is ok it must YT as I had this problem with the original 720p upload!!!
Wow. Gotta love this. Who watches the whole thing? I'm curious.
Very clear quality. Thanks
strange how the information board display flashes like its on fast forward when filmed with a digital video camera
Great vid. I have done this journey many times from St Albans. Pity you can't do the whole journey through to Bedford.
Have a look at the track layout outside Waterloo,Cannon Street or even around Clapham Junction - the complexity of running a catenary system makes it almost impossible to do, so third rail is how it has to be.
So instead of having the power cables on poles you have it down on the ground like for a subway? That's crazy.
Cool, this is Railworks. I was playing on this route too earlier...
"That is one big fuck off building aint it" Haha!
Darren Cafferty, question. As I have never been to your lovely country, when the train was just about to enter the station, off on the right, is this St. Paul's Cathedral? Of all the photographs I've seen of England, that one view stands out the most. I am assuming that Blackfriars is a district in London? As mention by Hasan Mulla, the screen went partially gray, so I took my curser, and jumped a little ahead, but the sound was gone. I know YT has had a bug issue this past few days. Great >>
You mean at the very end of the video? Yes, it’s St Paul’s, it’s around a 3/4 mile walk from Blackfriars, which is a district of London (we’d just term it as a part of Central London).
Hi, do you have Bedford to black friars half and back, because I am making the route for a train sim, and would like the complete route to get it as accurate as possible, so if you do could you please upload it, thanks
no audio after the grey thingy? around the 0:39 mark?
excellent video
It's only uploaded at 380p.
Darren, At about 39:24 this vid is corrupted and the sound drops out. Can you repost it please?
Unfortunately Yes...Up to 60 people a year in the past, either by accident or tresspass. It's not just the Voltage that kills, the enormous Ampage that's the killer. If you do survive the burns are horrific, I saw a 16 year girl who lost most of the soft tissue, Muscle &c, from her lower back and right leg which vapourised. She survived but the Pain must of been horrific. Just don't go on the Tracks, juiced up or not...
Great Video
the vid was fine until 39m 35 then it went as if the pic broke up then resumed at 39m 50 but no audio after that
When the train is at east croydon , the video goes grey
Great video
I like the debate that having an open, live third rail is unsafe.
People shouldn't be trespassing on the railway in the first place!
Brighton to Bedford,
Via Haywards Heath.

Class 319 - en.wikipedia.org/wiki/British_Rail_Class_319
Does anybody ever get electrocuted touching the live rail?
peep the black guy at 12:42 with th Yankee hat.. :D
это поезд или метро?не понятно есть.
Это пригородный поезд из Брайтона в Лондон, судя по всему полу-экспресс
понятно.интересно что электрический внизу.Похоже как метро!
Crazy as in "very unsafe" and "there are better (safer) ways to do the same thing"
So what. Make it up in your head or something.
Spoiled by profanity.
2011
It's a profane route anyway
