howzitboy hikes: Chinaman's hat (Mokoli'i )

Today we did a short fun one swimming out to Chinaman's hat (I used boogie board!) and climbing up to the top.. I forgot my batteries for my gopro so not much video footage!! hope you enjoy it!

good memory! yeah ive done this one hmm 2 times before? always fun one since the views are so awesome and its not that hard (as long as you have a boogie board!)

How deep is it between the beach and the island?

During low tide I see people walk across. But its mostly about chest deep , few spots deeper and lots lower. I'd still bring flotation device because high tide there is a strong current and people have drowned trying to get back.

I climbed to the summit of Mokoli'i 40+ years ago and carved my initials into the rock. I wonder if it's still up there.

I've gotten careful about currents. Tried flat island in Kailua one night. No current but still, very exciting.
