I still can´t believe how World Trigger doesn´t get the credit it deserves. I have no words for what happened in the last season finale. Peak shonen fighting system
@@toastoftardinessExactly! the build up! I couldn't believe at the time that everything I watched up to that moment sumed up to that and that very few people got to see it. How come this anime isn´t more popular is beyond my understanding
Without delving into spoilers, one of my favorite elements about WT is how it utilizes its, frankly, gigantic cast of characters. It has that Togashi-like element of, "Hey, I remember this guy!" Kinda like in the Dark Tournament arc in YYH, where several of the chiller demons from defeated teams wound up helping out Team Urameshi later on. Like characters in WT will be introduced at and you'll think they're just jobbers, or antagonists of the week. And then they'll show up later and have meaningful, character developing interactions with the protagonists. The characters are all connected through this well established web of relationships, and it just feels like no character is designed to just be a one-off. Frankly, as far as ensemble casts in anime go, WT works really hard to make the most of it. Obviously the combat and story is fantastic as well, but the characters are just so darn likable.
One of thee days this anime will get the respect it deserves, for now we just can keep enjoying this gem we cherish and try to share it with those around us. I respect what you say in critique, i think that world trigger excels internally, but the look and the art style is its weak point. It doesnt share shonen tropes but i think it is something shonen fans will latch onto. Also GODDDDD was that wait for S2 horrible
Been my one of my favorite anime for about 3-4 years now. Love the power system, the cast of characters is amazing, the strategies and fights are awesome. Season 1 can be a bit slow at points, but I love it all. Such a great show.
I LOVE World Trigger so much!!! I love to see more people talking about World Trigger! This series is so underrated and should get so much more attention. World Trigger is one of my all time favorite anime/manga! In my personal opinion this series is a million times better than most of those other shonens could ever have time to be! I love the plot, the technology, and the characters! YUMA KUGA is my all time favorite character in World Trigger!!! I also like Osamu a lot too, Kazuma, Kohei Izumi, Ema, and Inukai. Keep spreading the word about how wonderful and awesome World Trigger is!!!
YES oh I’ve been in this fandom for so long I’m so glad people are picking it up now 😭 For 1:24, I have been here for a while and I think can answer this. The common reason is because the artstyle isn’t eye-catching enough for people to click on it, but once you go over that, it comes down to how likely people would _recommend_ it. Not that likely, as it turns out, and that’s unfortunately because the physically weak protagonist doesn’t get a power up. I’ve literally seen many people at the time say that it sucks and will drop it because the MC is weak compared to his teammates. We’re used to the “OP MC” formula in shonen. So much so that we expect it oftentimes, but this show doesn’t do that. And unfortunately thus ensues what could be called as the “viewer elimination round”; where up to around episode 15 the story very much emphasizes despite how much the MC is being beat up, you cannot and should not expect him to get a random power up. He needs to genuinely work on it. For some that stayed, this is interesting, because now you get to ask 2 questions: 1) what makes him the main character and 2) what is he gonna do to work around his lack of trion because plot armor won’t save him. WT adds one aspect to the MC that no shonen has done before, which is, for my lack of a better term, “trust the process”. And unfortunate as it may be, not a lot of casual viewers will wait for it because, again, we see shonen with OP MCs that gets their power ups within the first 3 episodes (aligning with the ‘3 episode rule’). So a long time wait for him to get better, and not even physically but strategy-wise, probably doesn’t seem worth it because we’re used to rooting for the MC that is sure to win because they’re a DPS instead of here, where his role in the team is support.
Finally, I was a little bored with the trope of MCs getting a power-up from someone strong or even a hidden power in themselves that places them above others. World Trigger is definitely a nice change of pace, I like smart strategies that are cooked-up by every team in the show, not just Osamu's. Also I wish they had a squad battle system in border that isn't the ranked wars, not just 1v1 training simulations. Would be fun seeing teams fighting against each other and combining info to create new tactics at a regular basis since they are all in the same organization.
Literally the only downside of this Anime is the outdated animation. everything is just top tier. please if any of you watch any anime reactors. please recommend this Hidden Gem to them. more people need to see this Anime. specially when Kaiju No 8 Took off, I bet this one could too.
I usually have a distaste for shounen. Constant fights, there's always a new bad, "must... Get.... Stronger...!" But World Trigger is the exception. I can enjoy these fights because it's not just two people throwing rocks at each other and the rocks get bigger and bigger.
Honestly, I need to watch it. I have A LOT of anime I have to watch. Mr.James and I have a bunch of anime we have to catch up on for future videos before we watch anything new.
After watching Frieren, I couldn't help feeling like the magic system reminded me of something. I just realized it reminded me of World Trigger. It's really sad how overlooked it is, it's one of my favorites and I still frequently forget about it due to its long hiatuses. Great video to spread the world without too many spoilers! This show really shows how skill scaling can be way cooler and less gimmicky than power scaling. Also everyone is a glass cannon which makes the fights incredibly hype.
My favorite thing is it never asks for your pity for the most part though there is some tragedy it's not the focus you like the characters for their drive not because your sorry for them
To main factor to recommend this show is to consider OSAMU DOESN'T ACTIVELY GETS WINS UNITL SEASON 2. That's 76 episodes in. Arguably, all season 1 is part of Osamu's trial and error narrative for not only being a leader but a real asset for his team that he can be "proud" about. Portraying him as this 'trap setter' withut mention how many struggle (even when his team wins) he as to pass through will let many audience down when that scenario doesn't happen in the first big arc (invasion) which is where normal (?) shonen made their MC start to shine. Not mentioning that the shows intentionally uses its first arc to introduce some trigger working and a bunch a characters for later on is a HUGE mistake for playing with people expectation. Most people who associate "battle shonen" or "shonen" with "battle fest from ep 2-3 onwards" will obviously lose interest for WT. That's what made it avoid popularity in its first running. You have to "wait" until ep 30 (2nd arc in season 1) to see some "shonen-like battles" (even if they are different enough being 3 vs 1 or 5 vs 1) . And the tournament arc that THIS VIDEO IS PRAISING only happens starts in in 41. Specially the maneuvers stated here belong purely to season 2 because that's where Osamu gets solid foundation for a reliable enough battle style for him. If people were really prone to take a different execution of the "shonen" idea...if they really care about a power system being coherent while simple and elaborated at the same time..there really won't be a necessity of making video like these in all internet. So lest be wary that more popularity means to include "the masses". And that animation is mid-tier for 73 episodes (there are people only giving shows a change from looks or animation quality so expectations need to be guided). ALSO, and this is the main issue I see in 70% of these videos about recommending WT: Osamu doesn't
@@toastoftardiness Yeah, why not. Another topic you could make a video about is the well discussed topic in the fan base that comes from a core misunderstanding of the show: you can't do an online game out of this series's tournament arc.
@@toastoftardiness There was already one game of World Trigger. But not only the movement was rough and was visually lack-luster, but the mechanics were mild generic. Most probably was made by people that didn't understand the show's true strenght when it comes to character department battle-wise. Think about making a fightinh game of One Punch Man: how the hevk could you include Saitama as a playable character without being an insta win and still portraying the anime "coherence" about his power level. It nigh impossible but if there is a way it demands a lot of thinking. A WT game is as intrincated to develop even if their "make or break" factord are different.
I still can´t believe how World Trigger doesn´t get the credit it deserves. I have no words for what happened in the last season finale. Peak shonen fighting system
Don’t even get me started. It was masterfully built up over 3 season. That pay off was so incredibly satisfying man.
