If the cop shot the tires she could still run the officers and anyone around over and kill them as she only cared of herself. The moment she hits 1 person or attempts to this becomes a deadly situation (all over apparently being innocent). There are so many what ifs that could happen by shooting the tires, you need to stop the threat. Don't think you'd be a happy person if the cops shot her tires, she got even more panicked and desperate and plowed over your daughter walking around the corner. Then you'd be saying why didn't the cops shoot her after she hit the 1st person and why would they be stupid to shoot the tires allowing her to cause more harm. It's like shooting murderers in the foot. No. STOP the threat.

Absolutely no respect for authority. If she was innocent, all she had to do was get out of the car and listen. It’s simple. If she was guilty, it speaks even more so to her character. She purposely drove her car forward knowing she would hit the officer, which is intent. Her death ain’t murder, it’s justified. Kids today are nothing but entitled with zero accountability and our society just allows it.

It's not even about respect for "Authority". It's about common sense. I can tell you this much: As a teenager (and maybe very early 20s?) I shoplifted probably $hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of alcohol, steaks (only Fillet Mignon, Porterhouse, T-Bone, etc.), charcoal, 12 and 24 packs/ suitcases of Beer, and many other things. I am not proud of it, and regret it now (and I got arrested at least twice for shoplifting). But...
If I was the person who shoplifted that much alcohol (never did at one time, I'm not as brazen as this nutcase lady), and I left the store, got into my car, and cops came up to my car guns drawn telling me to stop, -I would have complied. Because I'm not stupid and I wouldn't have wanted to die (to risk potentially dying). You would have to be a new kind of stupid/ suicidal to test fate (while pregnant no less), over a few bottles of booze and a misdemeanor shoplifting charge.
She should have stopped, been cited, never gone to jail, and taken the slap on the wrist (probation, community service). She and her Baby would still be alive (and the people who are saying it's 100% the officer's fault, are the problem).

@@sjones1013 - Thanks. I appreciate you for saying that, but Respect for what? The Law? Corporations? Government? Society? I came from a broken dysfunctional family, as an only child with a Schizophrenic mother. She was the salt of the earth (my father as well). I loved her dearly, but she also drove me nuts with her continual paranoid insanity. My Dad made her mental health conditions far worse (not knowing how to deal with it). She was a "Christian Scientist".
I had no money. I had no car. I had no girlfriend. I didn't graduate from High School. I didn't go to the Prom or Homecoming. I became a stoner at about age 14 to escape/ forget my family life/ troubles and became friends with the wrong/ bad influence boys around the corner. I started drinking moderately to heavily at age 15. You also have to understand, back then, there was no cell phones, no internet, no computers, no social media, no technology (I'm probably old enough to be your father).
I had lifelong health problems/ medical conditions, also, even though I was ripped and a world class athlete (IBD or IBS/ Cystic Fibrosis/ COPD or Asthma/ Heart Condition/ Arrythmia). I could never get medical treatment or accurate diagnoses. I fell through the cracks of the worthless and dysfunctional for-profit medical industrial complex. It's worthwhile and semi-functional for many people, but not most people. My partying, made my health conditions worse. But it helped me to forget my family life and not kill my Dad.
When I was young, my Dad took the car keys away from my Mother, and the phone also. She had been in an accident and another close call (almost hitting the girl who lived across the street). He was worried she was going to get us sued and everything he had ever worked for (including the house) taken away. He took the phone away also, -because after he took the car away, she wanted to get a divorce. He of course, didn't want her (to once again), destroy everything he had worked for by dividing us and all the assets/ selling the house, etc. My Dad basically made her a prisoner, in a house and situation she loathed. She fell into a depression (like I have 4 times in the last 5 years).
I wanted to kill my Dad to save my Mom and our Family (at my father's expense). It caused me extreme anguish what he did to her and that I could not save her/ help her. By age 16, I was plotting how to do it, to not get caught. But at the same time, my Dad also was a good man, and I loved him. So I had to leave home at age 16 in order to not kill him and lived with the "bad influence" family around the block.
My point is (and I'm not justifying my shoplifting), people go through problems not of their own volition/ own making. And they try to cope with the physical/ mental or emotional devastation anyway they can. Sometimes those problems (or life destruction) are caused by other people (including family members), sometimes by corporations, sometimes by Governments, etc. (and sometimes by all of the above, either seperately, or in one "Institution"). This was why I drank and stole alcohol and weed. To forget. To try to have a little "fun"/ as a coping mechanism for my own survival. Otherwise I probably would have committed suicide.
My father was just murdered. Now I am the last surviving family member in our entire family lineage. I have no children. I could never maintain a long term relationship. The last 4 of my living family members (My Mother, Father, Aunt, and Grandfather) were murdered. So I realize this is a super long and personal dissertation/ explaination/ rant that you probably regret reading (if you made it this far lol). But I'm trying to give you some small perspective, on why people do what they do. I am not a person who has ever embraced the victimhood mindset. But I must have (apparently) embraced the "entitlement" mindset, or I never would have shoplifted so much. This woman killed in Ohio probably embraced both (or at least the latter).

I believe that is why the officer shot her. HOWEVER, had he chosen to stand to the left of the front bumper, he would have had plenty of time to step away as the car moved forward. In my opinion, he should not have positioned himself in front of a parked vehicle whose engine was running. Doing so put his safety in danger. His service weapon was drawn and there was no indication she was armed. Considering the suspected offense was petty theft and taking everything into consideration, it is my opinion that deadly force was not authorized. The cop placed himself in front of the vehicle. Officers are trained in Contact and Cover - one officer makes contact, the other provides cover and blocks escape routes - exactly what he did and was trained to do.
They had no time to get back to a car and move it in front of hers - this was happening while they were helping another woman get into her locked car, a Kroger employee interrupted and pointed to her and her car and said she stole from the store. with a loaded gun, even for a simple traffic stop. There's a reason this technique is not allowed.
The weird part is they showed the parking lot camera at the beginning (which gives a big picture of the situation) but didn't show the parking lot camera when the shooting took place. The parking lot camera would show she had a clear shot to run the officer over if that was her intent. Her intent was to get away that's why her car went to the right (opposite of the officer) and not straight into the officer. The police camera does not show the big picture but that parking lot camera would show the big picture and it will show this was an overuse of deadly force. That's why the officers don't want their name out because they themselves are not seen as heroes.

She drove there with the licence plates removed from the vehicle and backed up in a handicap spot for a speedy getaway. Multiple other parties also escaped in other vehicles. She just so happened to be parked right next to where the cops were there for the unrelated situation. She knew what she was doing in a smash and grab, took her chances and got caught. And instead of accepting the consequences of getting caught, she tried to run over the officer in an escape attempt and this was the end result. Her own choices led to this. An better and far more important question would be: Why would a pregnant woman put herself and her unborn child in this situation? It makes no sense.

And if you didn’t see the surveillance video, then aren’t you speculating? At least I commented on what was said in this video, and last I checked I am entitled to express my opinion. Then you even go further to support the justification for the cop shooting and killing here and her unborn baby when he could have just jumped out of the way of a crazy woman that wasn’t obeying a lawful order. Black, White, Purple or Green this shooting is fully justifiable. She made the deliberate choice not to comply and if she had nothing to hide she would have been let go. She was combative from the start and then made the conscious decision to put the car into gear and attempt to drive over the officer, lifting him off the ground in the process. This woman made series after series of bad decisions including having kids starting at 15.
These shoplifting rings need to be stopped. The looting mobs were shot on sight and dropped into sewers by the National Guard in the Detroit riots of 1967 and the looting stopped. Crime cannot be allowed to prosper and the police and prosecutors cannot be afraid to do their jobs anymore. If you try to drive over a police officer you get what you have coming. How many generations of this cycle get perpetuated by rewarding crime and procreation of children to suck off the teat of government subsidy? Get real people. All you whiners should let people like this come and live with you for a week and see how that turns out.
