That’s a genius mod! I’ve done that in strats but when I think about it in terms of a 2 pickup guitar, it’s more economical from a playing standpoint to have the blend. Very cool!
Cool story. Very nice guitar, sounds great! I think this blend feature would work very well for me and easier then how I do it now. Off to find a schematic. Thanks! :)
Interesting ideas! I changed mine to a "Sheraton junior" with gibson parts, I'm left handed and I used to turn the knobs down with my arm while playing
Can you explain how a pickup that uses magnets to generate signal from metal strings can pickup the "acoustic" sound of the guitar ? Do you mean by having the pickup set low its picking up less bass/lower mid and there for sounds thin and scooped.
@@BuddaGuedes Hmm I'm not convinced. Have you ever put an SM57 on a solid body electric, or solid centre block electric ( with no amp ) and recorded it? All you hear is the very thin sound of the strings. No way is a slightly microphonic pickup doing even that much. The problem, 99% of guitarists have, is that we are brainwashed from the beginning of our journey with concepts that have been handed down over the years. But all those ideas came from the acoustic guitar world before electric guitars even existed. Most of those ideas are irrelevant to solid body guitars but we blindly recite them without really understanding the physics.
I have the same guitar 1985 Samick factory. I notice you have no pickguard which i think looks better. I still have the pickguard with the big E which i do not care for. Did you remove the guard? Also i have question on the tuners. Based on my research the tuners are Ping even they look like Grovers. I would like to replace with Kluson style but cannot determine if replacement tuners would just drop in. Do you know about this?
I like the sound of your Lindy Fralin pickups. Very nice. Mine is a lefty Sheraton II all stock. I noticed that my bridge pickup tone control does absolutely nothing. Also all the knobs are wired in reverse, that is to mean from looking down they don't turn clockwise to go louder it is counter-clockwise so I know these are wrong. The pickups are stock and okay but would putting in all new pots(correct ones), a new 3 way switch and orange drop caps on the tones that this would be a good solution? Also what kind of room are you in? It looks like a wine cellar or a tunnel with that stone arch behind you : )

Yes you could. But sometimes when you use two volumes you get one pickup auiet and the other on full.
