I have had mine since 1970. It’s a bear to light from just kerosene but once going is quick, hot and economical. I now use light fluid to heat the burner, easy to find and comes in its own squirt can. Took awhile to figure that out MOST- important fuel must be CLEAN. 2x filter it thru a coffee filter, otherwise the orfice gets blocked. The stove should come with a needle like cleaner for the orfice but CLEAN FUEL is the answer!
I still have my Optimus 00 from the 1970s and it still gets occasional use.. It cost £28.00 from Ellis Brigham's shop in Capel Curig, North Wales. There are many collectors who would put it on a shelf and just display it as it had never been fired up, but these stoves were made to be used. Enjoy it.
Lovely. I used to own one but sold it 40 years ago and have just bought a slightly older one in the blue tin. It has Arabic writing on the tank and was quite dirty inside and took a bit of welly to clean but is working just fine now. You can beat the efficiency of the paraffin and if Boeing still use it in the jet engine then that's good enough for me
Very nice video. Thanks for posting it. Two suggestions, if I may? 1- it appears that you filled the 00 up with too much kerosene. I usually fill the tank only 2/3 full, to leave space for the air you're going to pump into the tank when using the stove. 2- The travel cap is supposed to be mounted on the end of the pump rod, which offers a much better purchase when you pump up the tank pressure. Otherwise, a nicely done video. Great stove, too! The Optimus 00 was our first stove of it's kind, though we'd already been gifted a lovely Primus Pocket Outfit 96 from 1920. Two US Marine Brothers decided to give it to me, after I'd bought Coleman Stoves, and a SVEA 123 from them. I took the little 96 home, oiled the pump leather, and primed it, and off it went, like a tiny rocket ship! Take care, and God Bless! Every Good Wish, Doc

Thank you
I need a stove, how can i buy one?
Happy with this video
...а где можно приобрести такой же набор для кемпинга?!!
WOW! What a beautiful stove! If you don't mind I ask, where can I buy one? I live in Japan. Thanks
Thank you! I was given the stove by my uncle who bought it over 30yrs ago in London. You could not buy one new, although similar are on eBay.
I could let you have mine if you visit Hereford. My son is not interested and I'd like to give it to someone who will appreciated it
@@philneal3725- I hope you still enjoying using the beautiful stove. Cheers!
