  • This is a video showing how we repair the front screen on a Galaxy S7. It involves heating and removing the back glass carefully and taking out the logic board before heating and removing the front screen. Always disconnect the battery before you disconnect anything else.

    Never in a million years would attempt doing that. You have the touch of a master watchmaker. Now I know why it’s so expensive to get done. I’ve decided to buy a new phone. And not a Samsung. Thank you for that fascinating video.

      Thank you for the kind words. Samsung's are loaded with adhesives so take your time...

      Youre not joking the adhesive is a real pain. I took mine to phone shop in end to get back off, but only cost me a 5er atleast. Going to try the rest of the repair tomorrow and just hope I can get the front off now with the heat gun, hopefully it will be easier than the back.

    Excellent walk through! I've replaced the screen assembly on all my phones and this was the best instructional video yet. Thank you for posting!

    Suctions cups are a must have & work great to create a small gap in order to start the removal process w/o cracking the screen. Great tip & love the magnet card idea. I use a thin foam piece to put each screw into as they are removed and in their correct placement. ESPECIALLY for Apple products as they are notorious for using 10 different sizes in any device. ;( Thanks for this additional tip. Also, great tip to test the new LCD / Digitizer before going any further. You never know if you received a bad screen on not. FYI, I like using plastic or rubber tipped tweezers. I also use the plastic tools and am very sensitive to pressure issues (plus this limits any ESD issues). You warn about using metal tools around PCB or to disconnect cables, etc. But, then @ 11:20 & other portions. You take the metal tweezers to pry up the antenna cables, connect cables, etc? I have very fine plastic & rubber coating tweezers / pry tools, just for these applications, etc. The paint brush works great for the small debris / glass particles. Good catch on the speaker grill. It is always the little pieces that bite you in the butt in the end. LOL. Argh, then on re-assembly, you used the METAL tweezers again, poking on the PCB and cables. ;( Glad you pointed out to clean the camera. I have seen many a fingerprint left by inattentive techs. Have to fix my nieces 2nd broke phone, but having issues locating the correct / bonafide OEM replacement screen / digitizer. Not some China knock up that has cheap glass etc. Or not compatible with device. Argh. Take care. Thanks for the detailed video. Just my observations & constructive criticism.

    Thanks for the video. It helped me repair the LCD on my Samsung s7. The hardest part was actually removing the back, and knowing how long to use the heat gun for. Took a while but I got her done. The only other surprises was when removing the lcd itself, I couldn't remove it without shattering the "mirror" on the lcd. So got a bit messy but that was just a matter of cleanup. The only issue I had ultimately was the push button was out of place and all the adhesive around it got removed but managed to put it back in place with tweezers, etc. I did want to mention that I did test the new LCD as you did. However, I was not able to turn my phone on as I had no power, my battery had drained as I was unable to power the phone down....so just because it doesn't come up doesn't mean the lcd won't necessarily work. Luckily I went ahead with the install and once I charged my phone, it powered up. I purchased a genuine LCD screen from an ebay vendor and also purchased a tool kit from Amazon. Buy the tools, they are essential.

      I am glad you were able to repair your device successfully. There is almost always some unexpected issue but as long as you stay calm and move slowly and delicately you can usually overcome the issue.

    Is it possible to change the glass only? If yes, how does the digitize reattach to the new glass?

    Thank you.
    I see in my country we have people selling s7 adhesive stickers that seem identical to the original..
    Can you confirm if these are good or if I should just get some tape?

    Are the digitisers the same size on a S7 and S7 edge? I know the battery’s bigger on an edge

    My screen has a red colour on the bottom 2 thirds. Does that mean I need a new digitizer? My screen is also cracked

    Hi! I was able to get the logic board out without removing the battery. Battery is disconnected...is it imperative that I remove it before heating the glass front? Thanks in advance.

    I replaced my S7 Edge battery and now my touch screen is not working, I get picture and all the buttons are working. What could the problem be? I've tried reseating the connectors multiple times and inspected the connections and they seem intact.

    Could i just use some superglue for the front? Very helpful video

    • @MobileDeviceRescue
      @MobileDeviceRescue  5 років тому +1

      No, definitely not. There are very few cases when Super Glue should be used in a repair and in my opinion they are limited to the home button bracket on the back of certain iPad models' glass. For the Galaxy S series and all other phones only use double sided adhesive to stick the screen down. I recommend Tesa Tape because it works the best and I never have a screen come up when using it. I keep a role of 2mm wide and a roll of 10mm wide. You can buy it here. www.mobilesentrix.com/tempered-glass/liquid-tempered-glass/tesa-tape

    will a hair dryer do in place of the heat gun?

    • @MobileDeviceRescue
      @MobileDeviceRescue  4 роки тому +2

      Yes it will. It will take a little longer to get hot enough but will work. You want the device to get hot enough so that you pull your hand back after about 1 second of touching it.

      I just got one from digitalsupplyusa.com it was about $80 with express shipping. There was no sticky back to it. So you will need to tape it. If the back is glass you will likely break it when taking it off. Get tweezers to take off the colored wires. I almost tore of the connect on one of them. Good luck. The screen when broken is real sharp...

      Any screen for any Samsung is a bit expensive. I just found this one for $204. www.fixez.com/samsung-galaxy-s7-g930v-display-assembly-with-frame-and-small-parts-gold
