      I have the insurance on my S7 with Sprint.. they do not tell you that your deductible has to be paid with the insurance. the deductible on the S7 is $200! so I purchased the screen, tools & instructions on ebay - new. for $11.97. just be slow, & careful. do it alone-not with friends, because you will tend to rush the job with friends there.

    just to be clear, is this the way you would replace the screen if you purchased the $230 dollar "pre laminated" new screen from Samsung?

    This was a great video. I watched this about 10 times and then ordered the parts online. I took my time, paused and restarted the video many times. took a couple pictures to make sure I could remember where everything went. I made a little diagram so I remembered to connect all the wires back up and it took me about 3 hours to complete the project. I took my time and cleaned up the old glue and adhesive material very carefully. i'm sure it wasn't necessary but I'm meticulous and wanted a fresh new seal. I am very satisfied and would have never attempted it without the video, thanks for taking the time and sharing.

      It's because samsung in their infinite wisdom put the connector onn the backside. It can not be disconnected because the backplate holds it in place.

      I was thinking the same thing. I have watched a professional replace my iPhone glass and NEVER did they have to dismantle the entire phone. This methods will probably cause errors to occur with the phone and not to mention many of my parts missing or stolen or replaced with bad parts... It seems, I have to buy a brand new phone or go to a dealer to have the screen replaced and it will costs almost the same as for a new phone. OMG, I should have stayed with iPhones!

      Steph Powell just the glass screen but it's always best to get the LCD even though it's a little bit more the installation is a little bit easier than replacing just the glass

      BadSeedProduction ok thanks. Is there a video showing how to replace just the glass though? I've already bought the glass now.

      Ive been repairing phones for over 3 years professionally and im telling you right now that the biggest misconception about fixing cell phones is the complete misunderstanding of glass only versus display assembly repairs. just because you've only cracked your glass doesn't mean that its the only part you have to replace. you STILL have to remove the assembly exactly how he did here in order to replace ONLY the glass. the glass only repair can add an additional hour or more depending on your skill and requires applying a specific chemical called loca in an exact way to make sure the screen applies properly. My point with all of that is that you STILL have to break the screen in order to even just take only the glass off and reattach it and even more importantly the glass only repair is easily 5 times more difficult than just replacing the whole thing. sorry hunny.

    • @stephpowell7648
      @stephpowell7648 7 років тому +2

      Chas Mongiovi your response was really helpful, thank you, just drop the condescending 'sorry hunny' bit at the end. It's unnecessary.

    • @elydiaz1031
      @elydiaz1031 7 років тому

      Sooper Noot yes, that'll work, I've done it. Just start on med setting, then high a bit farther from glass. careful as device will get VERY HOT. Also, this fix is intented for full LCD swaps, as it's super hard to change TOP GLASS only without breaking/screwing the digitizer.

  • @abrahamm1325
    @abrahamm1325 7 років тому

    can the display be removed without damaging the actual screen? i mean the screen on the glass

    • @elydiaz1031
      @elydiaz1031 7 років тому

      abraham m yes, but it's super hard.
      all 3 parts are glued together.
      bottom is
      lcd to digitizer film to top glass
      *if you screw up, the digitizer will.be worthless & you'll need a whole new lcd/digi/top glass part

    hi, I broke the screen on my s7 edge. the phone still works perfectly so i know the pixels aren't damaged or anything, it's just the outside glass that shattered. Samsung is asking for 345€ which is a lot, and they're saying the reason why is because they have to change the "whole module" which means they'll replace almost everything except for the motherboard, battery and back glass. But that doesn't make sense because I only need a replacement for the exterior glass which was exactly what you did, if you could just change the broken screen only why can't samsung do the same? can you help me? thanks a lot and nice video

This is a useful video only for those who are nimble and somewhat familiar with working with sensitive and fragile electronic gadgets like cell phones. I would rather leave this one to the professionals and pay the $350 to have them install a replacement glass.

    now the question i asked myself, is if it is worth buying the lcd + home button (finger print no longer works). insurance is $175 for a new phone. Most screens cost that much. Or will my provider except the flawed phone once the new note is released, since they will allow a return for those inconvenience with the bomb samsung sold us.

    WARNING This is NOT an easy job. If you are not a pro, expect to spend several hours removing the lcd from the digitizer. More than likely you'll break one of the very delicate ribbon cables and unless you can microsolder you now have an expensive brick.
