I’m really good friends with his kid Max Osgood. Amazing hockey player for little casers also really nice humble kid. We both 7th graders and he’s in my social studies class not gonna say the school though. His dad Chris also so cool
My son-in-law had a job doing in home appliance repairs. I got a call from him one afternoon and was he geeked He is a huge Red Wings fan and got a call out to Ozzy's house. Chris casually was talking to him as he did his job and when it was wrapped up, Ozzie asked him if he wanted to see his man cave. My son-in-law was in seventh heaven seeing all of Ozzie's trophies, awards and general Swag on display. Memory of a life time for him. I don't know Chris Osgood, but that was a class act to share with a fan.
401 wins. 2.49 career GAA in reg.season. 2.09 career GAA in Play-offs. 65 career Shut outs. 3 Stanley Cups. Scored a goal. 8th all time in Play-off wins. He definitely should get in. Far less have gone in.
If Osgood wasn't robbed of the Vezina in 95-96 and if they won in 08-09 too it would be so hard to keep him out. Even without those... he retired in the top 10 in wins, hes still at 13th overall. Hearing Vernon talking about it while simultaneously also being worthy of the Hall of Fame conversation. I think Osgood's record outside of Detroit also speaks for itself.
Many islanders fans feel that he was the reason why they got back to the playoffs his first year there after we traded him as NYI has not made playoffs since early to mid 90s. I think that's just one more great argument that suggests that chris was an in fact great goalie and that he wasn't a product of a high octane Detroit team. We needed goaltending to win in the finals those years we did and he was great in the finals in 98 and 2008 and probably should have been 08 MVP. I keep hearing some say that Oz didn't even need to play well for the red wings would win scoring 6 goals with or without much of a goalie and that they were asking for the ride. Bullshit. U don't win in the playoffs without goaltending n and that's why we never won cups after chris retired in 2010 .... at least a big part as Howard who primarily replaced him, could not get it done time and again in playoffs. Off my rant but for one more thing. Chris has over 400 career wins, that in and of itself should suffice to get any goalie in the hof
@BrandonCrapo the dude never missed the playoffs. He took the Isles and the Blues to the playoffs each year he was with the team. He's underrated or at least not given the same credit as being part of the team like Fuhr is.

2008 playoffs. Terrible start after four games. Osgood takes over; 9 STRAIGHT PLAYOFF VICTORIES. Insane save %. Insane GAA. THREE PLAYOFF SHUTOUTS AND THE STANLEY CUP. That plus 400 wins = HOF.
Your viewpoint is definitely widespread, but it's the only thing keeping Ozzie out of the HoF. Not his stats, not his wins, not his character, but the idea that he was on a stacked team. That's what's keeping him out.
If #wins were his only claim to HOF, then your point would make sense. Look at his numbers and accomplishments. Your comment applies more to a Grant Fuhr.
This shouldn't even be a debate. He's a Hall of Famer without question
💯
Lmao no hes not....he never won international

I agree . He should be in the Hockey Hall aid Fame
If Grant Fuhr is in, Osgood should be.
Fuhr the most over rated Tender of all time.

Yes, absolutely yes. He struggled but was core when we needed him.
Osgood for the hall of fame!
91 and 30
IMHO there is NO doubt he should be in the HOF.
With Vernon getting in I'm thinking Osgood will get inducted too.
It's like with Lu Whitaker, it's an absolute disgrace that neither Lu nor Ozzy aren't in the HOF!
Sweet Lou is even MORE of a travesty, and that's a harder HoF to get in to.

Ozzie deserves to be in the HOF over Lundqvist
over Luongo to.
Mickey Redmond was obviously drunk! Lol 😆 Osgood Saved the Detroit Redwings just as much as the Russian 5, the Chelios and Hull and Hasek's!!
I think Mickey's just getting really old. If I remember correctly he had a bout with cancer awhile ago too.
Its the hockey hall of fame not the nhl hall of fame...dude never won outside the nhl...thats why hands down
vernon deserves to go in before ozzie
unfortunately, i don’t think so.
I love Ozzy I really do. But he's not a hall of famer he played on a team that was one of the best for a decade.
So why are ken Dryden? Jacques Plante etc in there then?
