Peter needs help. He's been through too much alcoholism. The least he can do is let somebody help him, even if it's Carla. Or the best thing would be if he never drank alcohol again because he could die if he hits the bottle one more time.
they’re really good at helping each other without even realising, it was a kind of civil, grown up conversation for once! i really hope he does learn to let his family and carla help him; he done such a good job at helping carla last year and i think she wants to help him just as much but he’s letting his pride get in the way. you can see just how much they love each other from those scenes today🥺
@@carlaspeter I understand Peter's angry and upset about the affair, but eventually things should work out better. And you're right, if Peter can help Carla from her ordeal, I'm sure he can let Carla do the same with his.
when they were on the street Carla barely reacted to Peter's announcement, other than a quick glance at daniel and an embarrassed face. and Don't know if she's just in shock, but Carla doesn't sound all that upset while talking to Peter. She just sounds tired and exasperated- even while talking to Roy the way she spoke sounded more like self-pity than guilt or remorse. I'd expect shock or denial or something more- or a touch of the waterworks. was a bit disappointing really Is she just numb with shock? I'd've expected a bigger reaction to the man she loves telling her he's dying and doesn't want her to help with anything
yeah i think it’s more shock than anything else, and she knows that she is partly responsible for him being in that state, i think we are going to see more scenes this year of them both trying to protect each other, so i’m praying they do this storyline right! i’ve been in a similar situation in my family recently so there’s moments where everything really does make sense
I agree. Alison King's a great actress but I've found her delivery in a lot of scenes lately - this one especially - a little bit flat... Carla just seems tired and done with it all. I miss the energy she used to have. Wish they'd give her happier storylines.

I’ve seen stronger emotional reactions from Carla when the staff have been slacking off at Underworld, than in these scenes where’s she finding out the man she loves is dying (which she believes is her fault) and effectively killing off their relationship at the same time. I thought she’d have been welling up a bit at least? But perhaps Peter is right, and if she did get back with him right now it would be purely out of guilt, and not out of love, because the latter isn’t exactly radiating from her at the moment.
@@Meggy-qp9ek i don’t think it’s got anything to do with Ali herself like you said she is a brilliant actress I think it’s just we’re trying to be shown the different ways that people can react like we’ve seen Carla all heartbroken and crying her eyes out now they’re showing this side. I think it will all make sense eventually
I have to agree. But first, I’ll start off with what I did like... I liked that Peter and Carla finally had a civilised, grown up conversation that didn’t end in shouting. I also liked Peter attempting to let go of his previous anger and bitterness and accept responsibility for his own actions. I have my doubts that he has truly forgiven Carla so quickly, I think he was merely trying to remove the burden of guilt from upon her shoulders, but we will have to see how that plays out. But yes, positives about that scene aside, Carla’s reaction (or lack of it) disappointed me too. I really expected more upset from her. One half-hearted “I love you” didn’t really cut it. And her insisting on moving back in and looking after him sounded more out of obligation, than anything. Even in the scene with Roy, she seemed more fed up than genuinely heartbroken. I don’t know... I keep continuing to hope that the writing for Carla will improve. I guess I just miss the Carla who loved Peter with every fibre of her being. Unfortunately, we haven’t seen much evidence of that Carla since they reunited. :(
