I've heard this one before. It seems like OP included her brother into every aspect and major milestone in her life. Then for that brother to do this to her basically affirmed to her that the unique, special bond she felt was only one-sided. I understand why she felt hurt. To be strung along like that for a sham wedding and realizing how little you meant after so many years as close siblings had to be a punch to the soul itself. I disagree she made it sound like he and her had a good relationship and i believe it was not just one sided, I believe the relationship went downhill because of his fiance, notice how he puts the blame on her brother all along, he knew what he was doing and he knew how missed up it is, so either op's brother is doormat to his fiance's tactics or he just started prioritizing his fiance over everybody else, because that is what abusive people do they isolate you from everybody you love, so it is up to the brother to wake up and smell the coffee
One of the biggest things here though. If he cared as much as everyone claims, it wouldn't matter if he thought he was wrong or not, he'd care that she was hurt. I think it was the brother and the boyfriend... the brother and op did have the onesided relationship as she did have this bond but she was just an emotional support person to him. Some thing that was easily replaced when something more new and shiny comes along e.g. new boyfriend. How ever this new boyfriend is a narcissus and they take over who ever they date and so when the brother showed any bond outside thier relationship he will feel threatened so will cut them of usually it would be through causing arguments or poisoning his mind (harder to do as they are accepting of him) to them but with the brother having a one sided bond it will be easy to start talk about her and how silly she is for being cling or needy and how she is just a object of ridicule for them to entertain them selves with and by exstention there family. And so this will make it easier to control him because he doesnt want to be grouped in with them and so the boyfriend can get the brother to finance his life or ignore family and leave them out of important events like weddings. But they can stop their as the narcissus wants to show off how in control he is and the brother doesnt want to be seen as the same light as his family that he will go along or even may of came up with the idea of joke wedding. And so the get a wedding financed by family to make a fool of them and when people dobt react how they wanted then to and are pissed they will act like everyone else is in the wrong and may possibly use thier sexuality to make everyone else seem like the villian and the this will solidify the thought in the brothers head thathis family dont support him... but u know for fact when the marriage fails he will run back to them
