I think that everyone saying that "modern is a rotating format" caused them to do this. People dont say that about legacy, because there are old broken cards that will never be powercrept, that give legacy its identity. I think that opal and looting are modern versions of cards like reanimate, dark ritual, ancient tomb, in that they are powerful enablers that give the format an identity and can never be powercrept. They want opal and looting to be a part of the format, that will never leave the meta, making modern seem like a better long term investment. People are hesitant to get into modern if it 'rotates'.
Fun fact:nadu was the first deck sense the printing of fable to win a pro tore with out fable in the deck. (For formats it was legal in) card has one of the highest win rates of any single card not banned in multiple formats
I am totally nikachu-pilled in mox opal. I started watching you right after it was banned and you talked a lot about how it was a big deal and that banning it was the right move so I am fully expecting a disaster! Same with faithless looting!
Destroying a creature vs twin doesnt always work, cause they can sideboard apostle's blessing, which only cost 1 mana and 2 life to give a creature protection from any color. Which is how I would beat out abrupt decay. Also you can sideboard spellskite.
To be fair, looting wasn't really an issue until hogaak, and they even said it was banned because of hogaak, and with how modern is now it isn't any worse than the rest of the format.
The One Ring banning now is almost silly... the damage has already been done a thousand times over. As for today I am not seeing the One Ring that often anymore anyway.
one ring with more than one is broken because you play it draw 1, get protection play copy to not take a single damage lol and even at 1 in commander its a edh staple because yeh tap draw cards for free for 4 mana is amazing
the ban dose not matter because people will just play the next best deck and when modern horizon 4 comes out all these bans mean nothing because they would just get power crept
Top players always play the top best decks. But currently the top deck (energy) is above and beyond better than anything else so instead of the best players spread out over 5 decks, it’s concentrated into 1.
I'm here to listen the mox opal whining.
The comeback of tribal Ancient stirring, tribal Faithless looting and tribal Mox opal.
I still remember this your phrase many years ago :D

Litterally flabbergasted. My jaw was on the floor. Loved the stream!!

The Power level of modern is op today. Opal seems Fair. Yes, we'll have a ton of artifact decks, some top tier, but they were dead even with saga
The entire LotR set should never had been made legal in Modern
Turn 3 rule? Man we got turn 2 kills in Standard
Destroying a creature vs twin doesnt always work, cause they can sideboard apostle's blessing, which only cost 1 mana and 2 life to give a creature protection from any color. Which is how I would beat out abrupt decay. Also you can sideboard spellskite.
Damn needed another Mox Opal. Time to proxy
So basically the scourges of the formats past Affinity and Splinter Twin are back lol

Me, November 2024: Maybe I should get back into Magic in January.
Me, December 2024: Nevermind.
Unbanning Splinter Twin and Faithless Looting was an absolute dum dum move on WOTC's part.
Cry harder
I look forward to the return of 8rack
Sideboarding for artifact and graveyard decks? Return to Nature will make a comeback!
I'm just waiting until Seething Song gets unbanned from Modern...
The One Ring banning now is almost silly... the damage has already been done a thousand times over. As for today I am not seeing the One Ring that often anymore anyway.
Newly banned cards I own... none
Now unbanned cards I own... 4x or more of each.
$$$!!
I sold my playset of masterpiece opals!! I'm dead now!!!
oh no!
I was hoping Birthing Pod was unbanned.
At this rate it probably will!

I get mushy thinking lantern control is back get ready to not play
Might as well give me back shaman and pod….
Maybe they atr unbanning stuff cause they planning new releeases that will benefit from it, or yhey are juat crazy and maybe idiots
They are just opening the floodgates
I love “perhaps clever schemers, but maybe crazy idiots”
hollow twin , phoenix twin, etc., loothing is broken.
All this means is that wizards is about to reprint mox opal.
Gotta cash in on that reprint equity
zenith was banned cause of arbor mainly
RIP to all the work to get mox opal banned.
Basically
twin is nothting in today modern
I hate the bannings. Love your videos however
Every time mtg players complain about a couple bannings, the Yu-Gi-Oh players laugh at us
Banning are essentials for balancing a game
