    The citizens and the city officials have made a grave mistake by handcuffing and defunding the police. I was there during the gorge Floyd riots and personally witnessed the the unfounded blatant disrespect of law enforcement as people burned, defaced, vandalized and looted for something that happened 2000 miles away. Why would anyone move to a city to protect and risk there lives for a bunch of ungrateful tyrants that spit on you, throw frozen water bottles and fire works at you and unfairly call you a racist simply for doing your job stoping crime. Let's be honest there are a lot of people that use the race card to act out and act up. And at this point that's unexceptionable, the citizens are sick of it.. And the police won't come within a hundred miles of it. If your out burning vandalizing, and looting simply because your looking for a good time and some freebies you need to reconsider the long term outcome. Take a good look at Detroit, the amazing thing is Detroit is safer and cleaner then any part of the bay area. Maybe when you have to take a bus a hundred miles away to find one grocery store to buy food and toilet paper you will decide to start being reasonable but by then it will already be to late!. I'm not trying to rub salt in the wound I just want you to wake up before you destroy the bay area with your unreasonable activism and politics. Think about that the next time you call a police officer a racist or treat them with disrespect simply for doing there jobs.

    I worked in Oakland for 14 years, 12th and Ok St., Jack London Squre. Le Cheval is a longtime favorite. I was assaulted and strangled there in 1986. My vehicle has been broken into several times, and people I know have been victims of gun violence, on the street, the freeways, sidewalks, and encampments. But, it wasn't Oakland, the police department, district attorney, or homeless encampments that I "gave up on." Sure, don't blame the pandemic, but don't blame "crime" either...just say that you give up, and don't want to sacrifice your peace of mind for the decades of revenue Le Cheval provided to you and the community.

      In my opinion she's doing a better job than the last one. I notice a lot less homeless and tagging in the areas it has proliferated in the last year or two. Haven't even seen a smash and grab on my busty street in several months, and those used to be daily on my street. All of us patrol the streets now and each owner regularly remove tags and graffiti as it pops up. It's up to each of us. In every instance, all these crimes were perpetrated by youth (under 18). Empower them and your problem is largely solved. That's why I always talk to our youth and support them and try to let them know that I care. It does matter.

    Oakland police department is useless and a waste of taxpayers dollars

    • @Awesome_Aasim
      @Awesome_Aasim Рік тому

      It's useless because most police departments in the country are busy writing speeding tickets, not investigating homicides or burglaries. There needs to be a change in the role of police and the design of our cities. Good design discourages misuse of public spaces, from roads to ledges and more, no cops required. With that taken care of, police can then focus on problems that actually matter, such as getting drug addicts rehabilitated and, yes, solving major crimes.

    • @sfdanceron1
      @sfdanceron1 Рік тому

      Well, I would say the cop's primary purpose seems to be investigations. Yes, every now and then they'll chase a perp, but your protection is in your own hands, not the cops. What is useless is dialing 911 as the first line of defense, because no matter how fast the cops respond, it will never be fast enough. You better have a piece and know how to use. You can also now get a carry permit, although that lib sheriff is dragging her feet. She will be sued. The more law abiding citizens carrying on the streets of war torn oakland, the better, and I don't want to hear from any libs concerning conceal carry, you have your air horns.
