Cell phone service - Bell, Telus, Koodo and Virgin Mobile - Service is spotty throughout the park. We normally get LTE with 1 out of 3 bars. Some buffering with UA-cam. Phone calls and text messaging works well. If you have experience with the cell service here please comment so that others can benefit from your experience.
Everytime I watch your guys videos makes me smile laugh and love the memories you all make together with jax. You guys are relationship goals laughing having fun traveling making memories all over camping. Cheers to my fav youtube channel out there about Camping. 🎉❤
Thankyou for the advice. My wife and I will definitely watch that video. We are newly retired and plan on using our brand new camping trailer, or as I call it “Our cottage on wheels”.
@@leeandrews1072 thanks. I enjoy putting the videos together at this time of year. I get to relive the camping experience. Soon it'll be time to start making reservations again! 😀
Love Silver Lake PP. I had to work from camp for a few days and ended up going in to Perth. The public library has a lovely wifi garden with tables and power if you start work before it opens. Then it is easy to find a quiet spot to work inside when it does open. Libraries Rock!!!! (Rogers/Fido and Bell/Virgin were spotty at Silver Lake. Not suitable for Teams or VPN)
Silver Lake is our favourite park. Just the two of us and close to home it’s the right fit. And Perth is close enough for quick grocery trips if needed. We have always found the Park Wardens are the best, so friendly. Thanks for your review!
We found the wardens very friendly too. I was surprised that they suggested letting the dog off leash in the day use area if there is nobody around. It makes sense but often they stick strictly to the rules. Nice to have a park so close to home.
Another great review! Your videos are appreciated and a must-watch. If I may ask, are those 3 outdoor candle holders you have on your picnic table? I'm looking for something unbreakable and outdoorsy to put a candle in. Might have to hit the thrift shops. One thing I'd like to know before booking a park is what kind of washroom facilities are available at the beaches and how far they are from the beach (for people with kids or those of us who like to park it at the water's edge with a book for the whole day). I'm wondering if that might be something you could address when you do your beach reviews? I know at Inverhuron the nice day use beach washrooms are closed during the week in the fall, so that kind of information is helpful to have as well. Thanks again for your great and detailed videos!
Michaud Toys is great. They have a neat little shop in Jarvis, On. All handcrafted wood games. Very friendly service and very reasonably priced for the quality of the product.
Wonderful review. I was hoping you'd review Silver Lake as we've stopped at that rest area three times for picnics but never checked out the park. Michaud toys is located in Jarvis Ontario just 5 minutes away from us. The village is worth a visit around Christmas for the lights it is quite amazing.
We stopped at the rest stop along Hw7 at Silver Lake in September on our way home from biking in Ottawa and staying at Fitzroy Prov Park. We just love that area and talked about coming back to camp at Silver Lake. Perth is a nice little town isn't it?
I miss camping I need Spring Nice little Park , but Dont care for the hwy. & no place for the dog to run and play mine is a lab and loves the water . agree with rating.
What is your trick to being able to book so many campgrounds all in a row. We’ve tried to book on the provincial campground web site many times only to loose spots within minutes? Any tips?
It's just persistence I guess. We try exactly 5 months to our arrival date at exactly 7 am. If we can't get a site right away we stay online for about a half our on that date and keep checking for sites coming available. Sometimes people grab more than one site in their cart, then drop one 15 minutes later, so you'll see those pop up. If we don't get one that morning we click on the NOTIFY ME button to get notified of new openings. Usually, exactly 4 months from your arrival date sites will become available as people cancel dates they overbooked for. If you haven't seen it yet, you can check out the video we did about making reservations with Ontario Parks ua-cam.com/video/1S7qQyDqyjc/v-deo.html
Cheryl often orders the moonshine online from TopShelf and we have 4 games from Michaud's and bought some for family and friends last Christmas. Enjoy!
Silver Lake was our first provincial park and we had the same site! We found it very busy and noisy, quite exposed. One of our dogs stepped off the boardwalk thinking it was solid ground - after we fished her out of the bog, off to the water - bog stink is way worse than Rideau River stink!
@@karenvalley3061 yeah, bog stink really sticks with a furry dog! We were fortunate to be at the park at a very quiet time. Thanks for sharing your experience at a busier time.
I think Silver lake is very close to other parks and would be better to use your camping pass just to visit the lake is nice but the camp ground is not as attractive. It is loud woth the traffic. Same like Sharbot which is a bit better. Noise wise.
@@shawnsprague7401 we'd probably use it as a stop over park on our way somewhere. There are too many great Parks in Ontario to go to one right next to the highway for a long trip.
@@stevemccarthy8663 yes it was a very comfortable ride. I haven't found many others with cockpits the size of the Pungo. I think it's 57 inches long. I'm still looking though.
We have met a few people with cats. Jax lets us know real fast if somebody is walking by with a cat. Like dogs they need to be leashed. Lots of new sights, sounds and smells for them.

Considering it's next to the highway, the cell service was very poor. We were with Rogers and connectivity was more miss than hit.

Very nice! I really liked Silver, but a 7 is a very fair rating. I thought Cheryl was going to push it up to 7.5, but no. :)

You're very welcome. We love making the videos. If you see us out there in the wild, don't hesitate to say hi.
Hilarious how your dog backs away when you mention the smell 😆
LOL, we didn't even notice that. I think he's embarrassed about his own smell.
