- we got lost in rural Cambodia on day 3 of our motorbike trip across the country. After visiting Siem Reap and Battambang we wanted to get out of the cities and into the Cambodian countryside, exploring a little more off the beaten path. In this video we really experience the local side of Cambodia, the friendliness of the Cambodian people, the beauty of the nature and the many challenges along the way as we head towards Phnom Samkos wildlife sanctuary to a small village called Phumi Pramaoy.

It's so nice of that guy to follow you to tell you you were going the wrong way. I think you'll find that the more rural the area, the nicer the people here.
every village knows youre on the way before you get there, because they generally the vfictim of shady stuff
a) It's a way to track tourists and expats to make sure they are safe
b) Confirm if you are an organ harvestor, villagers will come together and bury them before they get a chance
Most of our Khmer people (Cambodian) are nice like that. Don't believe too much in Google map.

A word of advise to anyone planning on riding a scooter or motorbike in south east Asia.
Even experienced bikers like myself stand a far greater chance of coming off the bike in these places. There are so many reasons for this, the bad roads, the lack of rules, the sheer volume of traffic in the cities etc.
If it's too hot for full gear use good quality knee and elbow pads along with proper summer motorcycle gloves. Just take a look at motorcycle statistics for westerners in south east Asia to get an idea of how many people ended up torn to pieces in hospitals or worse.
He is a nice guy, you guys are lucky dudes.

14:50 That reminds me of my time as a bike messanger, every winter it would rain most of the season, and I'd need to stuff my bike shoes with newspapers after I got off work so they would be dry for my next shift, I remember I always packed a pair of dry socks in my bag and a little plastic bag, so half way through the day, I'd change into dry socks so I could make it to the end of the day.
Lucky guesthouse in Battambang, i have visit the place many times. Friendly staff who speak english. Ok rooms ,without aircondition 6 dollars.Pleace visit the indian restaurant Masala house.Taste exellent,the owner is from Goa (India),his friendly and smiling wife from cambodia.
I recommend you to come again during April , Cambodia new year day.

I think you go the wrong way that why you crossed the Stueng Dauntri River. If you go the correct way, you would not cross the river.
I was wondering if you could help me - I am trying to figure out how to legally ride an ADV bike in Cambodia on a bike over 125cc - I found that my travel insurance will not cover me unless I am riding legally by Cambodian standards. However it looks like to ride over 125cc you have to have a Cambodian license which means you have to be a resident (to provide proof of residence) which I will not be when I visit later this year. Can you guys tell me what yall did or give me any insight on what yall went through to be able to ride?

yay for getting off the 'beaten track' and also yay for remembering that Cambodia and Laos are still full of literally millions of unexploded ordinance.. landmines and cluster bomb 'bomblets' . Stick to where you can absolutely know it's been cleared.
