An independent feature film based on the true story of three Afghan refugees, their will to survive, and the dramatic conditions they endure on their journeys to the unknown. Directed and produced by Sonia Nassery Cole, we follow Massoud, a young man, who embarks on a perilous journey from Afghanistan through Iran, Turkey, Greece and Germany, along with a pregnant doctor and an old wise man.
After witnessing the loss of his father at the hands of the Taliban and ISIS, Massoud vows to honor his late father's wish and embarks on a tortuous journey. Massoud’s desire is to deliver his mother and sister to safety, from the otherwise certainty of death by the hands of extremists.
I AM YOU is an evocative depiction of the resilience of refugees and those forced to flee their countries and escape violence, hardships, and war.

I know its a crazy dream, but wouldn't it be lovely if the world united to make it safe for all peoples in their own countries. People need to belong to someone, someplace. They will always be where they are from, no matter where they go. Love is where the heart is. ❤ As I said a crazy dream.

The fact people make this trip is truly an injustice. It's horrific. I truly feel terrible for them. Which is why the trips NEED TO END. The answer is not to encourage people to flee their nations for 'hope in the west.' This secures the existence of slave trades, human trafficking, sexual abuse... people drowning in the Seas.. and of course it creates Nationalistic Responses from European people who feel the rates of migration are unsustainable and threatening to their very existence. If people think the answer is emptying out parts of Asia, The Middle East and Africa in order to come 'West they are totally naïve to the fact that they may have some people who currently flee.. However in 50 years time the West will be overpopulated, unable to house and feed its diverse, conflict ridden population and thus at war itself. All resources MUST be channeled into fixing the issues that cause this dangerously high migration pattern. So just remember.. when you see the terrible things these people go through.. by supporting open arm migration policies you are ensuring that your children/grandchildren will endure such hardships as the quality of life in the West diminishes. - STOP HUMAN SUFFERING. DON'T CREATE IT!
