Two days ago I bought the same model from a flea market for 20€. The power cable has been cut off. It has a module screwed on the side, probably the remote control receiver. I hope to restore it and your video will be very helpful!
My grandparents rented the Grundig 2x4 Plus (not the Super) in 1981, not sure what company rented Video2000, think it might have been the Co-Op. They didn't have it long as it kept breaking down, and the rental company swapped it for a Philips VR2021 which they kept until 1983 before changing to VHS. I still have 2 Grundig VCC480 tapes and 1 BASF VCC360 from back then, as they never threw out the tapes after going VHS.
Nice work. I have quite a few v2000 tapes but no machine. The 3V23 equivalent is the HR-7700 and I have the AKAI version which is the VS-10 model. Very over-engineered machine but built very well...
£699 in 1981, £299 in 1982 when Grundig ditched the format and flogged off their huge stocks of unsold machines to the likes of Comet. And they included the remote kit free. We were told to sell them with confidence as "rental tapes in V2000 format are available" (bit of a fib, very few titles were to be found). As far as I recall the model was always referred to as 'two by four' rather than two "x" four. The 99 day timer would have been of limited use, but when multi event 365 day timers and LCD remotes came in with weekly or monthly repeat functions came in you literally could record months in advance - handy for soap fans. There was a stereo version of this machine but I never saw one for sale anywhere.
Is it normal for these machines to just display 88 8888 (like it does in this video at 4:13 or so)? I could get one of these for pretty cheap (compared to known working ones), but the seller said "it just displays error 88 8888" and I'm wondering if that's actually a problem or if that's just the machine saying "nothing is set up you doofus" (time etc) :D edit: unfortunately after reassembly at 11:40 the video skips straight to the machine displaying something that makes sense, so I can't tell if it started up displaying 88 8888 as well and you just pressed something to make it stop doing that or not

But it was linear stereo, so you had two channels of the same poor audio quality.
