I love how you can SEE the decline from normal person to sleep-deprived crazy lunatic near the end. Tooooootally me every day during Nano. I can't believe you still managed to write so much at the end, though-my brain shuts down after 8pm and I will sit there for an hour and only squeeze out 50 words. You did an amazing job! I'd love to do a 24-hour writeathon, but with kids it just ain't gonna happen!
Awww, thank you! YESSSSS the decline was so real. I honestly thought I wouldn't get any once I hit the "officially too tired to function normally" stage, but somehow arguably did my best then. I wonder if I'll feel the same once I reread it haha. I can't imagine trying to do this with anyone else around -- let alone kids! It's definitely one where you need "ideal circumstances" haha. No one around, not sick, etc. etc.!
I once wrote a screenplay in five days straight, no sleeping. My son brought me tea and food and I took bathroom breaks. I just had to keep going. Once done, I slept for almost three days. Then I edited and rewrote it a couple of times. Everyone loved it. It never sold. Never again. PI books are almost always written in first person. Like you, I switched back and forth, until I got tired of editing for consistency. I'm currently writing a cozy mystery series. The first couple of books will be through the eyes of one of the main characters, but the next will be through the other main character because the first will be away. Be well, write well, and get some sleep! Jon in BC, Canada
Would I ever do a 24-hr write-a-thon? Hell yes....but, probably only once, lol. I've always taken the first week of NaNo as vacation from work, so now I'm thinking I might "try" and have a 24-hr session just to see what happens...it might be fun to do a "first-week-no-pressure-yet-session". I'm game! In the 12-ish years I've done NaNo, there have been 2 high wordcount days that I can remember. My highest wordcount (which was probably during an unofficial write-a-thon, lol) was a little over 17K. This was a "last-day-of-NaNo-and-I-don't-want-to-lose" session, but I had the whole day off work, so I don't remember this being an overly "stressful" day...just looooong. And, I think it didn't register as stressful because I'd already had the worst "last-day-of-NaNo-ever" several years before. For the record, I've never lost NaNo--I refuse to allow it, apparently, lol. So, about 8 years ago, I came home from work (around 6p) on the last day (so 6 hrs left) and I still had to write 12K. And, this was before I knew about the "sneaky hack" of adjusting your time zone to add a couple hours to the ABSOLUTE deadline, lol... It was the biggest stream-of-consciousness mess I've ever written. But, panic? adrenaline? demon-possession? something? worked to get me to the end. I averaged 1k words/30 min. I can remember taking bathroom breaks, but I don't remember eating or drinking anything--- It was the absolute worst/best writing session ever. It was pure, unmitigated insanity. By the end, my arms were shaking, my hands were throbbing, and my fingers felt like they were still hitting keys for several hours after. I hit 50k with about 10 mins to spare, went to validate, and the NaNo bots ate about 200 of my words. So I had to add some 250 words in an "I'm-about-to-pass-out-from-hyperventilation-but-I-CAN'T-lose-frenzy" but, I did it. I managed to get it validated 1 (that's ONE) minute before the window closed. The Winner's page materialized and I bawled like a baby for an hour straight. And, I had to take about half a bottle of Ibuprofen over the course of the next couple of days because of how bad my arms burned... The relief of finishing was paralyzing for a while. But, the thrill of doing it was such a high. Not sure I could ever do that again. Not to that intensity. I'd probably have a heart attack. (x_x)
Oh. My. God. I. Don't. Even. Know. How. To. Respond. This. Story. Is. Insane. You are a champion, a hero amongst heroes! HOW DID YOU WRITE SO MANY WORDS IN SO LITTLE HOURS!?!?!? I know that last day panic, but not quite like that. The most I've ever tried to do in the last day is 8K and I wanted to die for like two days after haha. HOW ARE YOU STILL ALIVE. Seriously, kudos. I will go ahead and say I think you were possessed but what a polite and kind demon for helping you meet your goals! hahaha.
Yeah, demonic possession has always been my belief. I don't even know how I did it. Funny thing, when I finally went back and reread it (some 8 years later) it wasn't 100% crap...I mean, it was horribly overwritten and VERY tell-y instead of showy, but it was actual material I could work with. It was actually the novel I used during this year's #pitchwars, so there's that, lol....
The same as last year... ***crickets*** But, it's all good. It forced me to get my story into shape, so there's that. And, the CP I picked up from last year's event asked me to join their writer's group this year, so extra bonus! That's the thing about pitchwars---the chances of anybody getting selected is so slim, but the community surrounding it makes it all worthwhile :-) How did things go for you? Are you glad you entered?
Kate, I think writing 52 stories at a time is not healthy girl XD Even your puppy knows it. I wish I had time to do a 24 hrs Write-a-thon, but school tho, and yeah... :( hahaha Good luck in your stories!
Oh gosh, yeah, definitely could NOT imagine doing this while at school. It would be way too physically exhausting hahah. AND YES, I need to tone it down, but there's just so many ideas hahaha.
24:08 I know this is random but this reminds me of minecraft where when you put bookcases around an enchanting table it gives you stronger enchantments and theres those little white things that flow from thr book case to the enchanting table. I just got this image in my head of kate at her desk and the little white symbols flowing from the bookshelves into her head giving her words/inspiration. XD i need to sleep
Holy crap I could never do this- I need minimum 8 hours of sleep every 24 hours,- although I think I would love to try a 12 hour write a thon... maybe with a 500 word an hour goal? Hmmm..
OOOH YES. A 12 hour write-a-thon sounds great. Give it a try! And I'm definitely an 8 hours/night kind of girl. I slept the next two days extra extra to make up for it haha. It's definitely not something I'd try regularly (though I already am planning the next time haha).
Everything about this was super impressive - 15k words in a day AND going for a run AND being funny at 3 am etc. etc. :- ) Also, yay for a murder mystery! The other story sounds very intriguing, too :- ) I think now I'm going to remember how to spell occasionally - thanks! :- D
Ahahaha so glad I can help! I've honestly gotten it wrong since so I DON'T KNOW WHY I CAN'T REMEMBER hahah. It's the new bane of my writing existence. I don't even use it often enough to warrant this struggle haha. And aww, thank you!! This was so positive! :)
The very first thing I heard from this video is my alarm sound and it scared me so much. That sound is linked with me waking up at 5:45 and getting ready for school.
I don't think I'd ever do a 24hr write-a-thon. I'd be wiped out it for a week after. If I ever hear you say you're going to do one again, don't worry, I'll tell you it's a crazy idea! Still, congrats on getting 15k done!
Did anyone else notice how much different her voice was while talking to the camera rather than talking to the drive in person??? I totally thought it was someone else XD
I have watched this video thousand times and I am not exaggerating this is so perfect it's funny it's interesting to watch and inspiring. I really miss her old editing style 😭
I'm gonna do this today (2/25/19) Starting at 9:30AM (so in 2 minutes) I am excited and terrified. Lets see how well I do I'll update you'll each hour.
@хелена I only wrote for 15 hours because I was already running on little sleep and my brain just couldn't. I wrote almost 10K. Which isn't bad because I can usually get 10k in a day if I try really hard, I'm focused, and determined.
I'm currently writing a murder mystery/history/romance book right now and I am loving it! I am 70K in after just two weeks. I wish I could do a 24 Hour Write A Thon but I get too distracted by all of the author tube videos
You are so amazing I’m not sure how I ran across your channel but I am hooked on your videos. You’re so awesome, I hope I can be this dedicated very soon just by watching you it is very inspiring! Thanks for sharing. 💕
Girl, you a fancy coffee maker. I'm fully convinced I need to schedule one of these writeathons very soon. If anything, just for the torture. Congratulations on reaching a new words in one day record! Side note: I also have a line of hummingbird feeders outside my office window haha.
It's legit my favorite and biggest luxury, my espresso maker and my coffee maker haha. GIVE ME THAT CAFFEINE. And yessssss to doing a write-a-thon! I can't wait to see how it goes for you. And sadly the hummingbird season here is starting to come to an end, so they'll be coming down soon. :( But they're legit so fun to look at! One of my fav parts of the warm weather season (because, honestly, I'd rather all year be sweater weather).
😂 When I was in school, I always did the same thing. Who cares if I knew a month ahead of time, papers were reserved for the night before they were due hahah.
I had never heard of this before, but as I'm falling more and more behind on NaNoWriMo this year and a deadline looming, I'm intrigued. As a Texan in Paris, France right now, I had to rewatch the section about the honey butter chicken biscuit. I had one during every all-nighter I ever pulled in college. They don't have them here T.T Also, rum-soaked gummy bears and champagne? I've never tried that but it sounds good!
For a while, I used to write in first person present tense. I thought it was okay at the time and some people liked it. Then I wrote a fanfiction in third person present tense and it also seemed good. And then I decided to write in third person past tense for Nano. Now I cannot stand writing or reading present tense. There's just something disgusting about it now, lol. Anyway, good luck to me for writing a full book in a few days. I probably just jinxed myself.
i came back to rewatch this video and i did not realize it was from 2018 WHAT the time has passed so quickly XD i remember seeing the notification for this video when it came out and being so excited to read it! BUT IT FELT LIKE THREE WEEKS AGO JEEZ
This is incredible!! Seeing you hit such an insane goal in one day is so inspiring! I'm nervous about hitting the daily goals for Camp NaNoWriMo but this has shown me how much is physically possible. It's all about that drive and perseverance! You're amazing! Also loved the gummy bear champagne break in the middle of the night 😂
A LITERAL reenactment indeed ;) Great video, and great job! 15k is quite the feat! I've managed once, on a day off, and I'm tempted to try again (the year after I think I managed 17,5k in a day, aiming for 20k). My brain was complete mush at the end, and when I went back to read what I'd written, I couldn't remember any of it. But at the same time, it's a fun challenge and I do want to try again, at some point. :D
17,500 words is UH-MAZING!! Definitely yes, try it again! I'm leaning toward trying again during NaNo myself baha. I haven't gone back to reread any of my words yet (since I tend to wait til the end of the first/zero draft) but I'll let you know how it goes!
Kate Cavanaugh I just might! :D November is going to be a bit stressful (I'm traveling and perhaps also moving), but I'm not going to say a flat out no... ;) Haha, do that, I'm excited to hear it!
Hi. I've been binging a LOT of your content over the last two days. And I was really thinking "for being from Texas, she doesn't have that heavy of an accent". But Hour 22 Kate? You can hear it. It suddenly appears. Just something I noticed. Keep up the great work! :)
Aaw puppy is so excited to go walkies, he earned it, he worked hard. I wonder if you were shifting tense because your braineum wanted part of it to be a recounted past tense story, and another thread of it to be happening in the here and now? I always find that an interesting state because it's closer to the world our minds live in, we have the past to remember and we have the present always co-existing.
I'm an academic writer who spends most of her days writing for law reviews and I cannot imagine how you manage to pull it off. Your videos are so inspirational! Thank you! Good luck with your work :))
You average 2500 words a day? Holy freaking golden Pope bunnies Kate! I'm inspired to write more. My environment isn't ideal but I can't let that be an excuse. Also, great job, 15k in 24 hours is a great accomplishment. If you only do it OCCASIONALLY. ;)
😂😂😂 WHY WAS THAT WORD SO HARD HAHAHA. And I do now but I definitely didn't average 2500 back when I was working a full-time office job AND trying to write at the same time. But we can always try to do the best in our own situations. :)
I was drawn to this video because I just had myself a bit of a writing weekend or a Solo Writing Retreat (can't decide which sounds better/more crazy) this weekend just passed. Had a brand new wip, an outline that I'd at least semi thought through and a TON, and I mean, A FRIGGING TON of coffee and plenty of junk food and I just wrote. Woke up 8am on Saturday, started writing 9am, didn;t stop (minus necessary breaks lol) until 00:30 on Sunday, crashed, re-awoke 7:30 on Sunday, began writing bout 830 and barrelled through until 22:30. While not as epic, or insane, as 24hr straight I got to say I have to hand out mega props to you. This looked brutal! Congrats :D (Also well jealous of the scenery you get to run in)
Wow, this was amazing to watch!! You made so much progress in a single day, 15k words is incredible! It's great that your story is flowing so well, I hope it continues to go that way for you! I would totally attempt a 24-hour write-a-thon someday...when my migraines aren't constant, unabating disasters lol. But I also have the feeling that if I attempted this on a good day, it might set off a migraine lol, so who knows. Maybe if I'm feeling brave. 😂I would love to make this kind of progress in a day, haha. Would you do this again? I feel like it's maybe fun to try once, but then you know you can get a lot done in a day, so if you wanted to try to write for half the day, a few days in a row, like a week-long write-a-thon or something lol. That would be interesting as well because you'd still made good progress but maybe not wear yourself completely down in a single day. I think I'd like to try something like that out, do a week-long event and see how much writing I can get done by writing as much each day as possible (as much as I want). No rules, no stress, haha. Thank you for sharing, Kate, this was so much fun to vicariously experience, haha! :D
Oooooh yesssssssss, I'd definitely not recommend this for those who easily get migraines/carpal tunnel/hand cramps/anything like that. Potentially TMI, but my migraines are tied to my hormones (now that I'm an adult), so I definitely wouldn't have tried this if I'd been at a different point in my cycle. Aaaaaaand I'm actually thinking of trying this again during NaNo! Because I'm insane. I'm really curious how a week-long write-a-thon would work! I think anything with challenges, that pushes you a little, and parameters would be fun. For me, since I think I probably average 2500 creative words/day, I could try to push that and get that EVERY DAY (rather than 4000 here, 3000 here, and 300 here or whatever haha). Ooooor, I could do it by hour or something. Either way, it'd be fun! I might try that in the future, actually. :) :)
Over 40 minutes of Kate? Yes, Please😆! I would so do a 24 hour write-a-thon. I don't know if I would make it but I'd like to at least try. I'm a very slow writer but I think the most I've ever done in a day is around 9k.
9K is freaking awesome though! I think I've only had this 15K, a 10K, and a very hurried and rushed 8 or 9K on the last day of NaNoWriMo. Every other time, it's much more reasonable haha. And aww, you're so sweet! I DEFINITELY recommend giving this a try! You might surprise yourself. Plus it's a crazy amount of fun (mostly after), even if you crash early, I'm sure.
CONGRATS!! You’re amazing!! Awwww, I love that Duke just wants to be near you at all times. He’s so cute my head is going to burst! (And I love that you too have what I call “Drive-thru voice!” lol! I have the same thing, where my voice goes up an octave) Your expression was priceless when you hit hour 11. That sense of dread that you weren’t even half-way through lol. Exactly how I’d feel hahaha! I wish I could do over-nighters again! I used to do them in my 20s and I loved them. But now that I’m older, I’d be out of commission for a few days if I did that lol! I used to do the tense thing too, but not because I couldn’t decide, but because I’d been writing screenplays for so long which are all present tense and I’d find myself slipping into it by accident even though I wanted the novel to be in past tense. I freaking hate tenses lol. You looked so tired by the end lol!
THANK YOU! And yes, he's such a sweetheart. I'd get tired of something or a little frustrated if I didn't know how to say what I wanted to, look down at him, and then be at least a little bit happier haha. Ooooh yes, I could see what a huge change that would be! Almost like exercising a different muscle between writing scripts vs. writing novels haha. The tense thing just had me going WHY WHY WHY each time. I've given up (I'm still doing it, even though it's not a write-a-thon haha) and just decided I'll fix it in the next draft (hopefully haha). And OMG the drive-thru voice! Please hear me clearly, please think I'm nice bahaha.
Wow wow wow I've been hard on myself to start writing one of my story ideas cuz I was over thinking it thinking I was allowed to only work on one at a time. but with you're like 10 story ideas on that chart it gives me more hope slash confidence to write it all. You're awesome, keep it up
If you write five hundred words a day, in three days you will have almost finished a short story, depending on its length, of course, and the quality of your work will almost certainly be better than if you force yourself to write 15, 000 words in a day. I like writing, and reading, short fiction, though, so go for your life. It's your writing.
I'm doing this today because you inspired me when I watched the video a few years ago! And yes, I'm using this video as a way to procrastinate my words for this hour...
😂 lol. This was awesome to watch, especially timely for me since I endured an insanely stress-filled 16 hr work day today and I watched this to unwind! 😉. Congrats on the crazy word count! ( I may try this myself one day )
Ooooh, I'm so happy I can help you unwind! A 16-hour work day sounds insane enough, let alone that it was stressful! And yesssss, definitely give it a try. It's definitely fun. I think it would have been fun even had I "failed." Next time, I'll just aim to beat my word count this time, even if I go to sleep early hahaha.
I've seen some 24 hour challenge videos...but not with writing! It's fun to watch and might try it one day. Question: Do you have any published works? After seeing your channel and the little that you've said of your writing seems really interesting, and I just wanted to know if anything is out yet available to read.
This was so much fun to watch! And congrats on hitting 15k!! I think I would actually like to try my hand at a 24 hour Write-A-Thon... But I think it'd be more fun (and maybe a little easier?) to do it with a writer buddy or in a group. Maybe... The most words I've ever written in a day is just under 13,000. And yes, the "writing hangover" hit hard after and ended up lasting a couple of days.
Yesssss, try it! I think I'm going to attempt one during NaNo, so maybe we can do one together (or video chat during parts of it haha). 13K is awesome, even though the writing hangover is slightly less so haha. As time goes by, I think it's worth it to try occasionally! hahah. But couldn't deal with the writing hangovers often.
Another day, another writing vlog... and yet the first thing I notice is that you are wearing the exact same friggin's socks I have. Power to you for weathering another writing experiment and for cool looking socks! ^_^
This was such a fun video! Good for you for doing this and congrats on the 15k. I think I would try this, but maybe start with a 15-hour one first? And.. I totally switch tenses in my novel too 🙃
After watching a few of your videos now I want to write soooo bad on one of my stories! Hopefully tomorrow, lol.. but also Im super curious about yours! It'd be cool to read some of your stuff. 😍 enjoying your videos so much, been binge watching. Lol.
Girl, you're mad! In my current state as a writer, I wouldn't do this. I mean, I can't even complete a NaNoWriMo project, let alone write 15,000+ words in 24 hours.
Part of me thinks I’d love to do something like this - although maybe 12 hours! - but I don’t know if I’d be able to! Maybe if I could find someone to do it with me
This might sound weird, but the sound of your videos with headphones is MAGICAL. Like when your pour water in the coffee maker, it's kind of calming. Anyways I'd like to try this one day but it would be actual torture Lol.
Bahaha, maybe it's the distance between this 24-hour period and now, but I'm starting to think it wasn't so bad! I should go back and rewatch this just so I remember when I told myself not to do it again hahah. And ooooh, I'm glad! I love when other people have those sounds in their videos so being able to create it myself is too freaking cool!!
Very inspirational how you were able to get so much done, by pushing forward even in midst of drowsy spells! Thanks for sharing your life example Kate.
Aww, thank you! Yeah, it's crazy to me how some of those hours were my best (by word count at least). I'll let everyone know how it goes when I re-read that project later haha.
I did my first write-a-thon while camp nano was going on and got 8k, I think? My goal was 10k but I didn't plan all that well to get to that point and I injured my wrists previously, /but/ I want to try it again sometime soon. Hopefully, that'll go better!
Oh gosh, my biggest fear was injuries or a head ache or eyes that just stopped wanting to focus. It's hard to look at a screen for so long, it's hard to make the same motions over and over, and it's hard to stress your brain to come up with more and more story. It definitely takes its toll! That being said, I'm totally with you! Definitely, we should both try again hahaha. I'm sure it will go better for you, especially now that you have experience! And 8K is nothing to sneeze at, that's awesome! YOU GOT THIS! :)
Kate Cavanaugh i actually tried again this weekend and got to 10k!! i started earlier and planned better and took more breaks, so my wrists/hands faired pretty well, and i think, like you’re saying, the experience i had helped me do better this time around!!
I have the same alarm as you (and I hate it so much), so when the video started, I was so confused and kind of annoyed. Also why would you do this to yourself?!?!?
Congrats, Kate on your progress!!! This video was hilarious and I'm so jelly you got to do a 24-hour write-a-thon... Kinda hard to do one of those with a 5 month old in the house lolz. Mine would be 24 hours EVENTUALLY but not consecutively lolz. However, nephew isn't gonna be a baby forever so sometime in the future.... In the meantime, I haven't exactly been writing these days but I have been stimulating my creative well (does writing for Episode Choose Your Story count?) If you haven't heard of it, it's an app where you use code in script and you can create your own cartoon basically. Check out Joseph Evans YT tutorials (you'll be hooked). But I digress, this "diversion" has helped me with dialogue and shaping my own novel stories. In a way, stalling has helped me be a better writer. I'm sure you get that. Writers are complex, this video is proof of that lolz.
I can't even imagine how that would work with little ones around (or anyone -- too many distractions!!). Yes, little nephew will only be this little once! Take all the time to enjoy it. And that sounds SO COOL. I will definitely check it out!! And yesssss, there are so many non-writing things that I think can improve our writing! That's why I always try to tell people to live their lives and experiment with new things and not spend ALLLL their time writing (despite what this 24 hours non-stop video may suggest bahaha). Inspiration and growth opportunities are everywhere!!
Bahaha, I have that same problem when other people have that alarm! I get like second-hand anxious that it's time for ME to wake-up (even if I'm already awake haha).
Hello, me again. Watching videos out of order. I am in TN. If you come to Nashville, please do a meet up of some kind! Or better, if you do a book tour when you get Murder Mystery Tennessee published.
YES GIVE IT A TRY! You never know what it could kick-start and it's definitely a fun (albeit ridiculous) challenge regardless. No downside other than the loss of sleep and sanity hahaha (but that's all temporary anyways!).
*Tells herself to never do this again*

Nothing at allllll! What’s better than writing in a good weather and just being cozyyyy
Nothing at all
Yes.

You mad woman! That looks miserable. Now I have to do it too. I’m scheduling it in my planner right now!
BAHAHAHA YES. Those contradictory feelings are exactly right! LET ME KNOW HOW YOU DO. :)

I once wrote a screenplay in five days straight, no sleeping. My son brought me tea and food and I took bathroom breaks. I just had to keep going. Once done, I slept for almost three days.
Then I edited and rewrote it a couple of times. Everyone loved it. It never sold.
Never again.

I'm currently writing a cozy mystery series. The first couple of books will be through the eyes of one of the main characters, but the next will be through the other main character because the first will be away.
Be well, write well, and get some sleep!

Hey, fellow Canadian! That sounds rough. I think I would’ve fallen asleep 1 day in, lol!
I'm procrastinating my writing by watching a video of someone writing for 24-hours... :') anyways, I LOVE your videos 💕
That. Is an amazing story.
Oh. My. God. I. Don't. Even. Know. How. To. Respond. This. Story. Is.
HOW DID PITCHWARS GO FOR YOU!?
The same as last year... ***crickets***
But, it's all good. It forced me to get my story into shape, so there's that. And, the CP I picked up from last year's event asked me to join their writer's group this year, so extra bonus! That's the thing about pitchwars---the chances of anybody getting selected is so slim, but the community surrounding it makes it all worthwhile :-)
How did things go for you? Are you glad you entered?
Kate, I think writing 52 stories at a time is not healthy girl XD Even your puppy knows it. I wish I had time to do a 24 hrs Write-a-thon, but school tho, and yeah... :( hahaha Good luck in your stories!
Oh gosh, yeah, definitely could NOT imagine doing this while at school. It would be way too physically exhausting hahah. AND YES, I need to tone it down, but there's just so many ideas hahaha.
... So me working on more than five stories during school is bad I'm guessing.... Welp
Wait you actually get 8 hours of sleep? What's that like? Hahaha
This was so freaking entertaining to someone who has always wondered how writers work.
I wrote “dogs” instead of ‘gods’ with a non sleep deprived brain...I don’t know what I’d do during a 24 hr thon lol
I like how u list your different projects at top of spreadsheet, then mark up how many words u do for each in the 24 hours
That sound is linked with me waking up at 5:45 and getting ready for school.
do NOT ever start a video with that sound xD god dangit, i thought i was dreaming and about to wake up, surreal
The anxiety was real.
I don't think I'd ever do a 24hr write-a-thon. I'd be wiped out it for a week after. If I ever hear you say you're going to do one again, don't worry, I'll tell you it's a crazy idea! Still, congrats on getting 15k done!
Thank you! I'm already thinking of doing one for NaNo so maybe I need to make peace with the fact that I'm just insane hahaha.
Did anyone else notice how much different her voice was while talking to the camera rather than talking to the drive in person??? I totally thought it was someone else XD
Late reply ik
Everyone has a customer service voice (also known as mom voice), my mom is a whole different person on the phone or in drive-thrus lmao
@@anookishexception7234 good job !! i know im late lololol
I'm currently writing a murder mystery/history/romance book right now and I am loving it! I am 70K in after just two weeks. I wish I could do a 24 Hour Write A Thon but I get too distracted by all of the author tube videos
Abagail Grace OML that’s a LOT of words in 2 weeks
Can i just say you're living my dream life. ❤️ Caffeine ,writing, dogs, and running. I can't wait to have this life. I don't have a laptop though.
Im doing one of these after next week, during my summer vacation in order to finish on time for Pitch Wars. Can’t wait to look like a lunatic😂
Drinking rum soaked gummy bears in Champaign at half three in the morning, that's when you know your life is going in the right direction.
I'm so happy I found this channel. Kate, you're adorable and I love your laugh.
I just want to say that this video made me obsessed with mochi ice cream for like two weeks! XD
I have ptsd with that alarm ringtone
omg me too, I'm so sorry hahahah!
@@KateCavanaugh haha no apologies needed
Lol i basically do this every time i have a couple pg essay for school...im definitely not a writer. But i love watching stuff like this!!
They don't have them here T.T
Also, rum-soaked gummy bears and champagne?
I’m just wring for 3 hours but this really gave me inspiration
BAHAHA OH NO! That's hysterical. Now I'm gonna be on the lookout if I ever do this dreaded, amazing write-a-thon challenge again.
Congrats :D (Also well jealous of the scenery you get to run in)
Honey Butter Chicken Biscuit sounds like the best thing in the world 👀 plus it's just fun to say 😂
You are an inspiration! I wish I could write this much!
I can comfortably write 4,000 words per day. I could do 5,000 if I had to. Any more than that and my brain would be fried!
I occasionally switch to third person or present tense if I've been reading something in third person or present tense recently.
CONGRATS!! You’re amazing!!
Awwww, I love that Duke just wants to be near you at all times. He’s so cute my head is going to burst!
(And I love that you too have what I call “Drive-thru voice!” lol! I have the same thing, where my voice goes up an octave)
Your expression was priceless when you hit hour 11.
I love the Scooby Doo x Princess Bride close up. I have friends who would be very interested in this idea.
36:40 EMTs would so woo over dead bodies. They have weird dark humor.
Please do WRITING LIKE DAN BROWN.
Wow wow wow I've been hard on myself to start writing one of my story ideas cuz I was over thinking it thinking I was allowed to only work on one at a time. but with you're like 10 story ideas on that chart it gives me more hope slash confidence to write it all. You're awesome, keep it up
Champagne and honey buttered chicken biscuit? Um, best writing snack combo ever omfg. You are a glorious genius, Kate.
You did such a good job documenting this! The pacing was so nice. Congrats on 15k!
AWWW THANK YOU SO MUCH. I was worried about that actually! It ended up being So. Long. I hadn't realized when I was filming hahaha.
All of your effort makes me feel bad about myself. How dare you Kate...
I totally want to do this! Just... I'd like not to do it alone...lol.
I did a 36 hour one a couple years ago, but I only got up to go to the b room. The story is good, but I got stuck and still haven't went back to it.
Sounds like going forward, you need to write for 24 hours, take 48 off, then repeat. Forever.
i had to press pause so that you can take a rest
Another day, another writing vlog... and yet the first thing I notice is that you are wearing the exact same friggin's socks I have. Power to you for weathering another writing experiment and for cool looking socks! ^_^
This was such a fun video! Good for you for doing this and congrats on the 15k. I think I would try this, but maybe start with a 15-hour one first? And.. I totally switch tenses in my novel too 🙃
omg half my heart playing in the background for a bit i do that to!!
I was surprised in the beginning of this video just because I have the SAME ALARM SOUND! I thought something was wrong for a moment^^
After watching a few of your videos now I want to write soooo bad on one of my stories! Hopefully tomorrow, lol.. but also Im super curious about yours! It'd be cool to read some of your stuff. 😍 enjoying your videos so much, been binge watching. Lol.
Does anyone else only type with their pointer fingers? I wish I could type normally
Bahaha, my brother does! We had a typing speed contest a few months ago and he was still surprisingly quick even with his 2 finger method!
@@KateCavanaugh lol yeah I'm pretty fast too... in fact I'm typing this response with two fingers right now XD
I only use two finger typing too... I never learned the proper method. I can still type pretty fast though
Girl, you're mad! In my current state as a writer, I wouldn't do this. I mean, I can't even complete a NaNoWriMo project, let alone write 15,000+ words in 24 hours.
24 hr write-a-thon, you mean NaNoDayMo? ;) 15k in one day is nothing to sneeze at though! Good job!
I think I'd actually die before I ever got close to NaNoDayMo!! Hour 12 and I'd just fall off the chair.
So cute pup!!!!!!!!!!
This is the first video I’ve seen of you and I absolutely love you. I’m definitely subscribing.
AWWW thanks so much! While I think my ~general spirit~ is the same in my other videos, the level of delirium might not match this one bahaha.
Part of me thinks I’d love to do something like this - although maybe 12 hours! - but I don’t know if I’d be able to! Maybe if I could find someone to do it with me
I always wanted (wanted?) to do something like this. Also I died when you said “I’m gonna start drinking” 😂😂
2089 sounds like such a great idea! I would totally read that :D
I'm totally planning on doing one of these, maybe more lol. I am curious to see how I would do and what my work would look like the next day
A shudder when your alarm went off. I hate that sound haha.
okay all I an think about in this video is that one commercial while you were watching tv that just said "mesothelioma"
😂😂
I am planning to do one of these and lordy I'm glad you took breaks for food and reading, otherwise I think I'd die XD
I cannot believe that you left it at 15,099 words although it was really impressive
I've been wanting to try this for SO LONG !! Now I'm going to have to schedule it asap!! hahahah
AHHH CONGRATS!!! :)
I love your videos! Have a great day!
Once, I have written 10,000 words in 1 day but, never reached 15,000.
I keep coming back to these challenge videos because I want to do them but UGH I gotta get my work schedule to cooperate.
i wanna write like you, but its so hard. wkwkwkkwkw unti now i still write chapter 19😂😂😂
You have the same alarm as me. I was freaked out when it turned on.
Bahaha, I have that same problem when other people have that alarm! I get like second-hand anxious that it's time for ME to wake-up (even if I'm already awake haha).
YOUR FACE AT THE END LOOKED LIKE IT WAS GONNA MURDER US IF WE EVER SUGGESTED THIS AGAIN
Hello, me again. Watching videos out of order. I am in TN. If you come to Nashville, please do a meet up of some kind! Or better, if you do a book tour when you get Murder Mystery Tennessee published.
Ohmygosh, my goal is still to make it to Nashville sometime! I'll for sure let you know when that happens. :)
I don't drink, but if I did I would totally put gummy bears in it. That's amazing.
Bahaha thank you! :) If I was more into sodas, I'd totally put them in something like a Sprite or 7-Up too.
woo good job!! I should really try to do something like this because i need discipline when it comes to my writing hahaha
YES GIVE IT A TRY! You never know what it could kick-start and it's definitely a fun (albeit ridiculous) challenge regardless. No downside other than the loss of sleep and sanity hahaha (but that's all temporary anyways!).
Kate Cavanaugh hahaha who needs sleep right haha
Oh god, now I have to try this XD I'm competitive; I wanna see if I can beat your word count
