Great video to see the differences. Sand mode locks the Haldex into 50:50, precharges the gearbox and gives you maximum throttle response. I've heard that some Land Rover Experience people call it "Launch Control" and i can see why. Just so you are aware, as i didn't here it mentioned. HDC can be turned on in any mode, and with the slipperier stuff, turning DSC off can help. When stuck in mud, it appears that sand mode with DSC off is the way to go.
So great to see a white FL2 in action. We bought a new nicely spec’d one in 2014 and I am still checking the adverts to see if any similar one popsup. The haldex was replaced under warranty. The FL2 was more capable than we were and we learned that during LR experience courses.
@@JayTeeCars Really shockingly good. They're so light, and so well-balanced. If they only had a bit more ground clearance they'd be an absolute weapon off road.
I've had 2 Freelander 2's. My wife has owned her 2013 HSE SD4 since 2016 and my daughter has just bought an 08 HSE TD4 with 91K on the clock. Looks and drives like new. These cars are totally bullet proof and will never let you down. Fantastic vehicles. I have owned a 2019MY RR Evoque D180s from new. 111600 on the clock. Zero issues. Do not believe the armchair LR haters. They are wrong.
Very informative, thanks for posting. I have a 64 plate Freelander 2 and after 7 years still wasn’t sure what difference each mode made. I mainly use it as a tow vehicle on grass. Never had an issue though but now I know what best mode to use if I do!
Hi Jay. Great video. Looking to buy a 2010/11 fl2 but seen a few reviews on the haldex not being serviced and causing issues. Honest john said there were massive issues. Any pointers on checking and would you recommend a freelander 2 sd4. Regards. John.
If the Haldex has not been properly serviced as most Land Rover dealers fail to do, they can fail and need replacing. There are OE parts out there so it won't cost a fortune and I've had mine done, which was well worth the money.
Hi, thanks for the comment, we have done videos on our old discovery 3 which is very similar to the discovery 4 in terrain response modes. ua-cam.com/video/jeEG4EO_kYg/v-deo.html
all these modes are crap learn to drive properly in the conditions low revs super low gear no wheelspin wheel spin is not traction tourque and not speed

Love your videos Jay Tee! I own an 2005 LR3 and have modeled some of my modifications after your old LR3. God bless!
That is awesome!
Mud tyres would go a long way trying to get up those rutts - nice video showing what the TRS actually does

FL2 most reliable of the brand.
I haven't heard the haldex is a real problem.
