There are very many in the West, especially in the USA, who maintain that Soviets, Russians do not appreciate role of the USA and UK in WWII, that Soviets Russians do value enough Lend Lease. Listen to Putin's speech, in the very beginning he thanks Allies and their help to the Soviet Union. In general, after living in the West for most of my life I finally realized that even relatively educated Americans have a very narrow view even about WWII and role of the Soviet Union.

This is something I can empathise with. Most of the people around me also always harbour deep and inexplicable prejudice and arrogance or even hatred towards people or things they have never seen or touched, which seems to be a kind of blind xenophobia. Therefore, I would prefer to communicate with people all over the world through the Internet (or better yet, in person if possible) and experience the beauty of the world.

Because one country didn't lose 27 million people. The USSR lost 27 million people. Russia was part of the USSR and so was Ukraine (including others). Ukraine was completely occupied for a long duration of the war and suffered immense civilian and military casualties. Proportionally even worse than the Russian population.

We cant forget the huge percentages of people in other soviet republics that died. Only 13% of the USSRS Russians died in ww2 while the remaining 87% were other ethnicities like Ukrainians and Belarusians. It was not the Russian federation that beat the Germans in a costly war it was the united soviet socialist republics.
Putin has never talked about Russia. He always noted in his speech all the peoples of the USSR and, of course, the contribution of the allies to the common victory. If you bothered to listen to what Putin says, you would know this nuance.
