Karan Thapar put the fear of the devil (journalists) in modi. No wonder modi rarely meets the media one to one on an open interview platform.
We need Karan to educate young journalists while on their way to becoming good journalists. The issue now is the growing distance between righteous journalism and the institution called Indian PM.

In my opinion, Big shot elite journalists, who communicate in English are still safe as compared to those who are reporting at ground level. Ravish was targeted because his reach is wider than Karan Thapar, being a Hindi speaker. And many journalists who are working at ground level are targeted because they raise something which directly challenges what RSS/ BJP are doing. I may be wrong, but i think that's one of the reasons.

I always see Mr.karan Thapar historical interview. Atleast there is a man who can shut the mouth.
The only honest journalist who didn't ask Mr.Modi about mangoes and playing with crocodiles etc. He pinned him like no one ever did. Karan is the icon of media integrity in an age where journalists have sold themselves to those in power so that they can even walk out of jail just like that.
Media is sold to politicians even in 1950s. Nehru's life style was covered very beautifully then. THE HINDU almost influenced to become RECOMMENDED newspaper for UPSC aspirants. Lutyens Delhi journalists have been taken care of by UPA govt in terms money and kind so that those KHAN MARKET journalists will remain favorable to them . HONESTY and journalism does not gel well . There is nothing called HONEST JOURNALISM it is OXYMORON.

Karan Thapar is "The Best" interviewer of our generation. His questions were always very apt, relevant and straight forward to the topic and also his preparation shows immense study he does before going for an interview. That home work clearly shows up in his episode and gives adrenaline to the brain and ignite the thinking process in audience mind. I'd love to see more interviews coming up from Karan Thapar. More importantly, he should be given a key portfolio in the administrative arm of TV and Media broadcasting for the betterment and transparency of the Print/Digital media.

Emergency was gross wrong doing on people of India But her reelectiona and becoming once again PM of India was like Raavan coming to Ayodya and taking Sita for the second time. India Gandhi would have been major failure in Internet era where each and every word is scrutinized by lat person on the road. याद है 13 अप्रैल 1919 को भारतीय इतिहास का सबसे जघन्य नरसंहार अमृतसर के जलियांवाला बाग। लेकिन पंजाब के तत्कालीन गवर्नर सर माइकेल ओ डॉयर ने जलियांवाला बाग नरसंहार के मुख्य अपराधी हत्यारे रिनॉल्ड डॉयर द्वारा सैकड़ों निहत्थे भारतीयों को गोलियों से भूनकर मौत के घाट उतार देने की राक्षसी कार्रवाई का खुलकर समर्थन किया और उसके खिलाफ कार्रवाई करने के बजाय उस हत्यारे का खुलकर बचाव किया था।
पंजाब के तत्कालीन गवर्नर सर माइकेल ओ डॉयर के इस कुकर्म के लिए 1920 में लाहौर के लाला, "दीवान बहादुर कुंजबिहारी थापर" के नेतृत्व में तत्कालीन पंजाब के 3 अन्य व्यापारियों (उमर हयात खान, चौधरी गज्जन सिंह और राय बहादुर लाल चंद) ने अपने पास से 1.75 लाख रूपये इक्ट्ठा कर के सर माइकेल ओ डॉयर को प्रदान कर उसे सम्मानित और पुरस्कृत किया था। उल्लेख जरूरी है कि उस समय स्वर्ण का मूल्य लगभग 18.50 रुपये प्रति दस ग्राम था। अर्थात उस समय 1.75 लाख रुपए में लगभग 95 किलो सोना खरीदा जा सकता था। अतः आप स्वयं अनुमान लगा सकते हैं कि 1920 में दीवान कुंजबिहारी थापर के नेतृत्व में तत्कालीन पंजाब के 3 अन्य व्यापारियों ने माइकेल ओ डॉयर को उसके भारत विरोधी कुकर्म के लिए कितनी बड़ी रकम देकर पुरस्कृत और सम्मानित किया था। इसके जवाब में ब्रिटिश हुक्मरानों ने 1920 में ही दीवान बहादुर लाला कुंज बिहारी लाल थापर को "मोस्ट एक्सीलेंस ऑर्डर ऑफ ब्रिटिश एम्पायर" सम्मान देकर सम्मानित किया था। दीवान बहादुर की उपाधि भी उसे ब्रिटिश हुक्मरानों ने ही दी थी। अब आप स्वयं तय करिये कि लाला दीवान बहादुर कुंजबिहारी थापर एक देशभक्त था या अंग्रेजों का दलाल, गद्दार था.?
यह तो था फ्लैशबैक...आगे की स्टोरी का मर्म आप समझे...
लाहौर का वह लाला "दीवान बहादुर कुंज बिहारी थापर" भारत में ब्रिटिश सरकार का कमीशन एजेंट था। आम आदमी की सामान्य भाषा में कहा जाए तो वो ब्रिटिश सरकार की दलाली का धंधा करता था। 1936 में इसने अपने लड़के प्राणनाथ की शादी जिस बिमला बशीराम सहगल से की थी उस बिमला बशीराम सहगल के भाई गौतम सहगल से 1944 में जवाहरलाल नेहरू ने अपनी सगी भांजी नयनतारा की शादी कर दी थी। यह वही नयनतारा सहगल है जिसने भारत में असहिष्णुता बहुत बढ़ जाने का राग अलापते हुए कुछ वर्ष पूर्व एवार्ड वापसी के कांग्रेसी गोरखधंधे की शुरुआत की थी। इसके अलावा लंबे समय से जब तब लेख लिखकर यह भरम फैलाती रही है कि वीर सावरकर आदि अंग्रेजों के एजेंट थे।
इस रिश्तेदारी का एक साइड इफेक्ट यह भी हुआ था कि दीवान बहादुर कुंजबिहारी थापर के पुत्र प्राणनाथ थापर को जवाहरलाल नेहरू ने आज़ाद भारत में भारतीय सेना का सेनाध्यक्ष (आर्मी चीफ) नियुक्त किया था। इसी प्राणनाथ थापर के कार्यकाल में भारतीय सेना 1962 में चीन से पराजित हुई थी। उस युद्ध में हुईं भयंकर रणनीतिक-सामरिक चूकों और भूलों के परिणामस्वरूप केवल देश ही नहीं पूरी दुनिया में हुई थू थू के बाद अत्यन्त अपमानजनक परिस्थितियों में प्राणनाथ थापर को आर्मी चीफ का पद छोड़ना पड़ा था।
इस रोचक रोमांचक किन्तु अत्यन्त शर्मनाक कहानी का दूसरा महत्वपूर्ण पात्र हैं करण थापर नाम का पत्रकार जो उस दीवान बहादुर लाला कुंजबिहारी थापर का पौत्र और प्राणनाथ थापर का पुत्र है।
नेहरू खानदान से अपनी इस रिश्तेदारी के कारण दिल्ली के लुटियनिया मीडिया दरबार का बेताज बादशाह रहा है करण थापर। आरएसएस और सावरकर को अंग्रेज परस्त सिद्ध करने के अभियान का सबसे बड़ा झंडाबरदार भी है करण थापर। इसके साथ अपने इंटरव्यू में केवल साढ़े तीन मिनट बाद गुजरात के मुख्यमंत्री के रूप में नरेन्द्र मोदी ने इंटरव्यू रोक कर इसको बाहर का रास्ता दिखा दिया था।
उस इंटरव्यू की वो तीन मिनट की फुटेज को करण थापर वर्षों तक इस तरह प्रस्तुत करता रहा मानो मोदी उस के सवालों से डर गए थे। लेकिन सच यह था कि मोदी ने उसकी धूर्तता को बहुत बेआबरू कर के खदेड़ने में कोई हिचक नहीं दिखाई थी।
करण थापर आजकल कपिल सिब्बल के गुमनाम चल रहे न्यूजचैनल का कामधाम बरखा दत्त के साथ देख रहा है, अपने असफल हो चुके एजेंडे के मुर्दे में प्राण फूंकने के जुगाड़ में जुटा हुआ है।
लेकिन सोशलमीडिया की सुनामी में बहुत बुरी मौत मर चुकी इसकी एजेंडेबाज पत्रकारिता अब ज़िंदा नहीं होगी। क्योंकि मरे हुए लोग कभी ज़िंदा नहीं होते। साभार
