Fantastic video. Lovely cold weather. Great to see real life temperature corrected altitudes being discussed and implemented. The Captain made some real smooth inputs to the control column and wheel. Thanks.
Just fabulous video. Lovely snowy landscape. Excellent control and approach and perfect touchdown. Very professional Captain and FO.. Safe and happy landings. God bless !
This is such a great download. Love the new A350-1000 but, this one is interesting in it's own way. These pilots flying skills , navigation and gut instincts are amazing. Get this one or the Air Iceland Dash-8 video if you like these kinds of videos. Get both, I did :)
Thank you very much Reno. Indeed we don't sell a lot of smaller airplane films however we find we have to do them anyway because we're able to fly to some areas in the world that are great and sometimes beautiful too. Thank you again!

Awesome video, I love it. It has great pilots and an amazing plane. I enjoy listening to and watching these pilots. Awesome takeoff and landings that sounds amazing. I love the snowy terrain and landscape; it's beautiful. Greenland overall is beautiful; I don't think I could live there, but I would love to visit if I could.
Beautiful landings, very smooth control, perhaps due to the fine coordination required to fly helicopters as the captain has done for much of her career, very impressed!
Once - 15-20 years ago - I was to sail a boat to Nuuk from the fjord. Laila (the captain in this film) flew me up to it in a AS350 helicopter. Before she flew home again she slinged some crates from land to the boat. I can testify that she is indeed extremely capable to fly those machines!
Captain only landings and take offs? I saw that the captain did both the landings and take offs and the first officer just did most everything else are the landings and take offs rated for captains only? If not I would have thought they would have taken turns.
Folks at Just Planes. Guys you need to drop the White Balance on your Camera or use a Filter. Could make out very little landscape in those white out conditions beyond black dots.
There was nothing to see on that flight. Between the clouds and just snow... Below are 2 other videos from that film in which you can see some of the landscapes : ua-cam.com/video/pVZjYJDMwtg/v-deo.html ua-cam.com/video/wYMFVjG8mHQ/v-deo.html
You are a really good pilot to fly in the weather that you fly in. How many landings and departures in any given day? By the way, I am a pilot (single engine -instrument rated w/ 3600 hours).
Just Planes I'm kind of new at watching these cockpit videos so please help me with something. What are those wheels that are painted black and white at the knees of the pilot and co-pilot. Thank you!!

The first ding dong is the cabin crew calling the flight deck on the intercom. You can hear the first officer answering immediately. The second ding is the captain turning of the “fasten seatbelt” sign and the sound is heard throughout the cabin.
A Dash-8 in that cold climate? No thanks. However it is nice to see a good old fashioned analog flight deck. Not sure it’s the best way to go in that flying environment, but at least we know those pilots are real pilots and not computer programmers.
@@Haywood-Jablomie most of the airports are 799 meters, so propeller aircraft are very suitable here in Greenland for maximize performance versus takeoff weight
@@LoStudio90 Oh I totally understand that, I personally don't like flying in that climate . I fly for Air Canada Rouge and I fly a Dash 8 Q 400 but I'm definitely not a fan of flying to the slightly northern areas in Canada whenever it's needed. It's a personal preference I guess. 🙂
@@dalemartell8639 Have you ever flown in heavy icing conditions? It's not fun. I'm not worried about cold... That's not the issue. It doesn't matter how it was designed, I've been flying the dash 8 for nearly 6 years. As I said, it may just be a personal preference based on experience . I personally don't like flying in those environments , past experiences can make it very uncomfortable.
@@1486230 Not at all. C172 has single engine so if you have engine failure during takeoff roll you'll not be able to climb with no engine. Any aircraft that passed the test of takeoff and climb with single engine operation with airplane with more than 2 engines has V1 speed. V1 speed simply is the speed which (if you are at or higher than V1) you should continue the takeoff roll and lift off as well. If failure/abnormalities occurs before V1 you have the ability to slow down the airplane and goes to a full stop safely.
You are referring to Kangerlussuaq, our major airport hub due to its long runway. The runway is around 2800 meters. The runways in the cities are only 950 meters hence the use of the DASH-8. Air Greenland has a large A330 jet that services the route Kangerlussuaq-Copenhagen. Nuuk, the capital city of Greenland (population 18.500) is a 45 minute flight south of Kangerlussuaq. To go to Europe (Copenhagen) we have to fly via Kangerlussuaq and the change to the larger aircraft. Another option is Aur Iceland’s DASH-8 to Reykjavik and then catch an Iceland Air flight to Copenhagen. However, due to covid we are on a national lockdown. There are no regular commercial flights currently to and from Greenland. We do have mail and cargo service and the government decides if your reason to travel has merit. This lockdown will continue until the end of February, but probably longer.
@@julianneheindorf5757 Thank you Julianne. I'm assuming that many of the hotel staff have been laid off as a result of travel restrictions. I admire anyone who can live on a daily basis in such extreme climatic conditions; it's a little too harsh for my old bones! All the best for 2021.
