Just a tip... the speed that you move around in the strategic map determines how fast you are moving when you load into a battle. If you are moving at fast speed in the strategic map then you will be moving at around 26knts when the battle loads, if you are moving slower then you'll start the battle at around 5 or 10 knts. Usually at the faster speeds you will have already been detected by your target hence the reason why they always seem to have helos already looking for you and are already actively pinging their sonar. At the slower speed you have the advantage because in most cases you will not have been detected yet.
if your moving faster on the map you are also deeper usually around 600ft and if your going slow you will be around 150ft
Usually yes but in most cases when you enter the scenario at the faster speed you are already detected, and they area already deploying against you.

Was about to say the same thing cause Jingles does that to create a burst of bubbles thing were the bubbles would occasionally cause the torps to detonate prematurely.
he means moving to combat, not creating a knuckle during combat
Jive Turkey explains this game pretty well since he served as a sonar operator back in his Navy days.
Jingles does also mention him and his service but he as well was in the navy like I was so he can give the same sort of info

When you are moving around on the map, you need to right click instead of left click, because it will move you at quiet speeds instead of full speed. Use left click to approach area, and when you see bad guys, right click to approach them.
We need more of this highly entertaining haha
If you click on the reactor it will repair it faster and drain the flooding

Yo Devil, I actually kinda like this series. I know it seems boring on your end, but I like it. I sort of half watch these episodes while doing something else, just listening to the sonar noises, and refocusing when it sounds like something cool is happening. I say you should keep doing them.
If you hit Close To instead you load in doing 5-7kn instead of flank speed.
I was doing a mission where I was supposed to destroy tankers and tenders going to a main force, and when I engaged them they had a Kiev carrier I was able to destroy. Definitely my most satisfying target yet.

Devil, when in map view, how fast is your sub moving on the map is how fast the sub is moving when you load in the game. If you track a fleet and now its course you can stop your sub and engage them when the fleet makes contact on that course. Doing this your speed is only 5kt
You probably have to maneuver more aggressively to escape torpedoes- try to get out of the depth range that the torpedo is circling in
Devil if you hold down the right mouse button instead of the left one before you engage, you'll sail at 10kts instead of 20kts so you won't be automatically detected the moment battle starts.

Hey devildog a good way to doge torpedoes is making what i think they call a knot. its when a fast hard maneuvering sub creates bubbles in the water from turning from left to right (learned from the mighty jingles)

I couldn't imagine being in a submarine and getting hit by a torpedo oh the terror!!!
I've heard that if hit at the right depth the air in the sub catches fire.
none of your business I would hope so!! I remember reading about the Russian sub that sank in 2000 "The Kirsk" saying most of the crew died instantly but 23 survived the first 2 blasts and ended up dying from being burned to death and suffocation after several hours of it sinking. I would rather of died instantly than being trapped for several hours knowing I was going to die a horrible death.
@Bhamofficer328 It definitely can end terribly like that, but if a sub is hit by a torpedo, it generally will break up and flood killing the crew instantly. However, that is largely hypothetical, as no subs have ever been hit by enemy torpedoes in the modern day. However, Russian subs are tougher so the chance of short term survival is higher.
none of your business flooding wouldn't kill the men quickly. if my ems knowledge is correct it takes a little longer to drown in salt water, also even if you get revived from a salt water drowning there is secondary drowning that can occur later on due to salt crystals remaining in your lungs that pull blood from your veins into your lungs thus re-drowning you but in your own blood this time.
When you get encounters at 25 knots you're going to start with the enemy knowing pretty well where you are. Gotta creep around more. Also poking your head up paints you on surface radar, which is haw that first set of rocket deployed torps got lobbed at you.
Devil if your traveling fast when your in the map and engage it starts you out at that speed

You need to click the title/name of the component flooded to vent water.
Once you fire harpoons they know exactly where you are. No need for silent running after that. You need to use speed to get as far from the launch position as possible.
devil...when U go to a combat go with right mouse button becouse then U will enter battle with half speed

if you don't want them to know that you are already there , you need to approach silent on the map , not full speed
You know that you can go slower when you are on the map, the speed that you are going on thr map,is going to be the same speed that you are going to enter in the battle.

Naval noob here, how does one "abandon ship/sub" when your at the bottom of the ocean?
I know old school they would put on scuba gear and climb out through the torpedo tubes. The had cables with large cork ends to float to the top and guide them.
Below 1000 feet though? You don't. Take a nap. Don't wake up. It's best that way.
If a sub is sunk in deep waters (over 1000 ft), they most likely have to use special rescue chambers that can be lowered to the sub and attached to a hatch on the sub. The equipment is not widely available. The Russian government got a lot of heat after the Kursk disaster for refusing to accept this kind of equipment from the west for some time after the explosion. Since it is unknown how long the surviving 23 crew lasted for, it is possible that this equipment could have rescued them. It is a difficult and time consuming operation. In a time of war like projected in this game, the chance of a rescue party coming out to save you is close to 0, it just becomes one giant metal coffin.
Not to mention the need to find the sub in the first place, which if you're below 1000 ft, means a lot of ground (or sea I guess) makes your chances of even being found pretty grim. This is mostly for subs that are actually operating and not being escorted/handled like the USS Thresher.

i think the devs need to deal with the whole aircraft being super op thing because every video i see its not subs or ships that kill its jets or helis that seemingly instantly know your position at all times even when a ultra quiet and going deep its stupid
That's because in real life its the ASW aircraft that are the more dangerous threat because they can work in conjunction to triangulate and narrow down where a submarine is relatively quickly. Once a sub is detected and localized by air assets it is nearly impossible for it to get away.
Are only submarines playable in this game?

Not all ship's are designed to go one-on-one with a sub, hence why convoys and fleets from time to time travel with destroyers.
flickinggamer as a former submariner I can tell you most surface ships are sitting ducks if a sub is attacking them.
That is what they tell you to get you to go into those submerged tin cans. Why build surface ships at all if all they do is sink? The surface ships in the game don't even try to use their CIWS against the Harpoons.
Yes, they do. You can even see one of DDG's Harpoons being shot down @ 24:36.

hell DDG pulled a Anakin Skywalker when he killed the ship with its own torpedoe if you dont know what i im talking about Anakin pulled a similar trick when he was using a stealth ship to pass the blocade where admiral trench was in command of the enemy armada he pulled the same trick but with missile i think
