- Andrea Landi spends his days behind the wheel of an all-wheel-drive Scania G 500 XT, driving up and down the steep gravel roads to and from the marble quarries in Carrara, Italy.
Carrara is well known for the quality of its marble, which has been a source of wealth since the Roman era. Though the work has become considerably safer in recent decades, truck drivers like Andrea still rely on considerable experience, tough equipment and knowledge passed down through the generations.
Never a boring day at his job !
Scania has beautiful trucks! Always driven Longhood 379s and 389 Pete's but this truck is awesome!

That’s the road my Dad walked to school on, carrying those marble blocks on his back.
Same as my father, but what I can’t figure out is how it was uphill both ways.

@@MFKR696 Scania still offers manual gearbox, also DAF, MB Arocs and MAN is avalible with manual gearbox! Volvos last gear was 2018! They're losing sales now because of that! We bougt 2 new manual Scanias instead of volvo!

Certo c'è da pensare al papà e soprattutto al nonno di Andrea......scendevano e risalivano con mezzi sicuramente meno sicuri.... per quanto oggi affascinanti in quanto storici.....Fiat-Iveco 330/35 , Fiat-Iveco 300 PC , Fiat 697NP , Fiat 693N.....ed altri a tecnologia 0.
Il mezzo che ti ha piantato non l'hai menzionato..... forse solo problema di scarsa manutenzione o era proprio inaffidabile?

Si erano delle baracche quei mezzi
Scusa se contraddico, erano baracche confrontati a quelli di adesso, ma a quei tempi c'erano quelli. Vedere girare il volante con una mano è ovviamente tecnologia, ma ai tempi del fiat 300 anche con altre marche di camion ti attaccavi al volante con quattro braccia (averle avute!). Con i mezzi attuali adesso sterzi le ruote anche se piantate nella ghiaia, quando c'era solo il 300 e marche simili ci si rompeva la schiena. Lo sanno poi tutti che scania è la rolls-royce dei camion.👍

Jangan samakan dengan jalan raya. Muatan batu marmer 24 ton naik turun di medan pegunungan dengan jalan sempit gravel itu dah berat banget.
