- Potentially selling my Savage, so I thought I'd give it a look over and quick ride. Check out the "neighbor hater" SuperTrapp exhaust I have on it.

Had a Suzuki 'Savage' and wow do I regret selling it! It was light, 'flickable', and had torque that would pull teeth from an elephant. Pulled up to a traffic light one day and a guy in a pickup truck pulled up beside me. While we waited for the light to change, he hollered out his window at me while holding a thumbs up, 'Man, I had one those things. NOTHING could beat it across an intersection!' And, that was so true. 'One lungers' (aka 'thumpers') max their torque curve right off the line .. like a tractor. But for those first few seconds (racing at a traffic light) nothing, and I do mean nothing, is as fast. Once across the intersection and the torque curve peaked, they run out of oomph. But for those firts few seconds, they own the street. I miss my Savage a lot, and for the little I paid for it, I was a fool to sell it. Nothing like a 'Savage', and say that with love.

I had a little single cylinder GZ250 that I sold a few years ago... Got 75mpg, I rode it every where. Miss that little bike.
@451dskots88 I totally get it man. My Harley is a lot more fierce, but doesn't get half the gas mileage so stopping at gas stations constantly sucks haha. I'm holding on to mine until I get a rear tire for it or sell it. Much rather keep it. Thanks for stopping by, hope you stick around!
@@451dskots88 I had one of those for awhile. Bought it as a project. It was nearly new. Really enjoyed it around town but I lived 30 miles from work. Wasn't enough power against a head wind.

I rode my Savage on a 3000 mile trip this summer & had a gas of a time.
Less than 100 miles of the trip was on the interstate.
Never had one issue.
I have five older brothers and one of them had a vintage Harley. Can't remember the model number. But it was rigged to shift from behind the seat (?!). I'd see him fly up the street and then reach back to shift the gears. *Yikes!* Another brother had an old Harley and installed a western riding saddle on it. We rode that thing together from Ohio to Gatlinburg just for the heck of it. I could hardly walk after that trip!!! LOL That was many years ago, but what memories. People would beep at us on the highway because of that funky saddle. Good times. 🙂 Your bikes are much more civilized! Nice motors, they purr very smoothly. Thanks for the vid!! ✌
Love those stories and memories. You have some cool brothers, obviously. I'm dieing to take my little sis out. I take my son and he loves it. He reminds me of stuff we did together when he was 5 and I don't know how he remembers all of it. When he doesn't have school and it's nice out, he always asks "are we going on a cruise today dad"? Memories you can never forget. Thanks for sharing!

I have the same Savage 650 1998 since 2002... 185 thousand kilometers through Brazil and the south of South America...
Yeah they are fun bikes for sure. I don't know how many miles I put on mine before I got my Harley. I had the engine bored out and a bigger piston put in, but it still wasn't helping very much with people doing 85 on the highway. Mine is currently out of commission, but I can't wait to get back on it again. Thanks for your time, hope you stick around
One last thing, if you ever have to push start any thumper...jump it while in 1st, not second, and use the starter button as you release the clutch to decompress the cylinder, or you'll just be skidding the back tire....yes, even if the battery is dead, should be enough zap left to unlock it enough for it to kick over.

Got my 06 for 100.00 dollars been setting under a tree cleaned up very nice all unmolested stock. Needed a battery
picking up a 2015 in the spring. paid and all been thinking about it everyday.

Sweet bikes, man! If your buddy wants to quiet that Suzuki down a bit, he can repack the muffler with exhaust fiberglass packing. It will quiet it down, and improve the tone of the exhaust sound a bit. Supertrapps can also be tuned by varying the number of discs in the exhaust, so that’s a nice upgrade.
Thank you brother! I actually ended up keeping it for the time being. And you obviously know what you are talking about. I've tried the tone of each disc, and it's very interesting at how much it can change with very little effort. I kind of miss being able to ride it at night without being pulled over, so I may actually get it plugged again. Lol. I really appreciate your time!
There's a light when leaving Cocoa Beach that won't turn for bikes, it's a real pain the ass, so I just make a right, then another right, hard to believe these lights are still around. You're going to miss that bike ^^ There's no way I'm getting rid of mine, I've been through a dozen bikes, from Intruder 1400's, to Yamaha R6's, and never enjoyed a bike more than I do my S40(my first bike was a Honda XL250R, so maybe that one, I mean who can't love their first bike ^^), I've had mine at a constant 85 mph on beach rides with very little problems, after some carb work, the right pipe, and minor head work, it will hit 100 in a draft, but it's air cooled, so it's not a great idea. It's not fun to ride at those speeds on it, but it will, this is definitely the most fun from 0-70 through the hills, or twisty roads, yeah, just try to keep up! The only thing this bike is great at, is good feels, it's stress free therapy that gets over 50mpg, good stuff.

Fuel is pretty good on it, usually about 3 hours of riding on a full tank. It's ok on the highway. No problem keeping up with traffic, but it's screaming at 85 mph. Very cheap to fix if something goes wrong also.
Harleys are fun machines, a bit like a motorbike only slower and twice the weight. 😜
They definitely are fun. So many ways to customize and be different than everyone else.
At 60 that's not screaming. That's it's sweet spot.
Lol for sure... I think I've pushed it to about 85/90 when it topped out. I could get to maybe 100, if I was on a steep downhill slope hahaha.
Recently picked up a 2015 for cheap with 525 miles. I really love it because with age and injury I need a light bike to keep riding. I don't ride on the freeway much but sometimes it is necessary where I live plus we have a Suzuki dealer nearby. The belt drive was huge selling point for me. Mine backfires a bit on deceleration, how did you cure that? Your bike runs sweet! Subbed!
Awesome brother! And that is extremely low mileage. I only buy stuff that is belt driven now, It's just so much less to worry about. A quick hack, if you can get at it, is to adjust the mixture screw to run richer. Doesn't stop it backfiring completely but sure helps a lot.
@user-ol6zp4fz3e I love the sound of backfire ironically lol. I tried to keep everything on this original so it's definitely odd feeling and hearing the sounds with the bushings removed and an aftermarket part installed. Before I put money into it, it literally sounded like a lawn mower. It's less than half the power of my Harley so I guess that makes sense haha. Hope you stick around
So that was the stock muffler with the guts took out? I have one and have been thinking about doing that ti mine.
No it's an aftermarket exhaust. But if you're looking for a better sound, gutting yours out is the best and cheapest bet

I've still got it and decided to hold off on selling it. They are definitely fun! If you are intending on keeping yours for a while, the Super Trapp exhaust system is a phenomenal buy. Look it up if you get time. But honestly if you're trying to save money, just gutting the stock exhaust will definitely enhance the sound. Stay safe my friend!

I actually still have it, and I put on a Super Trapp exhaust on it. When you get this year original, it sounds kind of like a lawn mower and that's not my style lol. The exhaust isn't all that expensive and pretty easy to work with. Extremely reliable also. I appreciate your time and hope you stick around.

Hello my friend, sorry for the late response. I am actually going to sell it because I moved and don't have the space for it any longer. But it now has a flat tire on the back and the carburetor is probably clogged because it hasn't run in a couple months. I do love it though, it was my daily driver for quite a while.
It’s an OHC four-valve engine, so it can really rev with a less restrictive exhaust and a re-jet. Noise is the price you pay, though. It’s very difficult to effectively muffle a big single. The stock exhaust weighs about 35 lbs. a Supertrapp with the end cap removed is just an open pipe.
Yep. I like the noise so more people know I'm around. That's why I decided not to replace the end cap.

I just bought myself a 2019 Suzuki savage LS650!! I’ve been looking for an exhaust but I’m new to everything so I don’t know where to look, and I also notice this bike isn’t very well known
Oh awesome man! If you want one of the best exhausts for it, look for a Super Trapp system. One of the easier ones to install, and you can't beat the sound. It is also adjustable so you can tweak it to exactly what you want. JP Cycles may have them, and they are a very reputable company. Good luck and stay safe! I appreciate the view and comment

Hello my friend. If you're referring to the Harley then absolutely lol, but it's a tough one talking about the Savage. I'm 6 ft and 220 lbs and it was fine, but those extra inches may pose some difficulties. It will definitely get you where you need to go, but it's so light and maneuverable that it may just become a little annoying. If it's your first bike then absolutely, but if you're used to something big like my Harley, I wouldn't suggest it. I appreciate your time, please stick around the channel! @@jusssme Ok, and really it all depends on what you are used to if anything. It's a perfect bike for someone just starting and you could adjust the shocks to make it a little taller. But if you're used to a Harley or anything like that, then I would avoid it. It's a great bike, but under certain circumstances.
As stock ? . . . no. Iˋm 5ˋ10 and sits a little crumpled up. But love the bike nevertheless.
The Suzuki is great . The Harley better . But I already own my fathers Classic Norton Tourer he baptised it . Its name is The Monster.
The Harley is definitely better in my opinion also. And that's awesome about your old man's bike, you'll appreciate it more. I've always wanted my grandfather's trike.
Supertrapp exhaust are created with a disk system the more disks the louder it is also the less back pressure super traps exhaust being tunable a lot of times you do not have to rejet the carburetor that's why they're popular he keeps saying his bike is really loud that's something he did it shouldn't be Extremely Loud I have one on my girlfriend's bike a 2015 S40 it is definitely a bike for a smaller person it is a great little bike.
Thanks for checking out the video Gene. I tried the system on every disc, and they all sounded great, but I like it a little better with it just removed. The louder the bike, the easier it is for people to know you're around. And yeah, it's pretty small for me being 6 ft and 220. After I got my Harley, I barely even touch the thing anymore lol. O that says it all I took it to my machanic that savage is a simple machine a beginners bike was it your first.
Thanks for the view and comment Susan! It is a pretty simplistic machine indeed which is exactly why I bought it. I needed something easy and cheap to fix when something failed. I've been riding almost two decades and I've only had my Savage for a few years. I needed a daily driver and it served that purpose perfectly. And the transmission is nearly bulletproof. You can use it every single day for hours and not worry too much, it's basically a small workhorse.
I`m pretty sure your 'wet fart' weighs in around 380lbs wet. 'Pop-corn farts' may vary. I just saw a Royal Enfield 350 Meteor in person, but it weighs 420lbs...I`ll take a used Savage.

Sorry my friend I don't. All the major stuff I get done, I go to a place called Cycle Tech until I get my own equipment. I looked it up, and it seems some of them go for under a hundred bucks. If you do some work, send a pic. When I bored mine out, it was at a buddies house. I intend to own everything at some point lol.

Actually we've got a local bloke here Steve at Coffs Harbour who's fantastic with that sort of thing and I'll get him to look at it, I've already spoken to him about it
You know it's good to know the person doing it instead of just getting it sent away to who knows who by some bike shop
I have a mate who restores instruments speedometers and tachometers I got him to do mine a year or two ago he's a real expert it's an honour to know him, he gave me a ride in ride out service he did the tacho one day and the speedo the next while I hung around talking with him he charged me but he wasn't too savage he gave me mates rates
People send him stuff from all over the world and he charges like a wounded animal and as soon as they get there gear and see how good this fellas work is they send back more for him to do
He recently restored/remanufactured a speedometer for a WWII Matilda Tank for a local museum, it was more like a clock the way it worked than a regular speedometer and it looked to be an impossibility, they told him if need be it didn't have to function even if it only looked correct it would do but he made this rusted piece of useless crap work and look as good as new he's a real wizard
Anyway getting back to the point when I see him and he lives hundreds of miles from me I sometime tell him about "when I restore my instruments" 🤗

That it's what Harley should be doing, cut the m8 in half, just one big cylinder engine and sell cheaper bikes as they let the sportster die and come up with the awful sportster s or nighster...
Yeah there's something about being on a thumper. Much cheaper for sure. I absolutely love my V-Twin on my Sportster, but it's obviously expensive.

Here's my dilemma folks. I have been offered an almost new condition 2019 S40 w/6000 miles for $3100...OR 2007 C50 with roughly same mileage same condition w/one small dent in tank for $2000. I almost feel like I have to buy both! They're both such a deal. Lol!! Thoughts?
Okay brother! The mileage is a tad high, but if they have any kind of record about oil changes, then yes the price is pretty solid. There is also a plug on the bottom that you should check. Some people don't replace it and it leaks a little here and there which heats up the motor to an unsafe temperature. I'm speaking more of the 2007 one. Also, haggle on the price a little and see if there is any wiggle room so you can get a fresh oil change and inspection from a trusted mechanic. Good luck and please let me know if you get them!

@@jusssme My brother, I am very sorry, I did read that wrong! That is considered the Goldilock Zone because you will definitely see around this time if something needs to be replaced, tightened or tuned up. Obviously depending on driving habits and road conditions. I would still ask that the price be lowered, especially if you're buying both! I don't remember if that year is carbureted, but if so you should let the seller know that you are buying a new carburetor and getting a tune-up. Really hope that helps you negotiate. And if you get one or both of them, they are awesome machines! I can send you a DM with links to upgrade it if you need.

LOL! Well this video is over a year old and they are still running perfectly
