My grandmother made these ALL the time. She went blind at the age of 14 due to a virus that attacked her corneal nerve. She could see shadows until I was around ten. She could cook and make buttermilk while blind. She married my grandfather at the age of 14 and gave birth to 10 children but only raised 8 to adulthood. She would make me homemade crackers and homemade tomato soup. She knew when something was at a boil by the steam on her face. Once I helped her put away dishes and being too young to know, I put somethings out of place and daddy asked me where I put them. I loved that saint! Can’t wait to see her again one day!!❤️❤️ Thanks for reminding me about her with this recipe. We all couldn’t wait to eat hers. It was her signature dish.
I’ve been making these pies for years and everybody just absolutely loves them every time I give them one of these pies. My boss at the store where I worked got tears in his eyes when I brought him a buttermilk pie and why was because his grandma used to make them for him I got tears in my eyes almost cried you should’ve seen the look on that man’s face. I’ll never forget that as long as I live this is the ultimate favorite pie southern signature
I haven't had a buttermilk pie since my grandma made one about 50 years ago. I remember it being so good. I grew up in central Texas and everyone used to make this.
I made this pie today, using organic date sugar vs. white sugar. Oh my. So good. And for me it is something I can digest. Thank you for so many recipes that are tummy-friendly. This is such fun!
That pie looks so yummy. I have never had it before. Im going to watch it again and make it soon. OMG you and Mr. Brown are the cutest. Thanks for sharing.
My mom used to make it and i remember loving it. I need to make one! Thanks for your videos. Your Interaction between you and Mr. Brown is so precious.
Love buttermilk pie , I am going to make it right now. And Saturday I made your easy Sweet potato casserole. Delicious. Thank you for all those wonderful recipes. Have a Blessed Day
I loved it when you said hillbilly creme brulee! OMG, so funny! Made my day! :) Thank you so much for sharing all of your delicious recipes! My family and I really appreciate it.
I've never heard of Buttermilk pie before. I'm like Mr Brown and love a good custardy pie. This one jumped to the top of my list of pies to bake. Thank you for sharing Mrs Brown. Blessings to you and yours.
There is a local restaurant that is not that great but people flock there, for the buttermilk pie. "We will not falter - We will not fail." Thanks for the video. God Bless Stay Safe
My mom always used the term "larapin" I made my first buttermilk pie in Home Economics class back in the 60s when I was in junior high. I still have that recipe and it has all the same ingredients as Miss Lori's, but in less quantity except for the buttermilk. My old recipe calls for blending the butter and flour in a double boiler and then adding egg yolks (no whites!) along with the sugar. Extract in my recipe is lemon! Mine started in a 450 degree oven for 10 minutes, then reducing to 350 for 25 minutes. I like my recipe, but I am certainly going to try Miss Lori's!
Somehow you read my mind! I love baking with buttermilk and now buy it from my local dairy farm! I've somehow lost several cookbooks during a recent move and wanted this recipe. Thank you and God bless you both.
Awwww Mr. Brown we love you thank you Mr. Brown 😊 ill be sure to try it looks good @ tastes good I bet thank you we look forward of seeing you videos. God bless you and Mr. Brown

Oh Miss Lori that looks so good. Ive never heard of it much less tried it but I'm going to make one. Thank you for the recipe. God bless you and Mr Brown.😀😋

I am a southern girl, born and raised. Never in all my years (and I'm not telling how many 😛) have I had a buttermilk pie. I do remember my grandma making buttermilk pies and osgood pies. My mom only ever made pecan pies. This does indeed look larupin!! Have been under the weather this past weekend with a stomach bug. As soon as I get up and around and can eat something other than jello I am giving this one a try. God bless you both! You two are so adorable. ❤
Ok, this recipe looked easy enough for even me to make and I haven't had one in forever! So, I had to give it s shot. You are absolutely right it takes 10 minutes to mix, pour and into the oven. And I am not a cook. Took almost 50 minutes to bake in my oven, but it turned out great and tasted great too. Thanks again!
Y’all are a precious couple! This is my husband’s favorite pie but his Mother always used a tsp. of lemon extract instead of vanilla and she’d put meringue on top. I’m going to make him this one. I know he will like it because he’s like Mr. Brown. He loves sweets. God bless.🍁
