Yeah, this looks like the Chinese version which has a lot of visual bugs like attack animations not being timed with the zombies taking damage, tiles off grid, and generally breaking the game. Also while the sun shroom got OVER buffed with it's 3 stages as the third stage is easy to get and easily out classes the sunflower in every way (the original would've been perfectly balanced even in day stages, 25 cost for an eventual 50 sun producer would be fine on it's own). Doom shroom seems to be worse than Cherry bomb in this game cause of the three stage gimmick. I guess the recursion is nice as you can kind of chain explosions with it, but explode-o-nut effectively takes on the function of the original doom shroom without being arbitrary about it. I'm not sure, just having it be a more expensive super cherry bomb honestly would've been fine, but it could be the horribly lagged explosion that makes it appear worse than it actually is.
I don’t think I see anyone talk about this, but at 7:06 the crater doesn’t appear underwater for budget and poor coding reasons. In the original pvz, planting doomshroom on a lily pad in the water would create a underwater crater, however it’s not the case here. Ironic how they’re bringing back nostalgic plants yet can’t remember their usage.
I am slightly disappointed about this Doom-Shroom is that they’re not ACTUAL craters it leaves behind, it’s the scorched title from the Meteor Flower’s meteor which I can only assume is because this way they didn't have to make entirely new crater sprites and could more easily recycle the scorched title, but it was part of the original function which I liked. Further the explosion doesn’t add up with the zombies dying after it. It overall just doesn't feel complete, they shouldn't taken the time to straighten it out a little more but of course they want to produce every plant as quickly as possible nowadays.

I dont mean to be rude, but there is many things wrong with this plant The artstyle, despite what most say, i dont find to be bad. The plant obviously will look different in pvz2, though one problem I have is its cap is way too angular and it looks not meanacing at all at stage 1 However the growing mechanic just doesnt seem very nice at all. At that point it is literally just a slightly leveled up primal potato mine with more range and damage, even at full growth. My main gripe is that they modified it to work different. Sure some plants like ice shroom or to an extent chomper have been modified and work fine, but with doom shroom, its supposed to be an instant use plant for the whole lawn! If they kept the range and/or the damage (maybe not both) it could be plausible but it seems they threw the whole concept out the window by giving it an extremely short reload time. Also the plant food for the final stage isnt very good as it explodes and spawns 2 small doom shrooms, which happens if its eaten at the same stage without plant food Also i know this plant isn't out yet so this is subject to change, but they need to fix all the bugs of the plant (eg: large delay for zombies dying, immortal glitched doom shroom duplicates, and causing a crater underwater despite not blowing up AND being killed at the same time) I do feel like this could be a great plant with optimisation, but at its current state it is quite glitchy and overpowered + underpowered in the wrong areas

Its mechanics also, I agree with you it looks like a primal potato mine. I would've suggest they make it same function in pvz1 but longer recharge just like thyme warp.

Kind of is a shame, after seeing how they brought back Scaredy Shroom but didn't bother to upgrade it like they did Mega Gattling pea (the most overpowered plant in the game...why does it randomly trigger plantfood on top of being effectively a maxed out pea pod when planted? XD). Scaredly shroom acting like a wall nut when hiding would've been basically what Red Stinger's gimmick is but a bit more niche. Plus Seediums are in a weird spot as they're generally unlocked when events roll around that have them that week. so by not making these plants available to farm in normal levels, they feel really underpowered.
At Least they aren't hiding the stupid bullshit they make, even embracing it making it even more spectacularly stupid, but fun.... Unless it's level design, that's just torture.
