I really love the 2008-2009 graphic. It brings back my high school days.
Ever since the brought out old school I’ve been dying for JaGeX to add the 2008 HD graphics option. They always say it would take too much time but they said putting ocrs on mobile was impossible. If they ever want their C++ client to dominate RL and HDOS they need a version of HD and the 2008 HD was the pinnacle of RuneScape graphics imo. Then they changed item models and that was the start of the end and then came eoc and another horrible graphics update…..
I remember being very into those graphics and the summoning system.

Fun fact: If you launch Runelite via the Jagex Official Launcher, it enables 2 Factor Authentication and 1 click log in. So you are extremely secure and never have to retype your email and password after logging in to the Offical Jagex Launcher.
dude turn the hd off and walk around, then put it back on. I needed this to enjoy the game, it's entirely changed my entire experience. The nostalgia of OS was amazing, but looking at the same tired old graphics almost 20 years on, it's a bit exhausting. This plugin is one of the biggest enhancements and best things this game has seen in a while, as much as I love the nostalgia of OSRS, I think it's time to get with the times and the potential of the unreal engine etc - Purely aesthetical!
Unreal engine aesthetic? What are you stupid?? Ue doesn't have one it's an engine. And one for realistic games too, NOTHING to do with how runescape is made to look
All about the preference of the player really, that's the beauty of optional HD modes. Love both 117 HD and HDOS, even though I only recently tried HDOS since it became an officially approved client

Darnic, you and one other have my undivided attention when streaming and when possible for me do so obviously. Yet, I've missed my true favorite streamer (you) because of the detail and passion towards something that repeatedly introduces nostalgia and realism the more you play. (Depending on your experience) but for the most part i believe you inspire a drive, and the voice alone, narrator of the year lol. But beyond the praise i feel like a 5 minute video does you injustice. Great content none the less. My accounts slowly turning into a questless powerhouse, i rewatch you vids to gain motivation for those quests cause once there done, I'd love to celebrate the success with a true inspiration. This era... Was awesome, I got to play some of it but I remember i couldn't play the game because the laptop I had back then had a hard time running it LOL! So thank you for doing this video because I legit had no clue that this even existed, so THANK YOU! Going to try and give it a go!! :D
Really hoping that they bring HD to mobile too. I think that would go a LONG way in recruiting new players. The HD graphic update back then was just the right amount of texture updates without fundamentally changing the iconic style.
Exponentially more pleasing to the eye and yet it was still RuneScape. I’d be surprised if they didn’t add HD options for mobile.

117 is the best for character models and animations and good for sky. HD is great for the environment. I wonder what future versions the community will come up with. By 2050 maybe we will end up with 20 different versions. Some very realistic, some will blend rs3 and rs2 graphics.
Man i love HDOS way more than runelite but HDOS is missing so many essential plug-ins. Id wish they make the important and QoL plug-ins for HDOS so i can fully switch over. I play on both clients btw.
Same, I love the HDOS but without the OP plugins (quest helper, menu entry swapper) I'll be sticking to Runelite
I don't even have the HD setting on and have low fps, lag. Does anyone know how to fix this?
I miss rs2 graphics on low end PCs back then now we need higher end just to have hd graphics in runelite why

Why would you ever game on a Laptop? Laptops are for business work, Prn, editing videos in blender I guess, photoshop, not gaming. Only peasants game on a laptop, like on my life even if you bought a $2700 gaming laptop, you're still a Noob peasant because you got ripped off.

personally, i will never use the HD plugin. it doesnt look like runescape to me, i quit back in 08 when they did the graphical update back then. it just wasnt the same to me. im just happy that this time its optional so all those people who love it can use it, but i can stay true to my own self. 07 graphic all the way baby
I think that back then resolution of monitors was a lot smaller, so the game at its original state didn't look as shit as stretched mode full screen on RuneLite, or as tiny as the original game on a 4k or 1440p monitor. GPU is the closest, and if you play the Official Client you'll see that graphically it basically just looks like GPU nowadays.

I imagine we are probably similar ages and grew up watching the same style of youtubers in which people did swear and shout a lot and it was super funny back then. 117hd plugin doesnt work well, i owned a 1080ti and now a 7800xt and it barely holds 40fps and the gpu goes to 100%, is bugged
