Great video Jeroen! I also photographed the Great Rift region last night. Looks interesting what the military did there. Luckily the sheeps and astrophotographers were left unharmed 😆
Okay okay, so we need Alyn Wallace to choose you for witns so your Mojo will be back and those clouds are lifting, right? Fair deal!! 😂 Nice vlog, thanks for sharing!
Loved this one. That part where you talked about the red lights is nice info. You demonstrate it quite efficiently too as in the scene after, you are talking to the camera with big open dilated pupils. The red light by the way still hurts your dark adaptation, but a lot less then with other colors of light.
Great work, Jeroen. The new vlogging camera has definitely raised the game! 🙌 I love the great rift - from the U.K. I think it gives the best MW shots along with the Cassiopeia / Perseus region. The core just never gets high enough round here. Subscribed to Tom’s channel too.
Thanks Paul! The Sony works like a charm! Much more surroundings and night sky visible. Although I'm still tweaking the settings and processing. On my calibrated pc screen it looks fine after an 'amp glow crop' but on my tv the purple glow seems to be enhanced again somehow. How was it on your screen? Ah well. We learn as we go! 😀
Glad to see your persistence paid off in the end Jeroen, with a very worthy WITNS image 🤞. I'm not convinced by the whole red light thing 🤔 - I've spent too long trying to remove red casts from my images when astro buddies flash their lights at inopportune moments
@@GrowPhotography same here! And I agree no light at all is better than red light ;-). Furthermore we try to watch out where we cast our lights while shooting all the time. Can imagine though that in the edit a white light is easier dealt with than a red light.
Just curious, what are the bortle classes of the locations you shot in this video? I want to get out and shoot more astro stuff, but I just feel like it won't be worth it due to the light pollution where I live.
I asked him the same thing haha. Thought he just wanted to show off at first (;-)) but it seemed to have to do with his battery status or something. My guess would be though it is a light used on bycicles also where you have to have a red rear light? Mysteries... I'll ask him again next time!
Haha, I just double checked stellarium, but it did indeed rise in the North East! 😅 For the rest, I was indeed distracted from all our joking around a bit 😝.
@@StarScaperPhotowow! I just checked on Photopills and the moon does indeed rise in the north east at times. I guess I'm only usually concerned when the full moon is rising and I don't take much notice the rest of the month. Please accept my sincere apologies.....I stand corrected 😳🥴
Good things come to those who wait! I missed the northern lights once again!
Ahh, that's too bad man. I missed the first wave of that night also because I waited too long to go out. Hopefully you get it next tims.
Wonderful video as always Jeroen. You guys certainly work very hard and the images you get are always fantastic. Sometimes a little cloud looks great.
Thanks Richard! We certainly try :-).
The image of the great rift looking through the clouds looks great
Thank you! Funny that was the image I wasn't happy with so I had to come back. But its also growing on me!
I like the image from first night too :D clouds kinda hug the MW
Thanks Matej! Yeah, it's growing on me as well I have to say!

Thanks Mark! Curious how yours turns out.
Loving the footage from the a7s!
The first image with the MW poking through a perfect hole in the clouds is 👌
Thanks John! The shot from the first night is kind of growing on me but made me want to come back and redo it somehow haha.

Yes! That's exactly what I'm saying! :P
BINGO 🎉
Clouds come rolling in, see what we get... I counted only 2 StarScaper bingo's this time? :P
I enjoyed your video very much! :) Clear skies
Great to hear Tully! Thanks for sharinf your thoughts! 😀

With being 'koplamp' I might have guessed you would love the part about the red headlights ofcourse :P. Thanks! And good additional info also!

Great video. Awesome shots at the end.
Thanks a lot Mike! Any videos in the making at your end?
Hey, you can drink beer outside. In the cold 😅😎
Hahaha. You DO make a point there 😄
It was a great adventure mate!
It was man! Had some great fun!

I've done the "ISO: Too High" thing more times than I'd like to admit haha
Haha. My astro buddies even made me a custom gif because of it BUT I do not seem to be the only one. Thank you ;-).

It was bortle 4 'officially' but felt like bordering a 5.
@@StarScaperPhoto Oh, cool! Gives me some hope :)
Re Red lights: Why does Tom have one on the back of his head at 28 seconds in?
I asked him the same thing haha. Thought he just wanted to show off at first (;-)) but it seemed to have to do with his battery status or something. My guess would be though it is a light used on bycicles also where you have to have a red rear light? Mysteries... I'll ask him again next time!
Not sure about the moon rising in the North East? Guess you were still a bit distracted by the red light district? 😂
