Thanks for the Demo, aquarian makes great heads thinking about putting the medium wt.on snares,,the 8"&10" toms, the 2ply. On 12"&13" the 2ply deep on 14",16",and 18"floor toms.super 2 on 20"&22" kick drums, with classic clears on the reso for toms and floor toms.factory reso on kick, and 300 gauge on snare reso.I think that would be the best for me.alowing the small toms to sing and as the diameter increases go with the heavy heads.
Just bought these and used your tunings as an example so i would know how a GREAT drummer sounded on them! So, Thank YOU for great recordings. Your mics and micing technique sound fantastic! I'm just curious, would you check out some of my recent stuff and let me know what you think of my drum sound in the mixes?
Good video and appreciate showing off these Aquarian vintage drumheads. Nice comparison and appreciate the two tunings. Questions: 1. What kind of heads were used on the resort side if the snare and toms? 2. Did you make it a point to tune the batter heads higher or lower than the reso sides? That will make a big difference in the attack and decay of each stroke. Helpful to know and understand.
Hi, the resonant heads on the toms are Aquarian Classic Clear. Except for the snare reso, I tuned all heads up and down during the recording. The tom resonant heads are always a tiny bit higher in tuning. Hope that helps.
Hi thanks for posting this- very helpful. Which of the vintage series would you suggest for toms that are tightened down pretty tight but will still give a warm tone? I’m not into that wet thud sound and still want some resonance. Looking for heads for Gretsch usa custom kit with maple/gum shells -thanks
Hi David, if you tune your toms up, I would suggest to start with the Medium heads as a reference point. These are my favourites too. Thanks for watching. Chris
THANK YOU! There is not enough videos comparing these heads on the tube
Thanks for watching!
I was pleasantly surprised by those Modern Vintage II heads! I’m definitely getting those once my Triple Threat is completely finished.
I'm thinking the these will sound great on my renowns!

@@DrumsBonedothanks for the prompt reply. What would you suggest pairing with those on the reso side? The Gretsch kit rack toms are 8” deep.
-cheers
